Yep, he has lacked commitment to football for a while now. I don't know if he's expecting his status to just carry him through the NFL like it has been off the field (going on all the talk shows, the Oprah stuff, the "movie" talks, etc), apparently he expected to just be handed a roster spot or something. Even after going to the CFL, he couldn't even produce in the one and only game he played in.

From the discussions I've seen online, basically, he was carried by Kony Ealy, who was constantly being double and triple teamed and despite that teams still running the opposite direction of him, leading to Michael Sam getting such big numbers his senior year. And I can believe it. First three years of his career, he had at most 29 total tackles, at most 16 solo tackles (both tackle stats from his sophomore year) and at most 4.5 sacks. Then his senior year, all of a sudden he explodes for 48 total tackles, 31 solo tackles and 11.5 sacks. Yeah, I would say having a beast like Ealy on the opposite side of the defensive line helped those numbers.
