Nah, I'm optimistic they'll get it ironed out sooner than later. Their servers probably got crushed yesterday.

Finally got this baby in hand. Took a day longer than it should have (so much for release day shipping ), but at least UPS somewhat made up for it by putting my package on the early route and dropped it off about 15 minutes ago, instead of sticking it on the late route and not showing up until after 4:30.

Edit - Got the Michael Jordan cover. Which is fine with me. Didn't really have a preference one way or the other.

Damn. Just had a hell of a Rookie Showcase game to kick off My Player. Playing on the Elites, we beat the Stars 76-73. We were tied at 73-all with 57 seconds left to play in the game. I got the pass as I drove to the basket and got fouled on the shot. Missed the first free throw, made the second to give us a 1 point lead with 49 seconds to play.

After trading a pair of missed shots (including my dumbass CPU teammate throwing up a bad 3-point attempt with 15 seconds left to play), the Stars got the ball and drove down. They took a shot, missed and I came down with the rebound, getting fouled with 2 seconds left on the clock. Went to the line, sank both free throws, they missed their full court Hail Mary attempt, and we won 76-73, thanks to my going 3 for 4 from the free throw line, the only points in the entire last minute of the game, and getting the rebound with 2 seconds left

Followed that up with pre-draft interviews with the Houston Rockets, Phoenix Suns, and Indiana Pacers. Ultimately, got drafted in the first round, 13th overall by the Phoenix Suns. Based on the pay scale for my draft slot, I got a 2 year, $1.65 million contract with a team option. Now to bide my time on the bench behind Steve Nash while slowly improving.

Just FYI if you pre-ordered it from Amazon they will send you an e-mail that has a download for all three covers.

So the greatest mystery is how often the automatic advance is on slow for Online Assocation. Pasta posted that on fast, it advances 3 NBA Days every 6 hours (JESUS) .... and normal is 3 NBA days every 24 hours. If slow is 3 NBA Days every 3 realtime days, I'd be happy with that.

I had a pretty good Rookie Showcase, but ended up losing b/c I was taken out of the game w/ 3 mins to go and didn't see the floor again. But while on the floor I had 15 pts, 2 reb, 6assists at the 2 spot. I would've had more points, but my PG(Kemba Walker's doppleganger) didn't see a shot he didn't like. During my pre-draft interviews, I met with the Sixers, Rockets, and Wizards. The Rockets chose me 14th overall. I haven't played a game yet, but I do like the newish drills and was able to get gold in all 3 drills

    From Pasta:

Online Association, the aspect of NBA 2K12 that was most intriguing to me, looks like it will be a failure to many. The way the mode is structured will appeal to people who like all, or at least most, of their games simmed. Those who want to actually play the games will have a hard time sticking to the rigid schedule.

There are three periods to choose from for advancement. Slow, Normal, and Fast. 2K12 doesn't actually even explain what those mean when preparing the Association which will be troublesome in itself - but I've set up one with each to figure it out.

Slow (24 hours), Normal (16 hours), Fast (6 hours) - Associations advance to the next block of games at that rate reportedly simming any games that are not completed. There is no way to manually delay advancement.

An example of what that means: 82 game season on Slow - there will be around 7 games to play or sim in each 24 hour period. You can't take a day off and good luck playing all of them each day if that is what you're hoping to accomplish.

So this is a bummer and solely the fault of a poor design decision. Of course the servers would have to be working anyway for the mode to matter and at this point who knows when/if that'll happen. If one can even access a current Online Association head-to-head games have been broken all along and random disconnects from the server threaten progress being made.

2K Always makes an effort where EA lacks..in such things as a sports history and a few of the details like uniforms...Madden doesnt bother putting in historic uniforms and just leaving them in, like the Eagles 70s and 80s uniforms and heck,..for that matter, Ive been waiting for years to see the eagles white helmet uni's.

this game has almost too much in it LOL..but I do find it annoying that i have to look in menues to modify the visuals for the play art and stuff..and traing camp should have the ability to just move on and learn the next thing,..dont hold me hostage having to get 5000 points trying to move on and making those 5000 hard to get in some cases..took me forever with that triple threat jab step crap LOL... but they have finally for the last 3 years made B Ball believable in a video game.. EA in the old ps2 days ..you couldnt really drive around people etc.

