Gaming Tailgate CFB Weekly Pick-em league

I dunno if anyone is interested but I set up a yahoo college football pick-em league for GT. All you have to do is pick the chosen games every week vs the spread (no confidence points). Thought it would be something fun we could all talk crap to eachother about. Perhaps the mods have some kind of little prize they might be able to give to the winner, I dunno.

Anyway, you'll need a yahoo fantasy account to sign up,

    league #: 9948
    password: tailgate

Hope we have a fair amount of people involved & it could be fun.

*MODS, if this gets a good response is there any way we could STICKY it at the top?*

Oddsmakers set "lines" on the games for wagering purposes. "Betting against the spread" simply means that the "line" will be calculated with the final score to determine which side won the wager. If team A is favored by 7 points (-7), then a wager on team A must produce a final score that has team A winning by at least 8 points for you to win the wager. Team B (+7) must stay within 6 points or win the game to "cover" the spread and win the wager.

    Examples:

    Team A 30, Team B 21 (Team A covered by winning by at least 8 - a bet on team A is a winner)

    Team A 30, Team B 24 (Team B covered by staying within 6 points - a bet on team B is a winner)

Team A 30, Team B 23 (neither team covered - the bet is a "push" or tie)

The Oddsmakers job is to set a line that gets equal money on each side. If they accomplish this, the "house" will always make money because of "juice" (a lesson for another time, lol). This is the biggest reason lines move (or change) from the time they are released until when the game starts. For example, if the majority of the money is being placed on team A, the Oddsmakers will move the line (say to team A -8) to "encourage" more bettors to wager on team B so the house can stand a better chance of having 50% of the money placed on each side.

So... are we picking against the line or just straight up who wins?

I couldn't remember mine when I signed up, so I made a new account.

Just made my picks. I agree with mors - some tough picks right out of the gate.
