    Duke Nukem Forever

Some good news for Duke Nukem fans...it looks like there is a rumor that Borderlands developer Gearbox is working on completing this game!

According to unnamed sources speaking with Kotaku and "claiming to have knowledge of the situation," development on Duke Nukem Forever is continuing -- until completion -- with Borderlands developer Gearbox Software. Stranger still, the sources also claim that a "playable demo" will be distributed at some point "later this year." While Take-Two confirmed that it retains the rights to DNF, it didn't offer any comment on the matter.

Gearbox head Randy Pitchford couldn't say anything either, but did note that he might be able to "better clarify the situation" at this year's PAX Prime. Duke Nukem creator George Broussard declined to comment as well. Although this is most certainly a "rumor" for now, we'd still like to wish Gearbox the best of luck over the next 15 years.

Didn't you ask why I was happy about NBA Jam? It's the whole early gaming days nostalgia for me, I'd LOVE to see a next gen Duke Nukem, especially if it is made from Gearbox.

On top of that I'm sure they have different development teams to be able to do both at the same time. Trust me, Borderlands 2 is currently being developed now, but they still have DLC for the first game to come.

Yes, I agree. The nostalgia factor is definitely there for me as well. I played the hell out of the fps Duke Nukem as well as the platformers before that. I totally get that, but this game is SO FAR beyond vaporware, it's not funny.

And while, yes, I'm sure they have different teams working on this game and Borderlands 2, you have to think, the resources that they are going to use to even make the game halfway good would have to be pretty significant.

I REALLY hope they are starting from scratch or something, otherwise, they are wasting their money and time cause the game is no where close to being finished from everything that I've seen and it's pretty much a mess as they've changed engines like 5 or 6 times during it's development.

So yes, I get the nostalgia factor very much so, but I think it's a horrible idea for a company to try to do anything with this game. It can't possibly turn out well for them unless they start from scratch, which doesn't sound like they are doing from the article.

Why do I feel like they paid $1 to attain the rights?

Why do I feel like there weren't too many hot girls at PAX to fill out those cutouts?

It's still too far out to say that it's coming. Call me on May 4th... then we can talk.

Unfortunately it looks like all Gearbox after they bought it was say "ok, wrap up anything they were working on and we'll ship it as is"... personally it doesn't look worth $60 or anywhere near it.

Lots of Duke Nukem coverage on GametrailersTV last night. The sex/mature gags are in there ... plenty of them, at that.

Yeah, but this is the type of thing that I wouldn't have been surprised to see it toned down after as long as it was in development and with the changes in society that we've had since. But glad to see it in there.

There might actually be more gags in this version than the previous.

    Not a surprise, really.

    GT.TV revealed that
    Spoiler: show
you start the game by playing as Duke playing his own video game, starting with one of the levels from Duke Nukem 3D

I thought that was a pretty cool/smooth move.
