Arkansas State signs two after Week 10.

Cox is a stud DE. In High School, he played inside and outside of the defensive line. With his strength, Red Wolves coaches would love to move him inside but he's a bit underweight.

For now, Cox will likely redshirt but his second on campus he'll compete for playing time.

Cox chose ASU over an offer from Ole Miss.

Thompson is a project at OLB. He comes in similar to current LOLBs Reed and Wheeler who's primary role is to cause havoc in the backfield. With Wheeler currently a SoRS, Thompson will be able to have a few years of development before he's needed on the field.

Thomspon also received offers from Texas State, Texas-San Antonio, Texas-El Paso, and Boise State.

Arkansas State adds three project recruits after Week 11.

Brown is a project OL only because of his poor run blocking skills. With Arkansas State being a run-first offense, Brown will need to improve upon that in order to find playing time. That said, as a blind-side blocker, he is very good in pass protection. He'll redshirt his first year and it may be a few years before he's competing for the starting job.

Brown chose Arkansas State over Kansas.

While Calhoun comes in highly rated, he'll be a project for the Red Wolves. He has all of the right skills except catching the easy passes. That said, he can make circus catches with 11 defenders around him all day long. He'll redshirt his first year and may find the field some in his second or third year.

    Calhoun received no other offers.

Like Brown & Calhoun, Johnson isn't near ready to play, however coaches noticed in his high school film that he plays much better as an outside rusher instead of as a linebacker. Coaches are planning to move him to DE where he can use his strength and rush skills and occasionally drop into coverage.

    Johnson received no other offers.

Wisconsin adds the bulk of it's remaining class this week

Davidson was a nice grab for the Badgers as he can play TE or FB. Given his catching and route run ability he will likely be placed at TE. This will allow coaches to have some options and move some guys around a bit at both the TE and FB positions. Davidson will redshirt his 1st year on campus to improve on a few areas he is lacking in.

Charles chose Wisconsin over Arkansas, WVU, Colorado, Mizzou and Kent

Due to the current Punter graduating at season's end, Alexandar will come in and start immediately. He already possesses a strong leg than the starter now.

    USF also offered
    WR
    #213
    #42WR
Hunter was added for depth purposes and his potential play making ability in the run game. He has solid receiving potential and route running ability but will need to improve in those areas to see the field consistently. He will redshirt and have time to grow.

Willis was another depth signing in the event that 2 other targets weren't signed for the HB position. He will redshirt and service as a backup for the time being. Wisconsin needed to replace 2 HB's this off season leaving on 1 returning next season.

    No other schools offered

The Badgers found somewhat of a consolation getting Robinson after losing out on Baker to Arkansas State. He doesn't possess all of Baker's skill set, but does come in with all the physical tools. He won't be needed immediately and can take his time improving before he is put on the field. He will more than likely stay at FS but could see time at SS.

Wilcox was another depth signing for the HB position. He comes in as a Juco Junior so he does have the ability to be able to step right in as a backup HB. Wilcox could see spot duty as a backup Safety as well during his time.

Waters was recruited because of his ability to potentially play 2 positions. He will be another depth player but will redshirt his first year on campus. Depending on his growth he could see the field in 2-3 years as a starter.

McPherson may or may not become the back of the future for the Red Wolves. He comes in very highly rated and could be very good, coaches just aren't sure without the Trucking ability if he'll be able to be a starter. That said, you never turn a Five Star HB away. He'll be on the bench for a couple of years and after that may become the replacement for Drew Fernandez.

    McPherson received no other offers.

Davis is a definite project for Arkansas State. Coaches plans are to move him to FB to be a run blocker and likely never touch the football.

Davis' other offer was from UTEP.

ASU coaches weren't really interested in signing any non-Freshmen only but Holt looks like he could be a special addition. If they didn't have so many HBs, he'd be a great one but instead will likely play as a CB.

For now, Holt will redshirt but will likely be starting by the time he's a senior.

Holt's other offers were from Memphis and Alabama.

Since we last caught up with the KU recruiting class, several more players have committed to playing five years in Lawrence. Let's meet them now!

    HB
    #358 #37HB
Aaron Hart may not be the fastest, or most talented, halfback in this year's class, but the KU coaching staff has a very particular prototype of halfback that they look to bring in, and Hart checked every box. "He had the best grade, against our 'ideal' halfback, that I've seen in the five years I've been here," said one source on the condition of anonymity. With Terry Oliver already in the fold, KU was not expected to add a second halfback to this year's class, but they were able to find room for Hart.

Hart should redshirt next season. He chose KU after receiving no interest from other schools.

Calvin Mason is another talented offensive linemen added to the fold in Lawrence, whose skills are nearly even in both run blocking and pass protection. Mason may have a slight edge in pass protection, but he should develop nicely in both disciplines. With top recruit Paul Barber also added to the guard position, coaches are waiting until fall camp to see if either Mason or Barber can make a case to be shifted to tackle. In my opinion, odds are that Barber will shift to the more prestigious tackle position, while Mason will apply his trade inside at guard.

Regardless of position, Mason will redshirt next season. He chose KU over BYU, Texas Tech, UL-Monroe, Utah, Boise State and UNLV.

