Has the previous MNC winner ever not been in the top 5 the next season's preseason poll since we started the whole BCS thing? I'm pretty sure they're always up there next season.

After some quick research, turns out, since the beginning of the BCS formula, no team has ever been lower than #7 the following year in the preseason AP poll:

    98 - Tennessee - #2
    99 - Florida State - #2
    00 - Oklahoma - #3
    01 - Miami - #1
    02 - Ohio State - #2
    03 - LSU - #4
    04 - USC - #1
    05 - Texas - #3
    06 - Florida - #6
    07 - LSU - #7
    08 - Florida - #1
    09 - Alabama - #1

Will be interesting to see what happens with Auburn and their ranking. Gotta think at least top 10, even though there's no way they stay up there long since Newton was pretty much their whole team besides a pretty stout defense.

That's actually my 2011-2012 Pre-Season Hoops rankings as the OP didn't specify which college sport so I went with the one that my school has a shot at so

I dont see Oregon and Boise finishing that high anyway....Stanford changed its coach/culture, theyll probably drop off...

Nebraska having a top 13 year against teams they never play seems a stretch ?

    That's why it's a preseason poll

true, I know, but I like what a friend said last year. Without a playoff system they
shouldnt even bother ranking till after week 2

Stanford promoted their offensive coordinator. I think very little is going to change in the short term for them.

    Plus ... Andrew Luck.

true, but a lot of schools will have faster-dumber guys and thats usually what wins on the field and in the rankings haha

Andrew Luck- helping your team win isnt as important as keeping yourself healthy to further a career (thats just a side note,he will of course play hard)

I did leave that alone haha

Hopefully, they have a decent QB from the get go. I think they could be top 4 in the BIG. As to where that translates in top 25.. I dont know?

The Big Ten is going to be such a mess this year that Penn State has as much chance to win the division as they do to be #3. As for why they're not Top 25 (hard to tell if people are being predictive or power poll), when you don't have a QB you don't have much of a ranking.

I'm torn on this one, as I'm hearing all kinds of stuff from someone in the program that has me just about torqued right now. I'd leave PSU alone right now and root for a bowl game at the most.

Sorry psuexv, and Steelerfan things could be real messy.

Oh and about the QB's, I don't even want to start in on that right now. I might have a convulsion and need medical assistance immediately.

Hey, I cheer for Arizona St. U but there's no way they are top 25 calibre.
