With release of NBA 2K17 a month away, the NBA 2KCast returned and outlined some of the upcoming marketing schedule.

Hosts Ronnie Singh and Chris Manning also briefly recapped the recently released #FRICTION trailer and the announced the ten community members who will visit the NBA 2K studio in Novato, California next week to see the game and then share impressions with the community afterwards.

NBA 2K has finally started to release NBA 2K17 game media and information beginning with a new 'The Dream Lives On' trailer with the 1992 'Dream Team' facing the 2016 USA Basketball team.

The video of the two teams squaring off begins with them lined up for the National Anthem with the song continuing throughout gameplay. Noticeable in the video is an improvement in graphics and also player models, as evidenced by changes to Kevin Durant. Digital Marketing Manager Ronnie Singh stated in a tweet that "we all thought we were tapped graphically on this gen, but graphics have taken a LARGE leap as you'll see in this & future vids."

More game information is expected to coincide with the 2016 Rio Olympics over the next 10 days and also during Gamescom, which takes place August 17-21. Continue on to see the trailer and then share your thoughts with the community. ...

NBA 2K17 has released the first in-game screens for this September's upcoming release.

They include a look at the 1992 USA Basketball Dream Team, the 2016 USA Basketball team, and the new look for MyTeam cards in 2K17.

Confirmed via Twitter, the 2016 USA Basketball team - including head coach Mike Krzyzewski - will be in NBA 2K17.

Also announced via social media, the 1992 USA Basketball "Dream Team" will be available for users who pre-order the game. Community Manager Ronnie Singh later confirmed that this will include the entire roster, meaning that Scottie Pippen and Charles Barkley have been signed to deals. (The 92 squad was previously in NBA 2K13 with Pippen as the lone holdout. Barkley has typically been difficult to sign, but was in NBA 2K13.)

No screenshots or details on modes for either squad have been released at this time.

Aside from pre-order content and SKU announcements, the first game details have been announced for NBA 2K17. Coming to MyGM and MyLeague will be full-fledged league expansion, allowing users to increase their league up to 36 teams.

When starting MyGM/MyLeague, users can begin with the standard 30-team league, expand up to 36 teams, or completely customize the league including divisions and mixing & matching current, classic, Euroleague, et al. teams.

The game will come with 10 created squads, such as the Nashville Stars, Louisville Liberty, Kansas City Knights, San Diego Surf, Pittsburgh Force, and the Baltimore Barons. These teams will come with full branding including logos, uniforms, and arena. Users will have the ability to create their own teams and share/download them in-game with other users.

The development team has also tackled the challenge of adding in properly generated schedules for 31-36 league teams, player protections, expansion drafts, and more.

Also, as evidenced in the three screenshots within the blog, NBA 2K17 will feature a simplified menu system. This is a change that was desperately needed as it had become cumbersome to navigate the in-game menus and the game appeared dated in how it handled navigation. It remains to be seen how/if menus in-game have been simplified and/or improved.

The season two finale of NBA 2KTV featured host Rachel DeMita and NBA 2K's Ronnie Singh who, between jokes, provided some of the first info on September's NBA 2K17.

- Presumably primarily featured as a shoe option within MyPlayer, Yeezy's will be a new in-game choice.
- Timed Locker Codes. Free Agent cards will allow for the timed cards, giving all users chance to play as or try a certain card/player before they expire.
- Face Scan App. Some of the biggest complaints of 2K15 & 2K16 were challenges in getting the console specific camera scan to work and also the decrease in face scan import from 2K15 to 2K16. In the video, Singh implied that 2K17 will utilize a face scan app on mobile devices.
- According to developer Mike Wang, 2K17 will feature the most signature animations of any game to date along with full control of get-back animations with the right stick.

Similarly to last year, fans who pre-order NBA 2K17 will receive/be able to play the Early Tip-Off Edition; this year on Friday, September 16. (Presumably the game will be available for those who do not pre-order on Tuesday, September 20.)

Officially announced during the finals of the NBA 2K16 Road to the Finals championship livestream, Paul George will be the NBA 2K17 cover athlete for the standard ($60) version of the game. The cover is very similar in design to that of NBA 2K16 (which featured Curry, Harden, and Davis) in featuring several images of George. One background image is of him in his Team USA jersey, which could infer the inclusion of Olympic squads in NBA 2K17.

The Pacers' star suffered a compound fracture of both bones in his lower right leg in August 2014 during a Team USA scrimmage. He would return to play the final six games of the 2014-15 season. This season he helped the Pacers to a 45-37 record and a playoff appearance while averaging a career high 23.1 PPG.
