I think it has less to do w/ WVU and more to do w/ the power of stoops.

Nah. If we were still playing like we were playing at the beginning of the season, I think we would have had a chance. WVU always plays VERY WELL at home, but we got destroyed by Kansas State and we haven't looked decent since getting annihilated by Texas Tech.

    Agreed. Oklahoma's a Top 10 team. That's why.

Point being ... you don't need to have a chance. You're on national TV because of Fox's contract and the fact that Oklahoma is highly rated.

Though I'm sure Fox will try to spin WVU as a threat and Geno Smith as a Heisman contender.

I am not betting the farm on a "W" Saturday. OU struggled with Baylor at home and it was not a pretty game to watch.

Wow. Kansas State is going to be #2 in both the AP and the Coaches, but #1 in the BCS. Talk about polls being ridiculous...

Probably their only week in. The MAC has been trading people in and out the past couple weeks. Two weeks ago Ohio was in, lost, dropped out. This past week was Toledo. And with Kent State playing Bowling Green this week, well...

And Northern Illinois is getting no love. 9-1, have won 9 straight after losing by one point to Iowa in week 1. The highest they've been was 26th last week, ended up dropping to 27th this week. No respect for MAC teams from the voters.

Nick Saban's employer and alma mater are both in the Top 25, and with equal records. Love it!

I fail to see an obvious example of what's "ridiculous" in your statement. You're going to need to spell it out.

If you can genuinely tell me that you think Northern Illinois would win 6/10 from Texas Tech or Oklahoma State, I'd buy that they're getting disrespected.

I'm not even sure I buy Kent State as Top 25, as cool as it is to see. Sure, they whooped up on Rutgers, but they also got taken behind the woodshed by Kentucky.

Some great games this week. Toledo-Northern Illinois will be for all the marbles in the MAC West. NIU is 6-0, Toledo 5-1. NIU plays Eastern Michigan next week, Toledo plays Akron, which both should win, so Toledo must win Wednesday night to get the head-to-head tiebreaker. Florida International-Florida Atlantic on Friday night is gonna be another great one. Sure, both teams suck, FAU 3-7, FIU 2-8, both this one should be a heck of a battle Friday night.

Saturday is chock full of great games. UCF-Tulsa, a battle of division leader and a potential preview of the C-USA Championship game. The Game, the 129th battle between Harvard and Yale. Texas State-Navy, which isn't exactly a top biller, but Navy is coming off of a very disappointing 41-31 loss to Troy, Texas State coming out of an absolute battle with Louisiana Tech, and trying to break a three game losing streak. This game is also huge for Navy as it is the final game for the Midshipmen before the Army-Navy game on December 8th. And then that night, it'll be some tough battles for #1 and #2. A college football fan's dream day this coming week.

    Just a personal feeling/thought that I have.

Come the end of the season, there'll be loads of 8-4 and 7-5 teams from the major conferences that will be ranked, but a MAC with 2 or 3 losses, fat chance you'll see them anywhere near being ranked. Even the MAC getting a team ranked took an undefeated Ohio, an 8-1 Toledo and a 9-1 Kent State, with a 9-1 Northern Illinois yet to break the top 25. Any other conference, a 7-0, 8-1 or 9-1 team would be in the top 10 or top 15 right now.

Sure, "the MAC's not on the same level as the other conferences", it's still bullshit in the end. Any other conference, an 7-0 team would be ranked at least in the top 15 and would have been ranked for weeks before that. Ohio didn't make their first appearance in the rankings until week 8, after they got to 7-0. I'm just sick of the bullshit when it comes to rankings. One conference, 7-5 at the end of the season will be good enough to be ranked, but in another conference, 10-2 or 9-3 won't be. It's all bullshit.

It's the same as Middle Tennessee getting top 25 votes simply because they beat Georgia Tech... they lost to a freaking FCS school in the first week of the season.

Come on guys, 1973 for cripes sake, I was one year old the last time Kent St was in the Top 25. Most of you guys were not even born. Show some love. This the fine institution that gave us...

No, bullshit is "this team should be ranked because of their record", no matter who they've played. It's the same crap mindset that people were using to justify that Louisville should have been Top 5, ahead of all the 1-loss teams. HA.

Do MAC teams deserve recognition when they have a good record? Sure. But 10-1 in the MAC isn't even 10-1 in the Big East, let alone 10-1 in a top conference. There's an eye test involved, Smooth.

Now, if your personal opinion is that the Top 25 should be recognizing the Top 25 records, and not whether or not a team would win versus a team ranked below them, that's your prerogative. Mine is the opposite.

I realize there are times that the #1 is not the one that would beat everyone else. That may be the case this week. You do have to recognize records, to an extent. But I wouldn't be in favor of voting for MAC teams just because of their record.

As the last remaining winless team left on the FBS level, looks to go 0-11 as they take on on senior night in Hattiesburg. There will probably be only 40 people at the game. Everyone is absolutely DISGUSTED with what the new coaching staff has done this season.

I call D-line. I played on the O-line and D-line when I still played football, so I'm not gonna pretend I could do something like Defensive Coordinator or LB coach or something.

The funny part is that if we randomly picked anybody off the forum to be coaches, we literally could not do any worse.

i sucked so bad, i couldnt beat out the practice tackling dummy for a spot on the team.

tough call for me. i'm an offensive minded coach, but watching the USC defense all this season has really made me want to become a DB coach. i'm thinking about volunteering at my old HS or another local one to get into coaching....but only if this gig for southern miss doesnt work out.
