Off-Topic gets your thread locked

I guess I can understand that from a moderating standpoint, but part of the fun in waiting for the Buck & Gator rosters is the interaction with other people during the waiting game. Granted, starting new threads to be funny may not have been necessary, but if all the hilarity was contained in the original thread, why not just let it go knowing that in a few hours the talk will return to the rosters anyways? Just a question I have, and I'm not trying to be a dick or be childish because I actually like it here, and you did let us have our fun a lot longer than others did.

Because it's a moderating nightmare... we already had people complaining about some posts in there and there's no way any of us can keep a constant eye as to what is going on in there. But since it was entirely off-topic, and Gator and Block-O have no way to receive valid information in there, there's no point in having it. If you want to have a random, off-topic chat, exchange facebook names and chat on there or something.

Then inside the topic you have people listing porn stars on a site that any small kid could come on, that right there to me was a good enough reason for the thread to get closed.

Plus I know others had this problem, I'd sign in every few hours to look for updates, and I'd have to wade through the posts of everyone talking about nothing, yes there is a search, but I can't search for posts only made by block or gator.

Along the lines of what JSHT21 said... there's no way we can keep track of every post made in a thread that continuously is off-topic. That and as I mentioned, we've received complaints from people inside the thread about some of the posts made in there. It's better to just not open that door.

Umm... play the game? Go outside? You don't have to be on the forums... the last update I'm aware of (which would take hours to try to find) was that they would be posted tonight. So that gave you the entire day that you knew they wouldn't be posted... why not use that time for something else?

You guys came over from OS, while I did too (even though I'm not banned by them) whined about how they were strict and the people were nice over here, then you totally took advantage of the niceness and caused the thread to get closed. Now people who did nothing wrong can't get updates. OS may be a problem, but with posting like you guys were doing I can see why some of you may have been banned.

Well, I can't speak for everyone, but I've been playin the game. And what exactly am I supposed to do outside in 102 degree heat with a dislocated knee and a leg immobilizer? Hence the reason I'm on the forums.

I can understand you taking action if people were overly offended, although the "if you don't like it don't read it" argument could be brought up for that. But at the same time I could see where some people coming for the rosters may not care for some of the subject matter. But I'd imagine if Gator was having problems navigating the thread for updates he would have said so and people would have acted accordingly. I guess for me it's just disappointing that one of the fun things about waiting for the rosters seems to be misunderstood.
