Following months of speculation and rumors, CEO of Superstar Games Damon Grow revealed in an interview with Unreal Engine's Dana Cowley that Joe Montana Football will be a mobile game, coming first to iOS in Q1 or Q2 of 2016.

The news came as a disappointment to some following alleged 'confirmation via sources' - both public and anonymously - that the game might be a AAA console title that would be a direct competitor to EA SPORTS' Madden NFL franchise. Grow stated that following the iOS release, the game will be developed for Android, eventually PC and if successful, then perhaps major consoles.

The Unreal interview provided a brief look at the game, which will be using Unreal's Metal Rendering API. An interview with 1080Players' Eric Webster provided the best insight into the game thus far, though the majority of details will not be released until a later time. ...

Coming to Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR is a new feature taking advantage of the game's fantasy elements, the Night Club Challenge.

Set at night, the mode features hundreds of challenges that will test the user's skill while also unlocking fantasy golfers, courses, and rare apparel. The mode appears to borrow some basic elements from the Tiger Challenge in previous versions of the franchise, but have been amplified with adding arcade and fun elements.

Players will earn points for everything they do and will need to rack up a big score in order to achieve the maximum three stars for each particular challenge. One star is necessary to advance past the challenge to the next. Three courses host the Night Club Challenge: Wolf Creek, Paracel Storm, and Coyote Falls. Boosts can also be unlocked to help complete the challenges.

    Article Preview

During Monday's EA E3 press conference, Madden NFL Producer Seann Graddy (with the help of ESPN's Robert Flores) revealed a new feature coming to Madden NFL 16: Draft Champions.

Designed to be Madden NFL's answer to Fantasy Football, the mode allows users to quickly draft a team of players to improve their low-rated base roster that they can then compete with online or solo (offline). If they can win the necessary number of games (four online, three solo), they will be considered a Draft Champion. This brief length is designed to allow the entire mode to be completed in one sitting.

Early community feedback on the mode has centered on how Draft Champions will co-exist (if not compete) with Madden Ultimate Team. With some similarities, will users be able to placate their desire to play MUT with the (presumably) 'free' Draft Champions? Perhaps this mode is not meant to compete with MUT, but rather (as Graddy alludes to the opening) be a mode to entice Madden Mobile fans to make the move to console.

EA SPORTS has released the first trailer for NBA Live 16 during E3 today.

The trailer showcased what appears to be new pre-game intros, player emotions, and a bevy of new gameplay improvements and animations. At the end of the video was a quick look at what appears to be Brooklyn's Tobacco Factory courts.

During EA's on-stage presentation, it was revealed that NBA Live 16 will have a mobile app that will allow users to scan their face for use within the game and in various modes. The app (showcased by 'ThaHoopGawd') will be available just before launch of the game, which was confirmed for September 29. Along with EA Access, this allows users (minus those on PS4) to play Live 16 'early,' matching competitor NBA 2K16.

The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) takes place this week from Los Angeles and will feature reveals, coverage, and interviews surrounding all of the latest and upcoming video game titles.

Among some of the top sports gaming headlines we expect to emerge from E3 2015:
    • The anticipated confirmation (and details) of Joe Montana Football 16. After months of speculation and rumors, E3 should finally shine a light on this much-discussed, but little-known title. Is it a console, mobile, or VR title? Does it even have a publisher?
    • The return of NBA Live. Seemingly hid in the marketing shadows the last two years, it is expected that NBA Live 16 will be shown on-stage in a serious fashion during EA's press conference Monday afternoon with gameplay information disclosed. (Competitor NBA 2K16 is not expected to be at the show.)
    • Feature news on NHL 16 & Madden 16. Both have fall release dates so complete feature sets may not be revealed this week, but fans will still likely be clamoring to learn if NHL offers a more complete feature set at launch and what the improved WR/DB & passing interactions mean for Madden.
    • The return of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5. A once-proud franchise looks to return from the ash bed of history. Early screenshots were not impressive, but perhaps gameplay and feature set information can change the attitude surrounding this title.

Other major titles with significant coverage at E3 include: Uncharted 4, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, Star Wars Battlefront, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Halo 5: Guardians, LEGO Dimensions, Assassin's Creed Sydicate, as well as surprise reveals expected to occur.

The Gaming Tailgate has all the links you need to keep up with E3 2015. Continue on to see a schedule and links to E3 coverage from around the web that will be updated throughout the event. ...
