James Harrison and Hines Ward have undergone successful surgeries and Lamarr Woodley got the Franchise Tag. The rest of the offseason is TBD by the CBA.

Thank god Rooney is against an 18-game schedule. That could get some traction with other owners hopefully.

It won't. No way. 18 game schedule is most definitely happening unless there isn't a NFL season to speak of.

Maybe Duerson's suicide will shake some sense into the owners.

I'm not sure the 18-game season is anything more than a threat. We'll see, but I don't think it happens. I think it's something the owners will "concede" to make the Union feel like they "won" something when, in fact, they didn't. Though some players seem willing to concede that facet of the negotiations as well.

I don't know Steeler. One more regular season home date as compared to an exhibition game is a MASSIVE revenue generator. For the owners it's about the bottom line and this will be huge for a lot of teams.

It's only a revenue generator in terms of TV (which is massive, I know). And, not all owners believe it's good or only see dollar signs. I feel like it's posturing, but if the owners don't get back a sizeable chunk of what they gave up in the last CBA they will insist on it. I just have a feeling that the owners are going to win this time around and concede 18 game scheduling. Gut feeling.

If the 18 game season is a go would the season still start at the same time or would the season start two weeks early in late August?

I actually don't think anybody knows right now, jaymo, and I think that's one of the subjects up for discussion. The Daytona 500 moved itself out a week to avoid any potential conflict if the Super Bowl was moved later though.

The NFL has avoided Labor Day weekend for a while now because the ratings always lagged. The season would start at the same time as it has been, I'm sure.

So apparently the NFLPA is de-unionizing so they can sue the NFL. CLW - is this going to work?

Vernon Gholston - biggest defensive bust ever?

Hard to argue with the stats.
