With a career record of 9-2-3 in domestic cup matches, Neil Harris has made a name for himself. Add to that a couple of Premier League scalps with his Millwall side taking down Crystal Palace and Newcastle United last season and Harris has an impressive cup resume.
Those accomplishments cannot be dismissed but taking on Manchester City, one of the richest clubs in the world and a club that is currently 2nd in all of England, is a completely different matter.
City visited Bloomfield Road on Wednesday night and completely dominated from the opening kickoff, in a driving rain. However, poor finishing from City, a few fantastic saves from Colin Doyle and a fortunate strike from Capital One Cup goal scoring leader David Norris lifted Blackpool to an unlikely giant-killing, 1-0.
It is the biggest win in the career of most everyone on the Seasiders roster, including manager Neil Harris.
Blackpool will visit Huddersfield Town on Saturday as League 1 action resumes.
