This new DVR I picked up from Time Warner today ain't too shabby. Granted, my old DVR had been in this house since 2010 so to say it was outdated like hell is an understatement. Could only hold 75 hours of HD recordings and could only record two channels at once.

The new box I picked up today, this "Enhanced DVR" that Time Warner has been promoting, 150 hours of HD recordings and can record up to 6 channels at the same time.

It's nice being able to actually use the TWC TV app now to its full potential. Using DVR Manager on the app, I can pull up my recordings on my phone, set individual and series recordings from my phone, go through the TV guide on the app and use that to set recordings, delete recordings, select already recorded shows and play them on my TV via the phone app.

Christ I've been missing out on a ton of shit with that outdated piece of crap DVR I had for the past 5 years. Time Warner needs to start sending people emails or something whenever newer and better equipment comes out. I would have never found out about this DVR if I hadn't needed to replace my modem yesterday (unless I actually paid attention during a TWC commercial).

Speaking of modems, how long do they last? For the past few months I have had a lot of dropped internet signals. My equipment is good but the only thing showing it's age is the modem.

I had mine since 2010/2011, when I switched to Roadrunner. Only lately has it been having issues with the internet going out for hours at a time in the past 6 months or so. Finally got tired of it when it dropped two days in a row this weekend and went and switched it out for a new and better model one.

The old DVR you have would be considered the future of technology compared to what we have. We can record ONE show and it is not capable of allowing you to watch another show on the TV while it is recording. I had VCR's with better features.

Damn, what's your DVR, a potato?

I thought it was bad enough I could only record one show while watching live TV and unable to watch live TV if I recorded two at the same time.

It is a PITA. Having two or more shows to record in a day is like a puzzle. Record Network shows first, due to lack of a repeat. Then go to cable shows. If multiple shows air at the same time, pick favorite and hope the repeat airing of the other is available. If two repeats fill the same time slot, sigh and keep looking. When all else fails, purchase episode from Amazon. This is a pretty small town cable service. At one point last fall I had 5 shows that aired on the same day. Spent less time solving the rubix cube.

I solved/avoided all that dvr crap when I cut cable off in 2005. If it is not on Netflix I don't even give it a chance.

Jared Fogle, the former Subway spokesman, is expected to plead guilty to possession of child pornography charges. Sources say Fogle will accept a plea deal Wednesday. The U.S. Attorney’s Office will hold a press conference tomorrow afternoon to discuss the deal and charges against Fogle.

Wanted to post this somewhere that would give it more exposure than the MLB thread. This shit is terrible. If I put the appropriate number of face palms, I would crash the servers.

    ram, rejoice!
