This time out, a draw must feel pretty good for Chelsea. The Blues traveled to St. James' Park on Saturday with hopes of 3 points. After 45 minutes, the visitors seemed headed for defeat, with a 2-0 deficit. However, Eden Hazard sparked a furious second half charge and his side escaped with a 2-2 result.
In the 64th minute, Hazard fed a through ball to Filipe Luis who came screaming up the pitch into the left side of the box. From there, Luis calmly finessed his shot over Tim Krul and into the right side of the net to cut the Magpies lead in half. With 5 minutes to go, Oscar was pulled down in the penalty area and Hazard slotted the ensuing penalty kick into the top left corner for level pegging.
Chelsea face a do-or-die UEFA Champions League match on Tuesday night at Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen. With a win, Chelsea is through to the Round of 16 and could even win Group G. A draw could get them through, but could also relegate them to the Europa League Round of 32. A loss would mean either the Europa League or the end of Chelsea's European campaign.
