Q: What can I install on my external storage device?
A: You can install games, downloadable content, and apps on your storage device.

A: No. Game saves are automatically stored in the cloud and synced to the Xbox One console.

A: No. For the initial release of the external storage feature, media files, including music and videos, are not supported. We are considering this for a future release.

Q: Can I copy or move a game from my internal hard drive to my external storage device?
A: Yes. Check out the content management features by going the Manage page for the game or app.

Q: Can I use my external storage device with my PC as well as my Xbox One?
A: No. The external storage device will be formatted for use by the Xbox One console only. PCs won’t recognize the drive partition created by the Xbox One.

Q: Can I re-format my storage device from my Xbox One console?

The external HDD is definitely a nice feature (especially for those going digital). I still haven't filled up the PS3 1 TB hdd even with all the free + games so I'm sure my 1 TB HDD for the PS4 will last me a good chunk of time but it would be nice to add something just huge via USB.

It's not just you, its anybody streaming. When I'm not online on my 360 or One, I couldn't care less who is streaming and what they're streaming. Notifications on my phone that someone is streaming is nothing but an unneeded annoyance.

Thankfully I was able to find the option to turn it off in the Smartglass settings. Finally I can have peace on my phone again.

I already found it. There was an option in the Smartglass settings to turn on and off notifications for when someone on your friends list starts streaming.

I already have enough notifications pop up on my throughout the day between sports stuff, texts and Tapatalk alerts. I don't need a dozen different notifications because someone started streaming on Twitch on top of that all.

What exactly would I be defeated in if Sony ends up outselling Microsoft? The last I checked, I'm not affiliated with either one of them.

His reading comprehension is just really bad. When someone says frame rate is more important than resolution, he takes it as 1080p 60FPS < 720p 60FPS, which is obviously wrong, and also obviously not the point.

900p 60FPS > 1080p 30FPS would be a much more realistic comparison. Hence, I would rather have 60FPS than I would 1080p if given the choice. 900p and 60FPS is the sweet spot for me. If it hits both of those, I'm happy as can be.

Pretty sure most of it was phantom reports by butt hurt PS fanboys honestly. :D

No one I know had any problems and I logged on/off myself at least half a dozen times yesterday with no problems whatsoever. There was a Xbox Live service alert yesterday, but there's been service alerts for the past several weeks. The weird thing is that I've been having issues with achievements unlocking. I'll meet the requirement, and it'll say "100%" complete, but it'll still be locked. Usually a few hours later it'll just randomly unlock.

This all started around the time they were integrating Xbox One stuff with xbox.com, so I figure that probably has something to do with it.

I traveled a ton (nearly 100 nights a year) back when I lived in RI. A maintenance worker at Marriott gave me the tool to take the caps off of any/all the protectors they use. I simply called the desk and made a request for them to help me hook up my PS3. They noticed my Platinum status with the brand (so pretty much anything within reason I ask for they gave me) so the maintenance guy apologized profusely said they get this request allot and he just gave me the tool.

Needless to say the guy got a VERY nice review from me and I took the time to personally email Marriott to thank him for his help (of course I didn't tell them he gave me the tool).

Yeah, going from my last Sony console being a PS2 that I never connected online, to years with a 360 and 7 months at the time with a Xbox One, it was definitely a big change when I first fired up my PS4. There are still a lot of things I don't know how to do on PS4 or features I don't try out simply because of the lack of ease of use. It's mainly turn my PS4 on and start playing a game and that's it. Hell, I still have no clue how the hell to create a party chat.

I still enjoy my PS4 and play it often, but Xbox 360/One definitely wins hands down in terms of ease of use and the number of features available. Probably my biggest regret last gen was not also getting a PS3 in addition to my 360, because there were a lot of PS3 exclusives I would have loved to play.

Future Xbox consoles will always be a guaranteed purchase for me, if possible day one, because of the ease of use, the features MS has and how good Xbox Live really is. However, I'm also going to now be seriously looking at buying Sony's next gen consoles at launch as well or within a year of release like this time around with the PS4.

Sony just needs to work on ease of use, add some more features, figure out a way to keep PSN from going down what seems like every single week lately, and, in my opinion but cause I've just never been much of an Indy gamer, get some better PS+ deals, especially if you're going to force people to buy PS+ to play multiplayer from now on. While we're only coming up on the first year on the market, the console is still new and young in its lifespan, after seeing all the great games put on PS+ on the PS3 the last couple years, so far, PS+ games on the PS4 have been very underwhelming for me.

Can you elaborate what you mean by ease of use? I don't find the PS4 difficult and I have used Party Chat a few times to talk to jaymo. I'm guessing that either A) you find it difficult because you haven't been on a Sony console in a long time and have gotten used to MS's way of doing things or B) I don't know anything but Sony so I don't realize how much simpler it could be.

