What are they saying for you guys Jeff? It sounds like anything south of Jersey will be fine. North of Jersey, well, this thing could make The Perfect Storm and the Storm of the Century look like popcorn farts depending on how the weather models trend over the next 2-3 days.

Nah, that storm is coming in two months. This storm is just going to fuck up the northeast pretty efficiently.

I'd actually heard nothing about it until you mentioned it. I'd heard that Sandy is expecting to come up the coastline, but didn't know it was being predicted to turn landward. That reaction was just in general to what I'm sure will be the media over the next week or so.

Oh, you can bet on it. They're already predicting something worse than the Perfect Storm in 1991 and the Storm of the Century in 1993.

This thing is supposed to come up the coast, and predicted to turn towards land around the Northeast next week, colliding with a powerful low that is currently making it's way across Canada and will head through the Great Lakes and Northeast this weekend and next week.

The Perfect Storm was 972 mb and the pressure on the "Storm Of The Century" was 960 mb. Some of the models are predicting this storm to be even more powerful, with pressure clear down to low 930s mb, the equivalent of a strong category 3 hurricane. So you can guarantee the media will be going into full on panic mode. They're probably already preparing their "scary" graphics and sound effects/music.

Yep. I've seen this one already referred to as Superstorm and Mega-Storm. I'm sure about a thousand other variations will arise by Friday or Saturday.

Same here. I was 4 during the Perfect Storm and 6 during the Storm of the Century.

I remember the "Storm of the Century". Dropped like 15 inches of snow. Most Charleston had seen in 20 years or so.

Wasn't the "Perfect Storm" some crazy windy thing in '91? I think I remember that one because it nearly flipped my dad's truck over in downtown Charleston.

Why do I let myself get drug back into "talking" about politics? It's like shooting myself in the face with a shotgun then pouring salt in the wound. It's a dumb thing to do and pointless all at the same time. I have my beliefs on how things should work; you have yours. We both completely disagree on how things should work (I think you're nuts, you think I'm nuts), so what's the point? There isn't one, that's the answer. It's just flame goading. There's really no other reason.

Yeah, they can't seem to decide on a name. I've seen different meteorologists on TV and online calling it "Superstorm", "Mega-Storm" and now "Frankenstorm". They better get their shit in order, they only have one or two days to decide on the name, graphics and sounds before they go into 100% panic mode and start scaring the shit out of the public.
