I don't think I'll get the camera. I didn't use the PS Move as much as I thought I would have. Kinda cool at first, but I'm a lazy gamer.
I definitely won't get a camera. Hell I need that for?
That would be cool to show someone who isn't into gaming or technology once. Then it would be useless as wet toilet paper.
Hahaha especially if it doesn't work on the 1st "Xbox Watch TV" command. "Damn it I'll just turn it on"
Yeah, I couldn't give two shits about the TV stuff. I'm getting the Xbox One because of the exclusives (and very much due to the new Halo in 2014). I also use my Xbox for Netflix and Amazon Video, but the rest of the stuff, I don't really bother with. Whether I keep my PS4 pre-order is going to depend solely on the list of PS4 exclusives between now and September.
I like how Sony came out right away and said a couple of the PS4 PSN titles will be free on PS+ like Don't Starve.
Right in the grill.
I went and pre-ordered a PS4 today from Gamestop. $100 deposit up front. Thankfully, I had games and such to trade in so there was no out of pocket cost to me. They are offering $110 trade on my 250 GB PS3 Slim. I'm thinking about going ahead and trading it in while the value is still somewhat high.
Sweet Naitch. We'll have to have some next gen wrestling battles for WWE 2KWhatever. (not sure if this year will be on next gen or not)
That very well could be the case. :D
I know I'm sure as hell not excited about TV stuff. I wish all this TV and entertainment garbage would just die. I already have devices for that; I don't need my gaming console to do it, too.
Sony is officially included with that since they decided to dedicated 15 minutes to some dude rambling on about entertainment and then mentioned their console as the number 1 device for watching Netflix. Seriously, I miss the PS2 days.
Absolutely. I have it reserved but they better reveal something else than what they have. I thought their conference sucked. The only redeeming qualities was the price and the hilariousness of them dogging Microsoft. Their games sucked ass. Hardcore.
There's another conference coming up soon so I guess they're going to be revealed there.
Okay, but where were they? They didn't just not have shooters, they didn't have much of anything! The funny thing is the only new exclusive they revealed, The Order 1886, is a shooter. :D
I know you don't like shooters, so you probably really weren't all that impressed by Microsoft's conference. However, as a shooter nut, I was blown away by it. The Xbox One became a day one purchase the second they showed off Titanfall running on the One. Dead Rising 3 is also right up my alley. There were more, but those 2 (and Ryse) really looked impressive to me.
I'd be willing to bet that Titanfall becomes a timed exclusive... this generation it will be too easy to port from XB1 to PS4 & vice versa. That's why Trials is coming to PS4 I imagine.
According to an insider, it's a 1 year exclusive. If Microsoft throws more money at them, it could stay exclusive. I don't think that will be necessary, though, by the time it comes out a year later, I'd assume most of the interest would be dead by then.
But, that same insider was wrong about multiple things yesterday, so it very well could be a full exclusive.
I'm curious about how Sony was able to make the console $100 than Microsoft was able to do with their console. Both consoles are basically exactly the same when it comes to parts. I wonder if Microsoft's is more expensive because of their need to pay extra for Blu-ray drives or something.
I'd be VERY interested to see what Sony's plan was with the cost of the console and if they are actually making money off their sales of the console or if they are banking on exclusives and software to make their money back. Lower prices on the console almost guarantees that, with the power of this console, they are going to beat Microsoft when it comes to volume of sales, so, I would think, their idea would be to take a loss on the console, but bank on exclusives and software in general to help make their money back.
Kinect. Without Kinect, you're looking at a $400 package. Guaranteed.
Yeah, it's unfortunate, too. If they would've designed the console so that it was an optional thing like with 360, I could have gotten a regular One with $400. Now, I'm going to pay an extra $100 for something I wont ever use. That burns me over a hell of a lot more than the 24 check in and used games stuff.
Oh well, I'll hold out a glimmer of hope and say that since every One user will now have Kinect, maybe they can actually make it useful (yes, I know, INCREDIBLY wishful thinking).
PS4 now sold out at Amazon. Unbelievable how quick both of them went. Less than a day for both.
EDIT: I should note that while the launch day consoles are now gone, they've put up order pages for the 2nd batch for both Xbox One and PS4.
Yeah I called my mother this morning and told her if she wanted one guaranteed for Christmas for the nephew to let me know ASAP. Just called her to tell them Amazon was sold out of guaranteed release day. Any clue/guesses how likely it is if I ordered one for her now if it would get to her by Christmas?
Release day? I sincerely doubt it. Christmas, though, I'd say is pretty certain. If you order now, you're getting no worse than the 2nd batch (and even if you order now, there's still a possibility you'll get it on release day - it all depends on how many Sony is able to manufacture), so yeah, I'd say you would be safe getting it well before Christmas.
I'm guessing these consoles are going to launch around the last week of October/first 2 weeks of November, so they should have gone through 3 or 4 batches before Christmas.
EDIT: Official message from Amazon regarding ordering a PS4 now:
Quote:
The standard version of the PlayStation 4 is identical to the Launch Edition. Due to high demand, we cannot guarantee Release-Date Delivery on the standard version of the PlayStation 4. We will deliver the standard version of PlayStation 4 as close to its release date as possible.
Not sure if this has been posted yet. All the vents appear to be in the back.

Yeah she doesn't care about release day it is a Christmas gift. She called the local Gamestop. They got 20 PS4s and 15 XBoxOnes (maybe MS is behind on manufacturing). They have 2 PS4s and 2 XBoxOnes left couldn't take a pre-order over the phone so she is driving approx 15 minutes to try to get it ordered before the store closes and/or they sell out.
This shizzle is going to be insane this Holiday season with late arrivers trying desperately to get a nice gift and people selling them on ebay for 5 times the price.
Go to amazon and double check (click on launch edition and should show that you pre-ordered it) but if you ordered last night you most likely got "launch edition" amazon just wants to keep selling $400 systems while letting the consumers know they might not get it at launch
I can't wait for the Black Friday videos of people stomping the shit out of each other trying to get a next gen console. I love them.
No, you're fine. It didn't say "launch day" until they ran out of guaranteed first day systems. All systems ordered last night and up until about 7 p.m. EST today are guaranteed launch day consoles.