    #140 #25WR
Sometimes there are only so many scholarships available. When KU's top two targets at WR decided to either commit elsewhere or delay their choice, KU coaches made it clear to Nate Mack, and other targets, that there was only one spot available at wide receiver, and the first player to commit would get that spot. Mack came to Lawrence for a visit in Week 11, and became that player that committed. Mack doesn't have 'ideal' anything when it comes to physical skills, though his combination of size, top-end speed and first-step quickness is intriguing. Where Mack really excels is his ability to run crisp routes and make highlight real catches. Though he sometimes looks ahead to the defense rather than watching the ball into his hands, which leads to drops, Mack's ability to trick defenders with his route running is unparalleled in this year's class, though his film is very similar to Arkansas State's recent signee BJ Calhoun.

With a logjam of youth and talent in front of him, Mack will get a redshirt year to grow. Mack chose KU over Michigan State and Nebraska.
    DE
    #711 #70DE
With the committment of DE Matt Freeman several weeks ago, we discussed how the singular need in this year's KU class was a pass-rushing DE threat. The Jayhawks got such a threat in Freeman, but also added Terrell Rich to give them a double-threat of youth for the next four to five seasons. Like Freeman, Rich possesses a set of skills that are extremely similar to Jace Sternberger's during his breakout junior season, but Rich, like Freeman, is merely a high school senior. Comparing the two, Rich doesn't have the top-end speed that Freeman does, but does have similar first-step quickness and lateral agility. Rich is also more well-rounded in his ability to get off blocks, with both a bull-rush and above-average swim move.

Rich will be allowed to redshirt next season and catch up to the speed of the next level. He chose KU over Clemson.
    TE
    #416 #27TE
TJ Gray is a blocker first at the tight end position, but possesses enough physical and receiving skills to be a threat in the passing game, which is exactly what the Jayhawks were looking for this season. Gray's frame and ability to grab a ball when surrounded by defenders could make him a redzone threat, but first and foremost Gray's balance between helping in the run game and a threat in the passing game will be his strongest suit in the Jayhawks balanced offense.

Gray will redshirt next season with incumbant starter George Glover only a junior. He chose KU over Miami U and Kentucky.

There is only one more player being recruited by Kansas coaches, and he also visited for the win over rival Missouri. He is expected to announce his committment within a week.

With current placekicker Ethan Greene in his junior season, KU coaches wanted to bring in a player to develop into a starter after a redshirt year. Instead of a simple developmental player, they got the strongest leg in this year's class in punter Marc Hines. Hines held both placekicking and punting duties for his high school, and is listed as a punter because both 247 and Scout targeted him as a punter at the collegiate level. Rivals agreed with the KU coaching staff that Hines could play either position at the next level, though his accuracy is erratic at times. Hines has the strongest leg in this year's class, which will match nicely with the similar players that KU has had at the kicking positions in recent years.

Hines will be able to redshirt next season behind Greene, then compete for the kickoff specialist job the next season. Hines will choose KU after receiving no interest from other teams.

Wisconsin added a late but much needed target

Jones is a needed grab for the Badgers as their current FB depth is abysmal with 2 walkons still on the team the past 2 seasons. Coaches have went about fixing that by not using many if any sets that feature a FB or using a TE at the spot. Fortunately the position will have more than enough capable players during the next few years as Coaches plan to move current TE Mayberry to FB allowing James to be redshirted his 1st year on campus. 5-star commit Davidson could also see time at FB depending on what the Badgers do Offensively going forward.

James brings very solid blocking ability already to the table, but with a few years of growth could be an even better force.

Arkansas State showed interest but dropped James off their board.

I found him very late but when I did, I certainly wanted him. I have two FBs that will both be SRs next year so I was hoping to replace one of them with him in order to redshirt him. By you being able to get a Week 15 visit scheduled (and the CPU blocking out Week 14), I really didn't have much of a shot. In reality though, I only removed him today after we advanced.

Yeah once I seen you ramp up points I got nervous. I targeted him late as well, maybe week 13 or 14.

I have a TE that can go to FB, would have put him there this season but couldn't because would leave me with only 1 TE. I've been trying to cut these 2 bums I have now for a while lol

Arkansas State closes out their recruiting by signing the most important target of the offseason.

    OL

With four OL set to graduate after the 2018 season, Arkansas State was intent on making sure they brought in capable replacements for the future. Atkinson (along with Workman) is exceptional and will be a starter in the near future. With very good strength and all-around blocking abilities, though slow movement, he'll fit in perfect as a Center along the OL.

He'll redshirt for his first year but may see significant playing time his second season on campus.

Arkansas State beat out four Texas schools (Baylor, Texas A&M, TCU & Texas) to sign Atkinson.

After the unexpected departure of freshman punter Shaun Jefferson, KU coaches found themselves with an extra scholarship spot, and a sudden need to bring a kicker in, if not this season then next. So they went back to the well and asked a target from earlier this season if he was still interested. Spoiler: He was.

    #590 #3K
With current placekicker Ethan Greene in his junior season, KU coaches wanted to bring in a player to develop into a starter after a redshirt year. That was going to be punter Marc Hines, but Hines will be pressed into service at punter next season after the unexpected transfer of redshirt Shaun Jefferson. Instead, Nate Sanders, who was an early target at kicker for the Jayhawks, will come in as the redshirt kicker. Sanders has been exclusively handling placekicking and kickoff duties for every football team he's played for since middle school, and as a result he has developed a very strong leg. Despite that experience, Sanders does not have consistency in his accuracy.

Sanders will be able to redshirt next season behind Greene, and will take over the placekicking duties the next season. Sanders chose KU after receiving no interest from other teams.
