Don't get me started on the Crucible. I do not even like PvP but what little I did was poop. What is the logic of leveling players yet letting people use their existing overpowered weapons?
Really do not want to start a new character so until new content pops up I won't be grinding to find shards/energy much more. If you run around chest hunting you will eventually run across a shard/energy but it is very rare. Best option is to do the public events that pop up every thirty minutes but again, you are not guaranteed what you want. The postmaster can be almost as much of a prick as Cryptarch. He even forgets that I successfully completed a public event from time to time, leaving me hanging like Charlie Brown at the mailbox waiting for a letter from that Redhead he was sweet on.
Would love to do the Raid and Nightmare event but another genius move by Bungie was to limit matchmaking to just a few of the strikes. You have to have 6 people to do a Raid, at least you do the first time you give it a go. Other than having a ginormous friends list, it is darn near impossible to start one. I have had some really good random strikes and outside the repetitive bosses, they have been a highlight. Would love to try these events. :(
I do plan on getting the expansion pass, closer to when the first one is to be released. The game plays great, they just need more of it to explore and less of it being the same mission objective. I realize there are limitations to a mission in a FPS but for cripes sake. Dinklebot has to do something, you have to fend off waves and Dinklebot finishes task that allows you to rinse and repeat.
I'm assuming a lot of the design choices was made to extend the shelf life of the game. If everyone could level up easily, everyone would max out quickly and have nothing to do. Seems like the way the game is now, there's always some carrot on a stick out there.
They really are reaching down the bottom of the barrel to show off good reviews.

Boothammer! LMFAO!
I saw that while watching college football yesterday. I absolutely busted. What a joke.
I agree with you. I think their intent was/is to make a game that people keep playing for months on end, if not longer. Now how close they got is up to the individual to decide.
My biggest disappointment was the story and the link below makes it seem as if it was relatively edited/neutered late in the cycle:
Via Reddit: How Destiny's Content COMPLETELY changed over the last year (Contains Spoilers)
Finally participated in a Raid. Someone just invited me random and they had already gone through 1/3 of the Raid, so I missed out on the first part, which is pretty straight forward. Once you get past that... I understand why it took the first group ten plus hours to beat it. We had nobody with any experience at the point we were at and this is a completely different beast from the regular game. This is not a strike and you better have someone with a keyboard handy in your group to search Google on Vault of Glass. The actual fighting was not that bad up until the last boss and his friends. What is a challenge is trying to figure out what to do to move forward. We beat sections of the Raid and I still have no clue how we did it or why certain things happened. There is stealth, platforming, puzzle solving, portals, mazes and numerous new effects and abilities the bad dudes can wreak havoc upon you.
We made it to the final boss but were worn out and had no clue as to the best way to attack it so we plan to try again later in the day. It is worth the effort. Even without beating the boss and missing the first part of the game I netted 2 Legendary weapons and a few shards and energy.
Doubt I would do another run of this particular Raid, possibly with the new ones coming in the expansions. Worth it for the loot but as a first time you have to set aside at least 5+ hours to make it worthwhile. Unless you are running with multiple repeat raiders. It has been beaten in 30 or so minutes but those guys were exceptional players that had run through it multiple times.
Replayed a level 2 mission to get marks for the Queen, and a legendary engram plopped down in front me. It was a legendary helmet, so that puts me over 25 now. Got a little further on 25 after getting the spinmetal needed to boost the legendary boots I have.
By the way, that Loot Cave 2.0 that was discovered, not so great compared to the other.
Tried some Salvage last night. It's great when you have a team that works together. The first couple matches I didn't have that and played against some ringers who were working together well. Once I got one a team that was more about the teamwork, it was fun. I still like Skirmish the best of the modes so far though. Maybe that's because the k/d on Skirmish is the best out of all modes :D
The new rage is Mars, just straight ahead of where you land doing a patrol.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHpdtw5Mr1E
I think the better area on Mars is if you go down the tunnel and then to your right a ways down, head into a building, you get a bunch of Cabal that respawn as you go in and out of it. Plus you can snipe 10 or so from the the top of the building if nobody is around.
Thanks for the heads up. I want a rare or Legandary sniper! Still have the green uncommon version.

If you get a few more levels up give the Queens order strike a try. It is extremely hard but you are guaranteed a Legendary with victory (They are a helmet, chest armor, Sniper or a ship) pretty sure the last two are the rarest. There are a few different orders and if you can get the one on Earth it is fairy short and the easiest of the batch.
* Only snag is that you do not get shards/energy from breaking Queens Order Legacies down. People were spamming the missions and racking up Legendaries to break down so they hot fixed it a while back.
Also keep checking the gunsmith as he has Rare Guns from time to time.
I've done 6 of the Queen's missions and gotten the same helmet 5 times. The other time I got a chest piece.
