Nah, just a dumbass who somehow set my catching adjustment to aggressive when I meant to set it to conservative at the start of the game. :fp:
Much better now that my receivers are actually trying to make catches. No more drops since then, just completed pass, bad passes and passes broken up by the defense. Though I think I am going leave my sliders from '13 dead and buried and stick with jaymo's sliders that he created for the demo. I'm liking them so far. May end up making some adjustments here and there, but they're making for a fun game against Utah so far.
Ok, that statement is valid when it comes to defense. I just got torched by Utah's QB for a 57 yard touchdown, missing four different times while trying to tackle him. :fp:
Sure, this literally my first time playing defense since NCAA '12 came out, since I've been nothing but an offensive coordinator in '12 and '13, but wow, that was abusive. :smh:
Get used to it. I've put up 600+ yards multiple times already using Texas Tech against much superior teams. The pass defense is just atrocious and when you're willing to mix in a few of the overpowered read options, you've already got yourself an impossible to stop scheme. I don't think I'm even going to bother with online this year. Considering how much it annoys me having to score every single time to win a game, there's no point.
KR/PR Interference penalties set to 100 works. :D
I just punted the ball and the Utah punt returner called fair catch. That didn't matter to one of my players as the returner caught the ball, only to be instantly leveled by my player, called for PR interference. :D I would probably be pissed, but my guy absolutely leveled the shit out of him, causing me to jump to my feet and let out a loud "HELL YEAH!"
Yeah, I knew there was a bunch of stuff last year for head coaches, like finishing in the Top 75 or 50 or whatever, finishing in the top 4 of your conference, winning X amount of games, the various recruiting goals, etc. But at least thus for '14, all I've seen of a coach contract is that I'm expected to win 6 games a year based on the historical benchmark from the last 30 years. Other than that, I don't see a single damn thing regarding goals that I need to meet like the last two years have brought.
Yeah, I may need to do some editing to the CPU sliders. :D
At least so far, early second quarter, it's been a decent game. I'm winning 14-7 (thanks to an interception returned for a touchdown), I have a 6 to 4 edge in first downs, Utah has a 120 to 110 edge in total offense. I've punted three times, they've punted two times. So it's a pretty decent game going on so far, with Utah the somewhere superior team. I'm definitely forced to battle for my yards and points with the current sliders I'm rolling with. Some fine tuning both in terms of sliders and maybe some changes via patch from EA, and I could be happy with the gameplay of '14.
Can someone plz post the link to the defensive sliders that was given out for the demo?
Game is solid IMO, better than I actually thought it would be.
Presentation is actually good IMO. By that I mean as far as how the stadiums look at various times of the day, the colors, camera view, etc. I'm not talking stat overlays or replays, or camera angles in the huddle. Just pure visuals. I played a game yesterday at LSU around dusk and it looked great. So to me the visuals stand out and look good. It makes you feel like you are in a college football environment. But this next thing IMO hurts the Presentation of the game
Sound, can barely hear it. I always turn the crowd volume up to 100 and take everything else down. In previous versions it was loud and you could really feel the crowd. I remember playing games where I had to turn the volume down because the constant noise was getting to me lol. Not this version, even though the commentators say "man this place is always loud", etc...yet you can barely hear them. It's a shame too because the camera angle in previous versions didn't make you really feel like you were in a college football atmosphere. Now they fix that, but then the sound takes it away.
Gameplay, the frustrating parts are the Read Option being so effective and lack of Defense against it...as well as Defense as a whole. The "superman" trip tackles are rather annoying as well. I will say I am glad they finally added a slight delay to the way the screen flips on turnovers. It was entirely too fast previous versions which made me actually run the wrong way after the fact.
All in all I could really enjoy the game and have fun playing it, just don't know if that warrants enough for me to purchase it. I could eventually deal with the Read Option and the lack of Defense since I covet Defense over Offense and really focus on it, as well as other things I'd get use to. But the crowd volume takes away from the game. You give me that along with the current Presentation and I'd likely be sure to buy the game.
Will the game be available for digital download on PS3?
This game would be amazingly great if there was better pass defense, toned down read option, & that shoe string tackle animation was toned down. Besides that, I'm having a lot of fun with it.

Oh and I've never ran back or nearly ran back so many kick returns throughout the entire NCAA series combined
On Heisman difficulty.
I should have 5 more kick return TD's than I currently have (3) in 7 games. But I got caught with one of those trip tackles by the last guy who I appeared to be 5 yards in front of atleast.
That isn't the problem. The all at once great pancake blocking by my return team is.
Found a glitch btw. Playing online in a really good contest, which ended bad. I throw a pass to the front corner pylon, it was picked off (sideline pick animation), just a beautiful sequence. I wasn't mad. But, when he tip-toed out of the endzone, it gave my opponent a TD, rather than a first & 10 from the 20, he then was able to kick the extra point. Luckily, I don't take ranked games super serious. Can devs forward this along please?