Also, what features does Live have that you guys miss on PSN? Just curious, il I'm betting that most wouldn't interest me but I would like to know what they are.

Using an external drive? If so, go to Settings > Power & Startup > Make sure "When Xbox is off, turn off storage" is UNCHECKED. In the same area, make sure Power Mode is set to "Instant-On." Also, make sure it's set as your Home Xbox. If all of those things are set, it should download and install in the background. You should never even know it's been updated.

Call me crazy but I've been looking at an Xbox1 also. I really enjoy my PS4 but my son says all his friends have the XBOX1 so I'd atleast entertain the idea of getting one.

I was at Best Buy today, our dryer took a dump so I was looking at new dryers. I wanted to try the Xbox1 but for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to turn it on. It was on, they had 2 controllers but it's like it was stuck in demo mode. I tried pressing the Xbox button on the controllers but neither would turn on. They were wired so I figured the battery wasn't an issue. I couldn't find a soul to help me so I moved on.

IF I do get an Xbox1 I would get Madden as my son and I play the heck out of it on PS4, can one who has both comment on Madden 15 PS4 vs Xbox1?

Best of luck man! I am 100% happy with both my Xbox One and my PS4. They both had their hits and their misses, but for the exclusives and being able to play with friends (who only own one console or the other) on both consoles, it's worth it owning both.

Just a shame, now that I have a PS4 and you may get an Xbox One, that we have no new next-gen NCAA. It would have been fun playing you and some of the other guys on here. :(

With Ps4 it's easy. Just pause and hit the Share button. Then select load video clip. I use the YouTube app and link the upload to Twitter as well. It's simple. Not sure on xbox.

To save it simply say "xbox, record that" if you have the Kinect, or double tap the Xbox button (the one that illuminates) and then tap X. It'll record the last 30 seconds. If you need longer than that, snap Game DVR and then select how many minutes you want it to go back to record.

To upload, I believe you just go to Upload Studio, select the video, and then follow the instructions. I'm pretty sure you can upload directly to YT from there as well.

Ok, cool thank you sir, my Xbox 1 is downloading and installing AC Unity so I'll let it be for now.

I did have a really cool Madden 15 highlight I was wanting to upload, playing vs my son I threw a crossing route to the left flats, my X-WR blocked the DB to the ground, I hit the Y button to hurdle the DB on the ground then I truck-sticked my want into the endzone. It was called back for clipping! I was like NO WAY that was some good user stick skills!

It's one of the more unfairly reviewed games that I can think of. It's one of the best looking games this generation on either system, has really smooth combat, top notch voice acting, a smooth flowing and interesting story, and a co-op arena mode that is really fun, too. The only beef I have with the game is that the campaign is only 4 or 5 hours long. If you can get it for under $30 or so, it's definitely worth it.

7/10 at the absolute worst.

I love the idea, but I don't like putting unnecessary strain on my consoles by forcing them to stay on constantly. If only MS could work it out to where you could run the TV through passively and not have to have the console turned on to just simply watch TV from your cable box.

Hate to say it but from a structural/organizational standpoint the xbox 1 is far, far better designed than PS4. I love the pin screen and I did play around with the tv connection last night. It's a pretty cool feature IMO. The only downside thus far... downloads and installations are painfully slow! It has been tough adjusting to the 1's controller but I am getting used to it.

Last night I played AC Blackflag and Watchdogs. Both are solid games. I tried to get into AC Unity but those damn hackers... it finished the download this morning so I will have to check it out.

Santa hit one out of the park when he got me the AC xbox 1 bundle. It's great. However, I have not been able to change my gamertag back to my old one on xbox (and my current one on ps4).

Picked up Zoo tycoon for the kids last night. Fun little game but for $39.99 it is NOT worth the value IMO. Usually frontier has great games but this game hugely lacks customization. Visually speaking it is beautiful but a patch or two away from great status. I also don't like how there is a size limit for your zoo. The power of the 1... it just seems silly.

It was always a temporary price cut. This comes as no surprise whatsoever, it was ALWAYS going to go back up at some point. The holidays are nearly over, there's nothing special to keep the price down for.

I'm still not sure if I am going to get GOLD. I have the yearly PS4 memebership but as I don't really know a lot of people with the 1 I don't know if it would be worth it. I would however like to get EA Access for next year. Do you need Gold in order to get Access???

:nod: They really are two different experiences, nowhere close to apples to apples. That's why I'm happy I got both the One and the PS4. I can enjoy ALL games, exclusive or not, while still having two very different experiences on both consoles.

