Astros complete a 4-game sweep of the Mariners to run their streak to 10 in a row. Houston has won 14 of 15.

Good thing they're not in the NL Central any more![]()

Agreed, JB!![]()

Actually, JB, with Houston and the Cubs trending upwards, maybe we can have a World Series meeting in a few years.![]()
Astros win streak ends at 10 with a 2-1 loss to Texas.
Well. The Cubs are supposed to win the World Series this year, according to Back to the Future II. And Astros are playing the fuck out of their minds. It could happen this season!

I remember them doing Quantum Leap week to get more viewers. They did a show every night to get more exposure and it worked. Not sure why networks don't try that more often with good shows struggling to find viewers.
The Astros scored 3 in the ninth last night to pull out a 3-2 win in Anaheim, ending their 3-game skid. Houston is 15-8 against the AL West this year.
Not to rain on the Astros parade, but I found this very interesting in a recent Grantland article
But it’s important to remember that it’s still early, and that the Astros haven’t actually earned anything yet. Even the 70-win 2014 Astros had a 27-game stretch in which they went 17-10 with a plus-24 run differential, not far from what this year’s team has achieved. And last season alone, six teams that missed the playoffs (Toronto, Tampa Bay, Milwaukee, Cincinnati, Seattle, and Colorado) had 27-game stretches in which they won at least 18 games while posting better run differentials than Houston has recorded.

As I type this, the Astros are 20-11 which is best in the American League and second to only St. Louis. They have a 6 game lead in their division and no one else in the division is turning any heads.
Houston has the second lowest payroll and the second best record, just to get that out there.
My personal expectations before the season began were for the Astros to win 80-82 games this year. The additions to their lineup and the makeover of the bullpen warranted that level of optimism.
It's easy to look at Houston and see their record last season and assume they were crap. However, they had the worst bullpen in baseball. They had more blown saves than anyone in baseball. Cleaning that up would add alot of wins.
They did makeover the bullpen and they are winning with power, speed and pitching. Can they keep it up? I don't know but I don't see why they can't have a very good season and the future is VERY bright.
Yeah, either way it bodes well for the future. The thing that led me to post that quote was that I never imagined that combination of teams had similar streaks at one point or another last season. I mean, those were some bad teams...
Hoping Houston has, at the very least, turned around their long term prospects.

Yeah, lol. Not a good list.
It's a LONG season. I'm just happy to have Houston in this position this far into the season.
#1 overall pick in 2012, Carlos Correa is promoted to AAA as he patiently waits on my bench in three fantasy leagues![]()