I agree with your Ram, consider us both shocked. Tons of old school unis to play with. The commentary in this game is simply amazing. I was playing with one of the unlocked teams from Amazon, the 90's Warriors and they went into detail on Tim Hardaway's son and how he was playing college basketball, his size compared to Tim and their play-styles. All this for a guy not even in the league anymore. Then when playing one of the Legends games they went into long detail on the Hawks history, who they used to be and when they started playing in Atlanta.

Also the broadcast look of the 50's, 60's, 70's an 80's games are all unique and very nicely captures for it's time. Everything from the scoreboards, to the opening where it shows the starters. It makes Maddens AFL attempt from a few year back simply look foolish.

Playing with Maurice Cheeks (played at a local school), Dr. J and Moses on the old Spectrum (when they used a spectrum at midcourt) from the 70's just brought me back to my youth and when I really loved the NBA.

That is a bummer. Everything else I've heard about the game is impressive, but the OA advance settings are head-scratching. I guess it's designed for people to play if they are home all day; not for people with school, family or jobs. Hopefully they can patch in some realistic advance settings.

Yeah, I have absolutely no clue how they came up with 6-12-24. Who the hell has enough time each day to play where it advances every 6 hours? Besides college students and people either who sit at home all day and don't have a job, or people who who work from home. Anyone and everyone else, 6 hours will the absolute least used of those options.

Personally, they should have timed it 12 hours (fast)-24 hours (normal)-48 hours (slow). 6-12-24 is just stupid.

I cant see plays in the classic games no matter what ive done with menue/options so far ?? help ?

i guarantee you, Keith Erickson was not that athletic...at least i'm pretty sure LOL

i suck at this game but its very nice and the player attributes and caricatures are believable for the most part...it gets pretty close to a cartoonish videogame definition of the word-virtual...stil not sure how to do a hook shot but i learned-triangle- to post up LOL..i turned it off to cool down, but im turning on my ps3 again in less than a hour to mess with it some more..my ncaa dyn. can wait a couple days

It took until our fourth game of the season, but we have finally given the fans in Phoenix their first win of the season, an 87-79 victory on the road at Memphis. And, after scoring exactly 8 points each of the first three games, I finally managed to hit double digits, hitting 10 points for the game with under 2 minutes to play, to go along with my season high 2 rebounds.

Gotta work on my shooting though. I went 5-17 in field goals, 0-5 from beyond the 3-point line. If I want to earn more minutes on the court, I'm going to have to start sinking some of those shots. And I still need to find a good signature free throw. I had a good one in 2K11 that I was able to get the timing down perfectly on when to move the R-stick up to release the ball, but I can't find one yet this year that I'm comfortable with. I'm not doing too bad, currently 4-6 at the free throw line through four games, but it's been more luck of the ball bouncing or rolling in, than it has been of me making good shots. I just wish they would give you an option to work specifically on your free throw shooting in the My Player menus.

Edit - I think I might have found my signature free throw, ironically titled 'Smooth'. Just shot 10 free throws in the practice mode from the main menu and went 8 for 10, with 8 of them being perfectly timed releases.

Nice. While we got our asses whooped by my old team (scoring 11 points, I was the third highest scorer for our team ), the Minnesota Timberwolves (my My Player got drafted by the Timberwolves in NBA 2K11), I had my best game of my career so far, scoring 11 points with 4 rebounds and 3 assists in 13 minutes on the court. For what was going to be my last game for this morning, that's a nice way to end it.

With not much time the past couple of days, all I have had time for is Training Camp. Man there are a lot of things you can do with the ball.

  18. #218
I haven't gotten into the game as much as I would've thought, but I've been trying to get through training camp to nail down everything, even though I've been playing yearly since '06.

I've dabbled in My Player and this may be the year that I commit some major time into this mode. Played my 1st game with the Rockets and although they have some good depth at the 2 & 3, I was still able to log 17 minutes in a blowout W. I finished the game with only 7 pts and 1 assist, but I did get a highlight And 1 dunk on Raja Bell. On a fast break, I got the outlet and just tried to get to the line and all of a sudden my player just took off for a monster 2 handed dunk.

By the way, all sports games need to take notes when it comes to commentary. 2k12 by far has the best commentary I have ever heard. After a Terrence Williams jumper, they started talking about his potenial and once the action lulled they went back to talking about his scoring ability and his ups and downs with the Nets.

Yeah I played a full season of My Player last year. Then got pissed when you can choose any team after year one. Hope they fixed that. Other than that, I absolutely love that mode.
