A tough loss to Southend United as Millwall conceded a pair of brilliant goals. The first came on a rocketed volley from an extremely tight angle and the second from a direct free kick from about 30 yards.

Meanwhile the Lions found the post, pushed a pair of chances inches wide and had the Southend keeper scramble to take 2 off of his goal line as Millwall saw a steak of 6 matches without a loss come to an end.

Another 2-0 result. This time over Peterborough United and it came at high cost as the Lions were ravaged by injury. Kelechi Iheanacho, Diego Rojas and Abner join Andreas Pereira on the injured list and all 4 will miss Saturday's match with Sheffield United.

On a positive note, Millwall have moved into a Promotion Playoff spot with 10 match days remaining.

Uygar Mert Zeybek lasered a ball in from about 25 yards in the second half to provide the difference in a big 1-0 result over Sheffield United.

    Spoiler: show

Relegation-threatened Doncaster Rovers, who sit 20th in the league table, will visit The Den on Friday and the Lions expect to have striker Kelechi Iheanacho back from injury. Iheanacho has 3 goals and 2 assists in 20 League 1 appearances this season.

Uygar Mert Zeybek scored for the second consecutive match as he is gaining confidence in the CAM role that was vacated by the injured Andreas Pereira but it was not enough for the Lions to earn maximum points as a late equalizer by Doncaster, who were down to 10 men, resulted in a 1-1 draw.

    Spoiler: show

Millwall will visit Crewe Alexandra on just 2 days rest for a match on Monday. Between injuries and fatigue, a squad of substitutes and reserves is expected against the 23rd-placed side.

A pair of late goals helped Millwall steal a point and denied Crewe Alexandra their first win in their 20 home matches this season as Monday's clash ended in a 2-2 draw.

In other news, Hartlepool United earned a 2-1 victory over Wigan Athletic in the final of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

    Spoiler: show

The Lions will be without striker Steve Morison when they host Colchester United next Tuesday. Morison will serve a 1-match ban, his second of the season, for an accumulation of yellow cards as he has 11 across all competitions and 10 under the jurisdiction of the FA.

Colchester are currently 10th in the league table, 4 points behind Millwall who hold the last Promotion Playoff spot.

Kelechi Iheanacho scored a second half brace on Tuesday to lead Millwall to a 2-0 result over Colchester United. The win keeps Millwall in the final Promotion Playoff spot with 6 matches remaining in the season.

The game marked the returns of Abner and Diego Rojas from injury, leaving Andreas Pereira as the only Lion in the training room. Pereira is expected to return to the pitch on April 19 when Millwall host Burton Albion.

    Spoiler: show

With just 3 days rest, Millwall will play host to league leaders Chesterfield on Saturday at The Den.

With their only goal coming in the dying embers of second half stoppage time, Millwall saw their slim chance to win the league title mathematically wiped out with a 2-1 loss to league leaders Chesterfield.

Lee Martin suffered a sprained ankle and is expected to miss 3 weeks.

    Spoiler: show

In a tight race, the Lions maintain their hold on the final Promotion Playoff spot despite the loss.

Millwall will have 9 days off before hosting 21st-placed Burton Albion on Tuesday the 19th.

Goalkeeper David Forde kept his 17th league Clean Sheet of the season as Millwall were 2-0 winners over the league's lowest-scoring club Burton Albion on Tuesday night at The Den.

The result meant the Lions would avoid dropping points to another drop zone club as they did to Doncaster Rovers and Crewe Alexandra last month and the 3 points also mean that Millwall still holds the final Promotion Playoff spot with just 4 match days remaining.

    Spoiler: show

Three days off and then a trip to visit Gillingham on Saturday.

    1) Keep up the great work
    2) Do the clubs highlighted up top get promoted to a bigger league or is that playoff positioning or what?

    1) Thank you

    2) The top 2 gain automatic promotion to the Football League Championship which is the second tier in the English Football System (directly below the Premier League). Clubs 3 through 6 qualify for the Promotion Playoff and play a single elimination tournament to decide which is the 3rd club that is promoted (also, of course, to the Football League Championship).

Steve Morison came off the bench and grabbed a late winner with a powerful header as Millwall maintained their hold on the last Promotion Playoff spot.

    Spoiler: show

The Lions will close out the month of April when they visit 23rd-placed Scunthorpe United. That match should see the return of LM Lee Martin from his ankle injury.

It's also worth noting that the 4 clubs that are at the bottom of the league are relegated to Football League 2. In League 2 the top 3 clubs gain automatic promotion and there is a playoff between clubs 4 through 7 to earn the last promotion spot.

    Spoiler: show

Forgot to mention that both CB Tommie Hoban and CM Uygar Mert Zeybek will serve a 1-match ban on Saturday at Walsall. Each player picked up their 5th yellow card in domestic competitions in the victory over Scunthorpe United.

Despite a humiliating result at Walsall, Millwall were able to secure a Promotion Playoff spot with one match day remaining on the league fixture list.

    Spoiler: show

Following the match, the Lions learned that 37-year-old RM/RB Carlos Edwards has decided to play one more season after considering retirement all year. Edwards leads the club with 7 League 1 assists but his contact is set to expire at the end of the season. The club has not commented on whether or not they intend to bring the veteran wideman back.

The final day of the League 1 season had the feeling of a celebration for Millwall on a successful campaign that will see the Lions participate in next month's Promotion Playoff. It also had a feeling that the club were giving 37-year-old Carlos Edwards a proper sending off even though he announced last week that he intends to play another season.

Edwards was allowed to take a second half penalty as Millwall pummeled Fleetwood Town, 4-0 and finished the season 6th in League 1.

In his post-match press conference, manager Neil Harris downplayed the finality of having Edwards kick from the spot. "I'm not sure which league we'll be playing in next season much less who will be on the squad," said Harris. "Carlos proved he can still compete (3 goals, 7 assists in League 1) and he's been valuable to us this year. Letting him have that moment (the penalty conversion) was more a 'thank you' than a 'goodbye'."

The club has still made no official comment on whether or not they will offer Edwards a new contract.

    Spoiler: show

Shaun Cummings picked up his 5th yellow card in domestic competitions in the win over Fleetwood Town and will miss the 1st Leg of the Playoff tie with Port Vale at The Den on June 1st.

Manchester United won the FA Cup, Millwall Goalkeeper David Forde was named League 1 Player of the Year and he split the Golden Glove Award with Bread Jones of Bradford City. Andy Williams of Doncaster Rovers won the league's Golden Boot.
