But, THE CURIOSITY! Why in the hell would someone do that (if they aren't a circus performer, that is)?

Long story short, I get to the club (think it was called "The Palace"). The only reason why I even went was because a friend of mine was hosting that night and asked me to come, so I obliged. However, he forgot to tell me that it was "Light her ass on fire night". I found out after the DJ started yelling it through the microphone ("It's light her ass on fire night! It's light her ass on fire night! Hey! Hey! Hey!"). It was at this moment when I realized I was going to need more than a few drinks. When it was time for the "main event", I cautiously made my way to the main stage wondering how exactly this was going to work. So my friend (the host) and some of the other dancers began applying this white foam-like substance all over the one dancer who so eagerly volunteered herself. It took about 15 minutes for them to do this. So finally, my friend pulls out this oversized lighter, ignites it and within seconds, the girl's ass is completely engulfed in flames. Keep in mind, she's dancing the entire time this is going on. The fire lasted about two minutes before they put it out, but there were no burn marks on her or anything. For a while, I was at a loss for words. The only thing I could say was, "What the hell just happened?" I had no idea what else was supposed to happen that night , but I didn't really want to find out. So I told my friend, "yeah, uh, I have to go". I then finished about three more drinks, and took off.
