What should I get for my birthday?

I need to let the wife know and I can't decide.

    Apple TV or
    Kindle or
    Haupauge DVR

    Any other suggestions?

I prefer the buffet that is Netflix/Hulu over that a la carte that is Apple TV in terms of watching programs.

I don't read books so I would personally never get a Kindle.

I would have to go with the DVR by default.

Only thing that I'll offer is that the Hauppauge HD PVR can be very time consuming. It's a great device but whenever I edit highlights, it takes a minimum of an hour to edit a full game's video. I know several who have gotten it (or something like it) only to not realize how much time it takes.

Yeah you can get Netflix and Hulu through it, plus I have a ton of movies digitally so it would be cool.

I do read and got the wife one for Christmas and actually use it now a little and I do like it

If you read a TON I would recommend the Nook Color over the Kindle. My wife LOVES hers and I don't think the Kindle has the ability to check out/download books from Public Libraries for free which the Nook does.

I agree, though that'd probably be more of a christmas present than a birthday present.

I've heard the Kindles are amazing for reading and really are quite comfortable to read on. I've been tempted to get one though I'm not sure how they work for DRM free content (can you move ebooks over to them via wifi or are you only able to get books from the Amazon bookstore?).