Got the Zombie Apocalypse machine gun for reaching Crucible rep rank 3. It's ridiculous how good it is. I mowed down people with my regular machine gun, but this thing just rips right through them. I have no problem getting 5 or 6 kills in a single clip.
Also, got the exotic bounty for the Pocket Infinity Exotic Fusion Rifle. Good times are about to be had.
Got an e-mail from Bungie that patch 1.02 is now live.
http://www.inquisitr.com/1512338/des...grade-as-well/
The highly anticipated 1.02 patch for Destiny has officially gone live and is being pushed out to servers on Microsoft and Sony platforms. In addition to Destiny also receiving a fix for the troubled loot system, the Destiny companion app for iOS and Android has also received a big update to make the experience smoother.
The official Bungie news site gave the details of the Destiny 1.02 update which the Inqusitr reported on previously. According to the post from Bungie,
With this patch, we address some widely-discussed concerns with how Engrams are earned and claimed. Strikes have become more rewarding, and the rewards gained from them are more predictable. Also affected is the rotation of maps that appear in the Crucible.
One of the biggest changes in the 1.02 fixes is the way in which Destiny handles giving rewards for activities such as the Strike Playlist and Daily Heroic Missions. Another much needed fix was the end of random decryptions from the Cryptarch in the game.
During play in Destiny, defeating an enemy will occasionally cause a shiny ball to drop which is color coded for its quality: White for the common, green for uncommon, blue for rare and purple for legendary. The issue was that just because a rare blue orb dropped, you did not always receive a rare item from it. When you took it to the Cryptarch for unlocking, he could just as easily give you the less desirable green variety. The 1.02 Destiny patch fixes it so that the loot that is unlocked will always be the same, if not better, as the color of the drop. In other words, a rare blue loot drop, will always contain a piece of rare armor or a rare weapon.
The companion app for Destiny also received a much needed overhaul. On the official Bungie news posts it is stated that the changes include much easier navigation of the exposition heavy Grimoire cards the play unlocks throughout the game. Raid progress is also listed for weekly status. The biggest change to the Destiny companion comes in the department of help and support. Forum topics that have been addressed by an official Mentor or Bungie employee will now display a badge indicating the topic has received some sort of official attention.
The complete list of changes in the Destiny 1.02 patch and the Destiny companion app are listed below for easy reference:

There is a rumor that Bungie is contemplating matchmaking for Raids. Yes, please!
Using Tapatalk on my Samsung Galaxy S5 for shats & gaggles.
Raids could be tough to impossible with matchmaking. If you have multiple people with no headsets and end up with six people that have never been on a Raid you will not make it past the second section. I can see why on the Raids they have been very cautious about this, now that I have gone through most of one. There is so much more to it than just killing stuff and there is absolutely no handholding or directions on what to do or where to go.
Honestly, the whole "no matchmaking on certain events" thing is just stupid. It should have been there at launch. Just like there's no matchmaking on the weekly heroic/nightfall strike because you need to "coordinate." I've beaten both solo, so I'm just assuming that they think their game requires a lot more skill than it actually does. I have zero doubt in my mind that with 6 randoms, people will be able to clear the Raid.
The only issue would arise from people quitting early.
Anyway, got my 3rd character up to level 20+ yesterday so I'm finally done leveling. It is so monotonous. But now that I've put in the time for that, I'll just have to find some legendary gear for my 2 backup characters, and then I'll be able to roll through the weekly heroic strikes on level 28 for a cool 27 strange coins each week.
Iron Banner is also this week. Seriously, though, don't even bother if you're not level 27+ and have the Suros Regime.
Just need to grab a couple hundred more points to get to New Monarchy level 2 and grab some legendary gauntlets or chest armor to bump me up to 26. Got a legendary engram last night, but it was for a Hunter not a Warlock so to the depository it went.
I have not even attempted a raid yet nor will I until they add matchmaking. The game isn't hard at all, they just make it monotonous by requiring you to pump multiple clips of ammo into enemies.
Like I said, they have said matchmaking wasn't added to the harder events because people need to team up and coordinate to beat them. I've beaten the nightfall missions, the 2nd hardest thing in the game behind the raids supposedly, solo. I have almost no doubt whatsoever that if you got 3 good players together they could take down the raid themselves. I've seen a few people beat the raid that I know aren't very good FPS players from playing with them before.
The only reason more people aren't beating it is the fact there's no matchmaking and you need 6 people.
Until you actually play the raid you really can't understand where I am coming from. The original group that beat it took something like 10+ hours. They had no idea what to do and where to go and most importantly why they were all dying. The actual fighting is not the difficult part, it's figuring out what to do and how to do it properly. It is not the same game as a nightmare strike, etc. I have seen a group of three beat it but they were experienced with the Vault. The problem with matchmaking is if you get stuck with 6 first timers, you are screwed. Throw in a lack of people wearing headsets and you are doubly screwed. The only way matchmaking would even come close to working is to always have one member in the group that has beaten the Vault. You keep referring to skill but teams can get by with a couple average players, that know what they are doing.