Hurdle to counter the shoestring.
When the Defenders are behind you?
You would think they can just be outran, especially when they take horrible angles. It's like they purposely get behind you just to do that and so far it's worked everytime.
I have had a few where I try to turn the corner, appear I have the corner and will outrun the Defender only for them to get a generous launch for the tackle.
Agree about seeing this on the demo, not necessarily was it a shoestring tackle though. Haven't played the retail version yet.Quote:

Can anyone tell me how to edit my coach's record?
My experience was from playing the full game via Season Pass. It definitely does still happen for both that tackle and what you are likely seeing.
I didn't play the demo, couldn't get it installed.
Now the first game I played against G, don't think I seen many of these tackles.
Go into Team Management, Edit Coaches and then find your coach. It'll be the second or third page of options. His first/last name, physical details, Alma Mater, etc on the first page, then second page should be his records, third page his offensive strategies and settings, etc.
I noticed something I liked in my first online match before my power flickerd :smh:. The guy ran a read option towards my saftey who was a star player and he didnt crash down on the dive fake. Maybe its something to do with ratings?
Anyone seeing injuries??? Seven games in and I don'thave any injuries. This is why an injury slider is so badly needed.
Probably going to get this in the next two days.
With the deal at Best Buy and the other deal IOU told me about, I'd potentially get the game for free and have money left over.
Plus I'd be trading in games that I don't/won't ever play again...and one that I'm growing tired of
These guys here have a habit of enticing you to getting the game as well lol
Jaymo76, alot of my dynasties have been spent running out of the I formation. I ran alot of triple option, power option, slam, tackle, FB dive, Iso, etc. Good times. I would use the twin HB package and would shred defenses but still get a challenge on Heisman. Believe it or not I still have the sliders on default. The recruiting is simple but fun on that game as well. I would love to talk more with you about 06 if that okay with you. The game is just too much fun and challenging not to be talked about.
I've been busy starting my own plumbing company and completely forgot about NCAA. My wife and I went walking the mall yesterday to get out of the Texas heat 97, we walked by Gamestop and I saw a sign in the window that said NCAA14 available now...I was like WOAH! I went in and asked the guy when it it came out, he said "Today!", I was like well see how things work out :)
Fired it up late last night and got 1 quick game in with my Aggies. The game seems good, it's cool how they play some of the A&M yells in the background. I haven't seen the yell leaders yet, I thought I remembered reading or seeing a post that it would have them this year instead of cheerleaders.
Kyle Field looks nice still wish they'd put the cannon in the corner that we fire on kick-offs and TDs, we also have a large American flag and a Texas flag, the game has always just shown small Texas A&M or SEC pendents. It would be nice to see the 55 American Flags that circle the top of the stadium, they are part of the Memorial for the Aggies lost in service to our great country. With the redrawing/re-rendering of Kyle Field by EA last year, I kinda hoped they would add these features, but I'm sure all that takes up space so what they have is nice.
The game feels good, again only 1 game under my belt, I start the new NCAA year again with the same problem I always seem to have....picking a playbook.
2 things I do like. 1) there is NO code to enter to play online, if you buy the game used I assume it will work online, that is nice. 2) I used the A&M playbook and ran no-huddle like no tomorrow...FAST FAST FAST just like Coach Sumlin likes it...there was no silly "running up the score" warning like there used to be. There were no warnings for passing or being "un-sportsman-like" for passing the ball for 7 yards on 3rd and 6 when I was up by 20. I've never been one for running up the score but I like that it lets me run my offense and doesn't do that stuff like it did in the past.
EDIT: I was wrong, didn't get enough play time in for a decent review. I'm sure I still haven't seen 1/10 of it, but the good news is they DO have the yell leaders. I started a "new season" with A&M and in the intro to the game it shows the yell leaders along with Reveille next to a Corps of Cadets member.
One quick thing I see that I don't know if it's been passed onto the programmers.
In the Advanced Controller options for Ball Carrier, on the PS3 it says to Tap the R1 to cover up the ball and to HOLD the R1 to change the ball to the other hand. It's actually reversed.
Tapping R1 causes the ball carrier to switch the ball over to the other hand.
Holding R1 causes him to cover it up.
Same goes for the "triple option only pitch" the game says to press R1, but L1 causes the pitch.
1. Yeah, EA did away with Online Passes, I think it was May. So new games there are no online passes, and even old games they have been gradually disabling the Online Pass systems in those games, so you can buy any used EA game now and fire it right up with no problems.
2. I didn't notice until someone else mentioned it, but it appears that EA has finally removed Season Showdown from the game. I at least haven't seen it anywhere since it was mentioned about it seemingly being removed. So if EA really did kill off Season Showdown, then we'll no longer have to worry about seeing those warnings and crap from running up the score, going for it on fourth down, etc.
Noticed early on but forgot to mention, that hits look and seem very physical and violent.
Nice added touch, in terms of the Force Impact system and integration of the IE.
In that game against G, I recall his RB just absolutely barreling over my Defender when I tried to make a tackle.
Lastnight I really focused in on the tackles and hits, and how naturally most of them appeared.
Definitely nice addition that stands out in this version.
Now if they can enhance the crowd noise and Defense, this becomes an even more solid game IMO
Wondering if keeping speed threshold higher, like at 50 or perhaps even higher, will help DBs stay with receivers. I've barely run it at 50 when the game first came out, as I moved it quickly to anywhere from 25-40 as I wanted speed guys to stand out as dangerous. Thinking that might be cratering the DB play, not that the zone play would be fixed, but seeing way too much gap between CBs and WRs, especially given the CBs are rated 94 and 92 in man coverage and 94 and 96 in zone coverage...........
