kiff can be a good coach. i'll stand by that statement. last year, we played oregon, scored 53 or 51, i forget and lost. we scored 41 against asu and lost. go to any coach in America and tell them that they'd score 50+ and 41 and they'd still lose the game, and they'd laugh at you. my main problem with kiff, is that once he gets the lead, he immediately goes into conservative mode with his playcalling. he's the opposite of PC, who always went for the jugular. he's just like his dad in that sense, and he is a bit of a control freak. during the WSU game, our rb tre madden, rushed for 39 times. our rb coach wanted to sub in other players, but kiff overruled him. same thing happened during utah state only it was with an o-linemen. for some reason, kiff wanted a particular player playing, who kept missing assignments, instead of the backup, whom the o-line coach recommended.
dont even bother bringing up al davis. he was the ultimate control freak owner in the nfl. kiffin is a tremendous, elite level talent evaluator and it greatly shows because he strongly urged davis not to draft jamarcus russell and instead draft calvin johnson. he's also had far more hits than misses in recruiting.
he was fired because he didnt do good enough. cant be mad as USC because there are only a few coaches out there who could have done the same job or better than kiff and they're all at elite universities. given the hand that he was dealt from the start, he'd get a B for his job performance. unfortunately, I and most USC fans/alumni demand higher.
