Same thing when you run it on offense... it only allows you to pick plays from the first formation listed in each set of your playbook (so 4-3 Normal, Nickel Normal, Dime Normal, etc.) If the opponent runs no huddle and you're in Nickel 3-3-5, you can't pick plays from that formation, only the tops of the list of each set.

Oh, ok, I can deal with that vs the CPU.

Does anyone have a breakdown of what was fixed and what was broke by the patch. I am trying to decide if I should even bother with downloading the patch.

LOL, gotta love EA. I seriously wonder what the mood is at their studio today or if they even care. My gut still tells me that the few of them that play video football play Madden so they either don't care or are oblivious to it.

I have zero faith in EA that this game will get any better than it is, to be honest it hasn't changed much in years anyway. In all my talking with the powers that be over there I always get the same answer..we don't have the capability to do that or this is the way we decided to do it. So instead of putting resources towards making things work as they should they decide to hamfist things also known as "this is the way we decided to do it", the way cover 2 is played is a prime example. This shit is getting old...I was hoping attending the community event and being able to have some input would calm my fears/make me feel better, in honestly it made me feel worse and unless they commit the resources to make things work as they should things aren't going to change and I don't see anything changing.

Bring on another publisher, EA has had their shot and blew it in my eyes.

    I'm stunned

I haven't played on the PS3 since the patch. I played on 360 last night; which hasn't received the patch yet. So why do I need to comment on something I haven't seen first hand yet?

Seriously you should just go back to other sites that think you're a god.
LOL did you download it yet ? I havent either, but I obviously have to, to continue anything online.

they did this more than once last year , right ? I mean, there will be a follow up patch, right? I think at best, the wide receiver blocking and playbooks need to be solved before September ends for sure.

We are almost exactly 2 months past the release date and the 'product' still does not work correctly. I'm trying to think of another product or service I use that this would be acceptable. Can anyone think of one?

Just look at the automobile industry, sometimes they never fix issues.

The product does actually work correctly. There are some bugs but it still plays as a football game and many many people are still playing and having fun with it.

I guess one thing that throws me for a loop, and it's probably just a marketing trick...on the ESPNU show, making of NCAA 12 they made a big deal about how they really REALLY listen to the fans. How they go on their internet forums and LISTEN to their audience.

Yet, then you come on here and other sites and listen to people that get the game early, play it, give their pros vs cons...and those people say things like, well all we do is give them feedback it's up to them with how they deal with it....

Yes EA (on the ESPNU show) would have you believe it's REALLY important to them as to what their audience has to say, what they want, and their feedback is important....

....so I guess the morale of the story is, have a coke and smile and shut the F up. They will release their product in whatever state they want, we are the freakshows that fork out money for it, we are the silly ones that think they are listening to this forums.

I'm no software guru, I have no clue how to program a video game, but when they say they listen to their audience it would also be nice if they would in turn, produce a product that isn't fubar. What I mean is, it seems like YEARS we've been asking for a custom playbook. Then they finally after YEARS of asking in forums say, well we are going to unvail it, CUSTOM PLAYBOOKS....yet now it looks like if I play an OD using a Custom playbook, that can cause issues, if I create a PB it sometimes does and does not have formations. I'm just wondering why they listened about wanting CPB but turn out a product that doesn't really work. It seems to cause more problems than it's worth. If CPB are the root of all the issues, can't they release a patch that turns that feature off? I know it would be like going back to NCAA 11, but alteast it wouldn't be messing things up.

I'm sure it's not that simple, there is nothing simple in programming I'm sure of that...just wondering...if they been really listening to these forums for years and really HEAR that we want a Custom Playbook, then all of a sudden they throw it in with out really testing it? Didn't they start working on this version about this time last year? Or was custom playbooks throw in 2 days prior to packaging it up?

This excuse of, flaws don't pop out until the product hits mainstream is crazy. I could understand if is was something simple like shoe colors are off, or something simple, but online games freezing as soon as you flip the coin toss, plays missing from formations, ODs still not advancing properly, no-huddle fubaring things high heaven....those things CAN and should be tested.

You mean this patch was "said" to be release sometime in Aug, I think Aug 2 is when they said, they hope it will come out soon....did they not test it from Aug 2 until Sept 8th? I find that hard to believe.

I'm really amazed at how they can get away with this...it seems like it comes down to a better business issue, they are releasing a product that isn't complete, then they release a patch that makes it worse, all the while still selling it at $60/copy they are making money on a broken product. There is no disclaimer that it isn't working when you buy it, you assume it will work and I guess that is your loss for assuming that a $60 video game will work as advertised.

Maybe it should be more like this, "hello sir I'd like to buy a game, ok what are you looking for....I'm looking for a good football game, well here you go....is that good? SURE....does it work? Maybe....that will be $60+ tax....good luck LOL!

No it doesn't work correctly and it doesnt play as a football game when someone can go no huddle and you cant call plays from your playbook, or your DB's watch speed option go right past them, or your dynasty won't advance past bowl games, or the game freezes at the coin flip screen, etc. Would you continue to buy the same cell phone if only 'some' of the features worked? Can you give me 1 thing that the patch made better?

I get the impression, from watching some of their demo games where they actually play, that they are fans of NCAA football. They like watching college football.

But that they don't KNOW football. Maybe Anthony White who is the play creation director guy. When you got guys like Oneback, rhombic, and even just regular fans on this site alone that can discuss offense philosophy and intent, zone defense assignments and read adjustments, run block assignments, etc...............in detail no less........and that stuff which is mostly fundamentals, not NFL veteran tips or complicated reads, is NOT in the game.........well, to me that shows that EA hasn't invested in football being football. They've invested in a game that mimics what a casual viewer sees on TV but doesn't really understand all that is going on and why. Hell, the ability to align to your defense to the strength of the offense has NEVER been in the series.....all you can do is flip the formation which doesn't align players you want them........WILL and SAM backers are different types of players for example in most defenses, but the game merely treats them as right and left OLB and just flips the play, not the players.

I've wondered for years why they haven't just brought in some offensive and defensive coaches to teach them how the assignments works and how that read progression should go if the first assignment isn't there, like what Oneback covered earlier in the thread. Hey, FB....there is no LB to crush? Go to the next level, instead of doubling back right into my RB to go chase someone that is not a threat to the fucking play.

Um no, he got away with it last time he attacked the site. It was completely justified. Guessing he went to a dying vine to cry about it right away.

So was him insulting the staff here.

He had a point about EA sucking it up, but it wasn't fair to blame the guys here for EA's foul-ups. If the staff here was the ones messing up the programming, not putting in the right features, then he'd have a point. They are just internet forum owners, and if you guys think they have any more power than you or I, you are thinking too much of them. No offense to them, as they fronted for the site and run it and put in a lot of work on it. The perks that they do get is nice, but it doesn't mean that everything they say or communicate gets through EA's marketing dollar-driven business skull.
