Couldn't help but notice Heineken changed their commercial. It took them so long, I can't help but wonder why they changed it.
It's the commercial where the guy is pursuing a woman at, presumably, a wedding reception. And he gives her a Heineken, but instead of asking her to dance, asks her mother.
The first version of the commercial called her "prey" and said "makes the prey, submit to him", I believe. The new version calls her a "prize" and says "makes the prize come to him". Can't help but think some feminist objected to the idea of "prey" and "submit", but that commercial's been running for months, if not longer. Weird time to change it.
Yeah, I noticed that myself a week or two ago when I saw the "new" commercial. Definitely makes me curious of what the reason was. And if it was feminist, well, hope she doesn't go to bars, because that commercial ain't the only place that she would be thought of as prey, lol.
Check out the comments section for a ton of rant-y posts about it. http://thesocietypages.org/socimages...-and-the-hunt/
So, my Saturday morning is already off to a shitastic start. I was headed out of town to drive over to Napoleon this morning for my morning show on the radio station over there. Got out on the east side of town ready to jump on 24 and make the drive over to Napoleon when my car decided to suddenly just shut down and die right there in the middle of a road.
So I got to have fun, at 3 in the fricking morning, pushing that heavy bitch down the road to in front of the volunteer fire station out that way so I could get it out of the middle of the road, then I got to enjoy sitting there in a freezing cold ass car for over an hour waiting on the tow truck.
Thank God I had actually decided to leave the house for work earlier than I normally do this morning. After waiting an hour on the tow truck, waiting for him to get the car hooked up, tow it back to my house, get it unhooked, and then me switching cars and hauling ass out of town to get up here to the radio station, I somehow managed to make it into Napoleon and get in studio about 15-20 minutes before I go on air and start my show.
And to add to the joy, we switched to 24/7 Christmas music here on the station yesterday morning at midnight. Listening to nonstop Christmas music is enough to make me want to shove an ice pick in my eye. The week of, even the week before Christmas, fin. A month before Christmas, FML.
My work has done the same thing. It's fuckin' terrible... I hate the shit with a passion already and it's just made it that much worse...
Yeah, I really really hate this time of year working in radio. The week of Christmas, absolutely fine with me, gets me in the Christmas mood. The week before even, in moderation, fine. A month before, ugh. I can only take so much Christmas music at once. I hate to even think about some of the stations in Toledo. One of them, 101.5 The River, has been playing 24/7 Christmas music since midnight on November 1st. :smh:
Been away for more than 2 months, anybody miss me? :)
Where were you?
Usually potatoes go missing around Thanksgiving, they don't show up out of nowhere. :P
:D Is it hanging on the wall on top of a Chinese menu? - I'll take the #8 Fried Shrimp
Brilliant!
Finally! ESPN has listened to the masses and now has a central place to follow the sports we all love! ESPNW. Your one stop shop for all women sports and women athletes, lol.
I'm still waiting for ESPN8: The Ocho to make an appearance. They have just about every other creation under the moon between TV channels and websites online.
Are you fucking kidding me?
EDIT: You're not.

Turrible.
No, no I'm not unfortunately. I saw a story or ad or whatever the hell it was on ESPN.com earlier today about the new site being up. I literally facepalmed.
The link to the actual site: http://espn.go.com/espnw/
I will say one thing, journalist Sarah Spain is smokin' hot:

and apparently she's a pretty good journalist too
Why is this terrible? It's not like you have to watch it.
If there is a market there and ESPN can sell advertising and make money on it why wouldn't they do it. It's a business decision, plus do you know how much money is in womens advertising? If they make themselves seem sympathetic to women they could really cash in.
Well, I will say, right off the bat, whoever designed ESPNw needs to go back to 1st year website design because it's fuckin' atrociously bad. I spent 10 minutes on the freakin' website and couldn't find a damn thing besides the giant frames used for like 5 or 6 stories on the "front page". No place to go to find sports scores (that I could find). Pretty awful shit...
Just finished reading Dennis Lehane's Moonlight Mile... it's a sequel to Gone Baby, Gone (for anyone that saw that movie). Anyway, just like the rest of his books, an excellent read... and for anyone that saw Gone Baby, Gone or read any of his other Patrick Kenzie stories, I definitely recommend checking it out. Amanda McCready is in this book and she's missing again, twelve years later.
What's so laughable / terrible about this? It's not like it's going to be a channel (and even if it was, who cares?) How is this any worse than espnDallas, espnChicago, or, hell, espn.go.com/college-football? That's all it is. They're just branding a part of the ESPN site that already existed.
For anyone that reads Kotaku or any other Gawker sites, if you've registered at their site, Gawker's user accounts have been breached. I highly recommend changing your password on all of your accounts. I just received notification that my gmail account was being tampered with.
Ryan Reynolds is giving up these cans....must be nice to have that option.

I heard that the only reason he was dating her was that he was a big fan of Home Alone 3 and then it just got old for him as he realized he just liked the younger version.

Nice pic, love the Jersey.
We should start a thread like that.
Setting the DVR for SNL tomorrow night. Jeff Bridges hosts.
Somehow some people are annoyed with them but I'm really digging Pomplamoose (the duo that makes the Hyundai Christmas commercials). Listening to their music on Youtube (most of their songs are Videosongs), they really have a sort of old-timey simple sound. Here's a few examples.

I will never understand why Around the Horn and PTI are back to back. I swear their topic list is the exact same.
