He had 6 defensive TDs....and I don't even know if they counted the option pitch for a TD vs Oregon.

I checked -- he sucks. Best player on a horrible defense, I'm guessing. Same thing for the ECU player last season that had ridiculous stats. He wouldn't even be good enough to start on my team, and that's saying something.

    Bednarik: Jeremiah Robertson, SS, Clemson

    Lombardi: Gibson, Texas
LB of the Year: Tyrone Austin, MLB, Miami
    Thorpe: Roberston, Clemson
Groza: Donny Merritt, Wisconsin (2x winner)

    National Champion
    Clemson (vs. TCU)

    First-team All-Americans:
    QB: Joseph Walker, USC (wtf?)
    HB: Campbell, Texas
    OL: Greg Buchanan, Michigan
    OL: Lawrence Smith, FSU
    OL: Greg Buchanan, Michigan
    DL: Gibson, Texas
    DL: Luke Mason, Florida State
    DL: Brandon Williams, Miami
    DL: Jesse Edwards, Virginia Tech
    LB: Austin, Miami
    LB: Jason Smith, Clemson
    CB: CJ Gross, Texas
    CB: Michael Anderson, Clemson

    SS: Robertson, Clemson
    K: Merritt, Wisconsin

Very weird All-Americans list. The O'Brien winner, Mackey winner, and Rimington winners all don't get 1st Team honors. Wonder if the way EA progresses from Semifinalists --> Finalists --> Winners had something to do with the first two, since FSU stopped playing late in the year.

Walker turned it on late and probably didn't make the finalists or semifinalists for that matter (probably did....not sure)....that Penn State game made his stats kind of sluggish early.

That would probably explain it, my halfback went out for a couple of weeks and Walker took over. I guess it was too late for the awards but the AA nod shows that people do respect the NCAA career TD record holder.

HA!.... you don't throw the ball enough to touch it. The mark is set at 151. Plus McDaniel is going pro.

I will say this though... Last night playing my game I realized I'm not sure what I'm going to do next year without Walker. Since I jumped in late I played I think 4 or so games in year 1 with Barkley and then all of year 2. He left early and I started Walker in year 3 as a true frosh. Now 4 years later he's gone and it seems like forever ago that I played with another QB.

I feel the same about Earl....glad that I'll have Hopkins next season to ease the transition to power backs. Hopefully McDaniel returns....I plan to pass more next season....if not....Joseph is capble of running the option which will be a nice wrinkle with Hopkins' explosiveness.

Heisman Winner: Mike Patterson, WR, Hawai'i (137 receptions, 1706 yards, 25 Total TDs)

    Maxwell: James Crowder, QB, Clemson
Walter Camp: Bryson Hopkins, HB, Texas
    Bednarik: Michael Raymond, SS, Clemson
    Nagurski: Randall Taylor, DT, Miami

    Doak Walker: Hopkins, Texas
    Lombardi: Taylor, Miami
LB of the Year: Chauncey Dukes, MLB, Texas
    Thorpe: Raymond, Clemson
Ray Guy: Howard Campbell, USC (2x winner)
Best Return: Joshua Morales, WR, Penn State

    National Champion
    Miami vs. Penn State

    First-team All-Americans:
    HB: Hopkins, Texas
    HB: Derek Scales, Miami
OL: Henry Fleming, Ohio State (Hey, I recruited him!)
    DL: Taylor, Miami
    DL: Reggie Ellison, Miami (whoa)
    DL: Anthony Strong, Miami (dayyyyymmmmm)
    DL: Dominic Wagner, Clemson
    LB: Adam McLaurin, Miami
    LB: Sam Thompson, Miami
    CB: Ryan Riggs, Clemson
    CB: Travis George, Clemson
SS: Raymond, Clemson (Two straight years, 3/4 All-American DBs are from Clemson)
    RET: Morales, Penn State

So the Best LB and Ray Guy winners both don't earn First-Team All-American. Weird. That's two straight years of that.

My CB's are trash this year, and were last year. I don't know how they got AA, George twice in a row. Maybe it's because they give up so many catches that their tackle numbers are boosted. Raymond is a beast tho

It's due to our sanctions. Our players are allowed to win awards but they aren't recognized by the All American committee.
