Insurance companies fuck the shit out of their existing customers. Just so you know.
I got sick of seeing an increase of 10-15 dollars per month on my auto policy every 6 months. I have no tickets, accidents, claims etc so it is bullshit to keep raising my premiums so much as my vehicle ages. State Farm kept doing it though.
I was planning to switch companies later this year as I'm planning to get a new vehicle. However, the most recent increase ($15 a month) pissed me off enough that I called my agent's office for an explanation. 3 fucking weeks have passed and they have not returned my call.
So, I called GEICO this morning to get a quote. I got the EXACT same coverage and cut my deductibles from 500 to 250 and I'm going to save over $600 per year. I'm sure GEICO will start fucking me at some point so when they do, I'll switch again.
Just thought I'd share this because, if you're the kind of customer they're counting on and you don't want the "hassle" of switching or shopping, you are probably being fucked like I was and you should take a few minutes to put a stop to it.

Had the same issue with Nationwide some 0dd 8-9 years ago.
Called Geico up and saved a rack of money. Been with them ever since and haven't noticed an increase in rates that much to the point of pissing me off yet.
Even added Homeowners insurance through them, though I know technically it's with another company.
As a guy that works for Allstate, I can probably explain it.
First of, GEICO, good luck getting a claim. 15 minutes will save you money until you try to get money from them.
Insurance rates go up based on the overall amount of claims in the area too. Mine just went up $10 a month because of that. So the driving of other idiots will affect you in some way to offset their costs.

Well, that was part of the length of it.
Sort of. I wasn't joking when I said I was going to be busy as fuck with work those next two weeks. Hell, December 4th, I pulled a 6am to 10pm day, and was going to be working 2:30am to 10pm that Saturday (the 5th). So I was either working or sleeping essentially for those next two weeks.
I also partially stayed away intentionally that entire weekend because I was probably on the verge of saying something that was going to get me the banhammer, and I didn't feel like dealing with that. So it started where I intentionally stayed away that weekend to avoid saying something in our Oklahoma/Ohio discussion that would probably get me banned.
After that, I don't know, it was sort of nice taking a break from here. As time went on, I just sort of kept extending the "vacation", if you will. I didn't have to deal with Ram's bullshit, so I was able to enjoy the rest of the college football and NFL season. And outside of maybe some discussion on various game releases or upcoming games in 2016, I didn't feel like I was missing a ton of conversation, and I was still able to partake in conversations outside of this site thanks to our couple of group nights on SW Battlefront, so I just sort of kept the vacation rolling. I nearly cut it short on January 3rd when I won the NFL Pick'em, just so I could rip Ram a new asshole, but I never got a chance that night and work picked back up the next day, so I delayed my return a little longer.
I finally decided Ram's new asshole ripping had been delayed long enough last night, especially after his new levels of bullshit these last two weeks.

Well, considering I have not made an auto insurance claim in about 20 years I can live with a hassle or two to save $600 annually. I have a few friends who have GEICO and they never had any real problems making claims so I'm hoping I wouldn't either.
Also, about 2 years ago GEICO built a massive office that employs several thousand people about 10 minutes away from me. I'd hope that their big presence in my community would allow for an easier/quicker/more hassle-free claims process although that is unfounded.
Lastly, not everyone is willing to pay $5 per month for something they can get for $30 per year so I'm not sure you would understand.

Forgot to mention that I upped my rental reimbursement from $35 to $50 a day also. Another way my policy is now better for more than $600 per year less.
Eh, it was more I was really worn out from a long week of work and was getting a little punchy. That, and things got blown WAY out of proportion. I was only fucking around and joking with the whole Oklahoma lost to Texas thing, then it started getting into a back and forth war. And all my life, I've never been one to back down, so I just kept slinging back that whole night even though it was over something that I couldn't have even cared less about because it was nothing more than a joke for me to fuck around with. The joke just ended up getting way out of hand.
Like I said, I mainly left and stayed gone that weekend because I was probably on the verge of either getting banned or ending up with some serious infractions. After that weekend, between being busy as hell, and actually enjoying life not having to deal with Buffalo Ram and his dumb shit claims, I just sort of kept rolling my "vacation" week after week throughout December and the first half of January here. It was actually rather nice being away for a bit!