By now, there's videos and tutorials on just about every part of the Raid, so not knowing what to do should not be an issue. The only issues that would arise would be people potentially quitting and the inability to communicate with people unless they're in your party or fire team. As far as I know, that's something that's being worked on, so I figure when they get voice chat working, we'll get matchmaking for Raids.
Held my own for a while in the Iron Banner before going on a terrible streak and ending at a 0.60 k/d.
Using Tapatalk on my Samsung Galaxy S5 for shats & gaggles.
Once again, the problem I continue to repeat is that matchmaking does not guarantee 6 players wearing headsets. I have played in hundreds of strikes through matchmaking and not once have I talked to another player. The only time I wear a headset is in the Raid, since we go into a party chat. Also. the majority of people will not have watched those videos about eery part of the raid. I was in our raid group last night and brought up matchmaking and they all laughed at the thought of it working, especially the last section.
They can laugh at the idea all they want, but here's a 100% fact:
The reason that they're considering adding matchmaking in the first place is the fact that random people have been meeting up in the Tower and COMPLETING the Raid. As long as you have a few level 28+ players and at least 1 or 2 players who know what they're doing, it's not going to be some monumental task. If people can beat the Nightfall missions solo (did it myself with this week's one as well), I don't think it's impossible for a group of 6 to take down a Raid. I realize a lot of the Raid is knowing what to do, but people will figure it out.
Also, you haven't been hearing anyone on Strikes because you can only chat with people in your fire team. People match made to you in Strikes are not in your fire team, so voice chat is not possible with them unless you invite them to a party. The same goes in Crucible and every other mode - you can only chat with people in your actual fire team, not your match made teammates. I'm pretty sure I've read that they're FOR SURE going to enable this ability later on, which is when I'm guessing Raids will probably get matchmaking.
The Iron Banner is a joke. Damage bonuses and everything else level related are NOT applied like Bungie said they are. People already have done tests on this. A guy shot some level 28 in the head and received 24 damage per head shot. He then used the same gun to shoot a level 17, and got the same 24 damage per head shot. It's truly a joke how much shit doesn't work in this game.
We can do this till the cows go home but one of us has been in a Raid party, the other has not. The three times I was recruited in the tower to join a raid, it was a prerequisite that I had headphones on.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GxmZ3Vscamo
I will gladly continue this conversation once you have actually joined a Raid.
Hence why I said that "once we get voice communication outside of fire teams, we'll get matchmaking in Raids." I actually think I said that twice. That was never the argument. The argument is that it's ridiculous to think that 6 people who don't know each other can't beat the Raid. And that's exactly what it is - ridiculous, which is why they're looking into adding matchmaking.
Like I said, as soon as we can voice chat outside of fire teams, there's no doubt in my mind that we'll get matchmaking for Raids.
Alright, beat it. I don't even think it took 2 hours from a fresh run. My opinion on at least the regular mode (not hard mode) remains unchanged. With at least 1 person who knows how to do things/where to go, it's absolutely beatable with randoms as long as they can communicate. The only thing that's remotely challenging about it is knowing where to go and what to do. The combat itself is no harder than any of the heroic/nightfall strikes, IMO.
Once they add voice communication to non fire teams, I still think we'll see matchmaking in Raids.
Also, only got the Chatterwhite shader and some shards off the final boss. That sucks.
What I have been saying for some time. It was never about the gunplay. You obvious played with people who knew what they were doing, otherwise it would have taken you far longer than 2 hours. Of course, if you have matchmaking and half the team does not own or use headsets with mics. you obviously can see where I was going. Especially the last part where you are calling out the planet you are on so the gate can be opened. Who is covering which side, etc, etc.
I don't think I ever disagreed with that. There is absolutely no way in hell it can be done without everyone having mics. So if Bungie does add matchmaking, perhaps they could require that you have a headset plugged in before you're able to enter matchmaking for Raids.
I'd say the chances that at least 1/6 knows what to do would be relatively decent, so the only thing I see holding back Raids are not everyone having a mic or if people started quitting. The group I played with definitely knew what they were doing and I was able to kill stuff super fast with my weapons, so that probably helped cut the time down. If we hadn't messed up at the end a few times, we probably would have been in around the 60-90 minute mark for completion.
Anyway, I do see the point about randoms without mics. However, I still feel it's more than beatable if everyone has mics, is willing to communicate, and there's at least one person who knows what needs to be done.
Didn't notice during the Raid but I also received the Universal Remote, which I was telling my friend about the other day. Nothing like having a shotgun that has that kind of range. :D
You can do them with less than 6. ;)
