Essentially that is what they did, only in a more scripted fashion. They would give them context to the situation & have them react to that situation. I think what was always missing was the context & emotion of each situation. They have started taking the steps to fix that.

Overall, I am pleased with the news thus far. It is nice to see that they are revamping the old flavored commentary with a completely new one. I sure do wish it could have been fully implemented this year, instead of the MULTI year process, but I will be satisfied with what they have started on. Will their be any changes to the sidelines in reference to the "sights" area?

From what I saw, it didn't look like it. But they also said that all footage was WIP.

As someone who has been very frustrated w/ the game the past several years all I can say is this: They actually have the new and stadiums in the game and from what they said, these two stadiums may be the most visually amazing stadiums based on how they scanned them! I am excited about that. I am also glad to hear them admit the failures of the commentary and that that is being worked on.

I get that it's a 4-year process but at least they're doing something about it.

The 17th will be huge because game-play is the biggest thing of all. But so far, EA, my hat is off to you. This one hour broadcast was so much better than a single screen shot like in years past.

    THANK YOU!!!

Maybe some of the CD guys can comment on this? Or just go into more depth about everything touched up on today.

I still would prefer them to commentate actual user vs cpu, user vs user games, and coach mode games as well then take those recordings and use them in the game, especially helpful to cover up the dead times between plays. I know it sounds like asking a lot but really you can get a bunch of different scenarios in the game than you can just think of as possible situations. If they want authentic sounding commentary that is the way I would go about doing it.

Not so far as I'm aware, at least not to the point that I remember it specifically. That said though, the last time I was personally there was January whereas others have been able to make a couple of trips since.

I've been saying that for years lol 2K does commentary almost perfectly in MLB2K and NBA2K

Personally, I would want no part of a system as complex as commentary needs to be that they could completely implement in one year. I think one of the main issues in the past has been trying to get something too big in in 1 dev cycle & the result is a skyscraper built on a cracked foundation. What they have done is to lay a very strong base & get a feel for what is possible with this new system.

Ah, well, as long as the more important things have been touch up on and fixed. Which seems to be the case. The devs take on things has changed so much from years past, and I like how they are paying more attention to what the fans and dedicated players want. Kudos to them for making those strides in doing so.

one thing that i've always been frustrated with (even though its not a big deal), is the lack of camera crews displayed around the stadium.

they have all kinds of "reporters" set in place around the field, and they arent used at all. it'd be a huge gain, if they could use those figures for different kinds of replays. i'll take a pic in-game showing what i mean later on.

It was also good to hear that they are taking stuff and talking to other devs within EA. BF3, FIFA and NHL

yeah but did they give them a situation, like "it's 4th and 1 and they just got stuffed" or was it on the screen being played and they reacted to it? You can get two totally different reactions. Maybe if they don't play a whole game for them, play a series or two. This way Brad and Kirk can get into a flow and stuff that they said about the 1st down play will feed into what they said about the 3rd down play.

I see what you're saying, however I would think that then you are overly confining each comment. I'm not sure exactly what method they used as a visual but my understanding was that immersion played a significant part in their efforts this year while recording. I definitely get what you're getting at however I'm not sure that would get the results you're looking for necessarily.

By context I guess I mean more than down, distance & result. I think it was more detailed: 4th qtr, crucial drive, etc...