I'm not sure on the EA Access thing either, but I went ahead and bought the xbox live for 12 months, one nice feature that is similar to the PSN is the free games they offer. I was able to pick up Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare for free, I figure I paid $59 for xbox live for 1 year, if I'm able to get a few free games out of it, then instead of buying those games hopefully it will be an even trade-off, maybe even work in my favor.

Million dollar question: do people use ENERGY SAVINGS (45 second start up) OR do people use the default INSTANT ON (2-3 second start up). I know that outside of Europe the console is set default to instant on. I was also reading that the xbox1 was designed be be left on 24/7 for 10 years life expectancy.

It seems as though that unless you unplug your xbox it is always on, even if the xbox light is off. The energy usage difference is .5w vs 15w but the point is that it is always on.

I decided to go with the TV intetgration mixed in so right now I have it set to instant start. I have also heard a couple people say that they leave the machine on 100% and only turn off the controller and their tv. Is that okay?

I've never quite trusted the instant on after hearing horror stories last year with the launches of both consoles and people having their consoles bricked when inadvertantly unplugged or the power go out while set to instant on. I've just always kept mine in power saving mode so it fully shuts down when I turn it off.

And I especially never leave it running 24/7 for no reason. Even if it were designed that way, why put unnecessary, needless strain on it when not in use? That be like leaving my TV running nonstop 24/7 even when I'm not using it or not home or something.

So my buddy and I go to play our week 4 preseason Madden 15 CFM game last night, online...

We tried 3 times but each time about 1/2 through the 1st quarter I kept getting this message:

"Your opponent as been kicked for excessive grieving"

We both checked our internet connections and we had full bars, when I google it, it basically says to check with xbox.com/status, when I do that it says, "Social and Gaming Limited".

Anyone seen this before?

Other than this, I've been really impressed with the Xbox 1 and the Gold Live. This is the first time I've had an issue with Xbox online.

It came today in the mail and I was messing around with it, it is really neat! I was on the practice field on Madden 15, it's amazing the things you can do, motion receivers left or right, call hot routes, blocking schemes, even hike the ball.

It's also cool how it takes the place of the microphone so now when my buddy and I play online I can just talk and it will pick up my voice.

I also tried broadcasting on twitch for a few minutes, it's pretty neat I have my PC next to my XBOX 1 so I can watch the broadcast on the PC. There seems to be a slight delay, other than that it comes through really clear. My wife came in the room and wanted to know how the world was I on tv, on the PC? I told her "they" are watching us.....not sure who "they" are but it made her wonder.... :dunno:

Anyone give that gold game D4 a chance? I don't have Kinect but it's still a lot of fun. It's a bizarre murder mystery... I took a quick video of the guy's cat Amanda... a tall blonde who walks around in a swimsuit... weird. The game plus thus far is fairly enjoyable but with all the searcing and moving it would be easier with Kinect. It's done in the tradition of Telltale games except it's made by Microsoft. Check it out!

I bought the thing to help workout. I was paying $34/month for snap fitness. This kinetc is a one time fee (gamestop refurbished with gamestop points card) $98, there are plenty of FREE workouts and then there are others that you can purchase complete/multiple series workouts for $29.

I did the Tracey Anderson Transformation I yesterday, it's the free version, took 30 minutes and today I'm actually sore but not in a way that is so bad I can't move but I can feel I did workout. For $29 you can purchased the complete transformation I series, I think there are 6 or 8 workouts in the one series, so $29 seems like a decent value.

I would say in the future I can see purchasing some of the other workouts so it seems like a great deal if you compare it to going to a gym for classes and paying a monthly fee, I would say it's well worth the price.

The features that it allows me to do on Madden 15 are just really really COOL! I was motioning WRs and TEs all back and forth, calling out hot routes and audibles, it's pretty cool!

I will mainly use it for the workout features but the Madden game applications are neat too.

I would get one refurbished from gamestop.

Agreed, I bought a 3TB drive, hooked it up, Xbox 1 formatted it in about 5 seconds, then I was able to transfer all my games over in less than 1 hour. I think there are 7 games total. I haven't even put a dent in the external and now all the internal has on it is Madden 15 and the operating system.

It's very user friendly, plug in the USB and you're off and running.

I'm loving the Kinetc, I went into the settings and made it recognize me, now when I walk in the room and say Xbox On it turns the machine on, it's amazing, kinda futuristic spooky. :D

Had my first weirdness with Xbox1, was playing my CFM, week 1 preseaon. Losing 13-0 at the half it was showing the highlights, I press A to skip the highlights and the Xbox loaded Fitness, after I backed out of Fitness Madden was no longer on and I had to restart Madden. It had no record of me playing the game.

