    Following the acquisition of JP Howell from the Dodgers, Houston was forced to make room for him on their 40-man roster as well. To do so, the club placed 24 year old reliever Bruce Rondon (currently with AA Corpus Christi) on outright waivers.

    Rondon can be claimed by any other club in the next 48 hours. If he is unclaimed, Rondon will remain with the Astros. Rondon (65, B) was originally acquired with Jeff Locke from Pittsburgh in exchange for SPs Scott Feldman and Colin McHugh during the Spring.