I don't mind starting over, just not sure why it did this. :dunno:

Meh, unnecessary in my opinion. I just use the extra long USB cable that came with my One and plug my controller straight into the console itself to charge it when it runs low. A simple snap of the cable to the controller and I can keep playing while I do it. I don't even have to have it plugged into my One, I can plug it into my cell phone USB outlet adaptor and charge the controller off a normal wall outlet while playing. Of course I only have one controller so I can get away with that. But it would also work with multiple controllers. Just have one plugged in via USB and use one that's unplugged.

I'm also able to use my phone charger as the plug is the same size for my phone and the controller. I think it's also same size on PS4 controller. They're finally starting to normalize in regards to using the same size plugs on phones and other items. So between my USB cord that came with my One, the one that came with my PS4 and the one that came with my phone, I can keep everything plugged in and charging no problem.

Originally I was really excited wen I heard about it but the game seems to be pretty minimal. Plus, a new roller coaster tycoon is to be released on PC this year so maybe this game is a token gesture for xbox owners?

EDIT: ok, figured it out. I logged out of Xbox live then went to settings and changed my time zone from US central to something else, then changed it back to US Central and boom the "automatically adjust for daylight savings" now shows up.

I logged back into Xbox Live and all is well. Strange how things work...

Microsoft might be killing off Media Center in Windows 10, but the company is reportedly bringing one of its key features over to the Xbox One. Microsoft currently supports TV tuners in Europe and North America on its Xbox One console, but there's only live TV pausing and not full DVR capabilities.

It's logical that Microsoft would want to add a TV DVR function. When the software company originally unveiled the Xbox One it was designed as an all-in-one entertainment and games console, with a big focus on TV features. Xbox One owners can use cable boxes with the console thanks to HDMI-in support, but it's not clear if any DVR support would capture recordings from this source. The Xbox One also has relatively small storage (500GB) for a combination of games, media, and TV recordings. Microsoft could opt to ship new Xbox One consoles with greater storage options, like the special edition 1TB version released last year, or simply support TV recordings on USB storage.

I noticed that in the last update the ONE Guide finally works now for Canadian customers. Surprised it took so long but in all honesty it's pretty underwhelming and I have already stopped using it. July's Games with Gold has been announced. MS is going 4 games every month from now on. 2 per month on Xbox One and two per month on 360.

I have two XBOX One controllers. Both have the rechargeable battery pack that can be plugged into the Energizer charging stand.

I also have an XBOX One rechargeable batter pack that can only be recharged via micro USB cable.

My question is, do I have to use the Xbox One micro USB cable and do I have to charge it at the Xbox One?

Can I use any micro usb cable and can I recharge it at my PC? If so, how do I know when it's charged? When I plug it into my PC it lights the controller up, the Xbox logo it white.

I ask b/c some things (cell phones) recommend using their factory supplied cables. I didn't want to hurt this controller.

Edit: google is my friend, looks like the answer is Yes.

It's just strange that as soon as I plugged it into my PC the light went White. From reading online, white means it's charged. When we were playing it kept telling us the battery was low and eventually the controller shut itself off.

Another ? about Xbox One.

So I have 2 sons, I've been playing Madden 15 with my 6 year old for a few months, each time we play he has to put in a password we set up. It gets annoying.

My 4 year old wanted to play so we bought an extra controller and I created a child account for him. I have him set to the exact same access, this time it wanted him to create a personal PIN. The first time he played Madden, the XBOX One said this is rated for 10+ and a parent needed to give him access to play. I said YES. Now each time he logs in and plays it just starts up.

My 6, now 7 year old has to put in his PIN every single time. How do you make it so you don't have to enter the PIN each time we fire up the Xbox One?

I'm just not understanding why for the 4 year old it works, but the 7 year old it asks me for more access stuff???

I stream on twitch on my PS4. Can I use the same credentials to stream on xbox1? I tried to sign in but it gives me a code to register. How can I have one account on two systems???

I'm not a farmer. I know nothing about farming. I don't ever plan to be a farmer... but there is something very charming about this game. I am also cognizant of the fact I have made fun of this series in previous years... I think I'm getting old. Well, that or I just really miss NCAA football...

That's pretty much my thoughts. I have sports, RPG, shooters, action, etc., games up the ass. If the price was right, why not? It'd be the perfect kick back and relax time waster, especially those times I only have an hour or something.

Now, the question we all know we're wondering, does it have multiplayer? More importantly, competitive multiplayer? :D

There is a multiplayer component on the new one, I think it's more of a co-op type of thing. Those who have lived in small towns and farms will see the pun.

Smooth and I are planting wheat out in the south-west corner while Steeler is putting his logs in the tree chipper and JB is pimping out his new green John Deere tractor. This is all going down as bdoughty is watching us on twitch tv. I don't even want to guess what Ram would be doing...
