We own the House! (Reps may even GAIN seats). Yep all those "all you say is NO" cries from the commies really came back and hurt us.

Well if this holds to form we will have:

1. Stronger Conservative House
2. Slight Dem Majority Senate
3. Lame Duck Obama

Yep going to go over the cliff and into a recession with a debt debacle. Oh well we deserve the government we vote for.

romney beginning to pull away in florida. hopefully its a good sign

From what I can tell Florida looks like it will be RAZOR thin margin for either side and could easily end in a recount. I'd need to check the counties remaining but I'm reading up and it looks like it will be VERY close in Florida but if Romney loses it is all but over.

CLW

If I am counting correctly Obama basically has 253 in the electoral college wrapped up (barring a shocker). So Romney is going to basically have to run the table (minus maybe 1 or 2 depending on the size) of the remaining swing states: Florida; Virginia; North Carolina; New Hampshire; Ohio; Colorado; Iowa.

Romney CANNOT win w/o Ohio and Florida. He loses either and he is done. VA/NC are also huge but he could lose one of those if he ran the table everywhere else.

CLW
11-06-2012, 08:55 PM
Romney now MUST win Florida; Ohio; Virginia North Carolina AND EITHER CO or IA with NH out.

It ain't lookin' good fellow right wingers. It looks like our country has slowly changed and we are unfortunately (in our opinion) slowly but SURELY becoming Europe. If you want a glimpse of our 100% certain future just look at the MESS across the pond where countries cannot even afford drugs to treat their citizens for cancer.

CLW
11-06-2012, 09:11 PM
If this holds..... we as conservatives have a number of options. My fellow right wingers at law school long feared the country was changing and that the country would move left due to "losers" wanting free stuff and the declining white majority (i.e. minorities having more kids than white people thus a demographic change). We concluded that when/if this occurred we had two options

#1 - moderate some issues to pander to minorities (immigration) or

#2 - stay a CONSERVATIVE party and "starve the beast" (government) and wait for it to implode (see Europe) and let the chips fall where they may in terms of those who choose to become dependent on government to live.

Any thoughts of what you would like to see in the future?

I have VERY strong feelings on this and IMHO #2 is a MUCH more attractive option as I would LOVE nothing more than to watch a government dependent society completely implode. It will certainly make for some good laughs when people WILL lose their food; shelter; etc.... when China stops giving us that cash $

It is what it is. This election was ALL about which "model" of turnout showed up at the polls. Unfortunately, the 2012 "America" is NOTHING like the "America" during the revival of the conservative movement.

Romney could still pull out a "miracle" but its unlikely.

I just cant wait for the day of reckoning that is INEVITABLE when this 2012 "America" implodes and the "losers" REALLY SUFFER. The "free stuff" mentality works for awhile but eventually you take away the incentive to succeed and you run out of "other people's money". Government dependcy (a.k.a. "Liberalism") has FAILED EVERYWHERE it has been tried (Cuba, Europe, USSR, etc...)

CLW
11-06-2012, 09:28 PM
Rove (a pretty straight shooter and good at # crunching) thinks Romney still has a shot but IF he pulls it off it will be RAZOR thin. Needs an "inside straight" of (FL, NC, VA, OH + IA or CO).

Looks like it will be a LONG night either way but Obama definitely has an advantage.

CLW
11-06-2012, 09:33 PM
LMAO John Boehner and Grover Norquist are 100% certain the House will NOT vote to increase any taxes. Obama 100% will not extend the current tax rates for the top bracket.

Can you say going over the cliff a 100% CERTAINTY?

America voted for it (whether they knew it or not is another issue)

"Interesting" side note from tonight is it appears that even more "blue dogs" are getting destroyed. KY lost a democrat in the house and some other blue dogs lost in NC as well. It appears that in 2012 Americans are "self selecting" where we live leading to an even more polarized government.

My wife and I CERTAINLY "self selected" getting the HELL out of Rhode Island for Texas. MD Anderson is one of if not THE best opportunities for my wife right now but she interviewed with prob 5 of the top 10 programs and we liked Texas because "the people are more like us" here than elsewhere.

In lawschool I knew liberals but now I am not "friends" with a single liberal here in Texas.

I don't see this trend changing any time soon. Liberals will want to go where they can live with other liberals and Conservatives want to go where they can live with other Conservatives.

LMAO I didn't think it was possible but my wife is even MORE pissed than I am about the way things are going. "I didn't work this hard my ENTIRE LIFE to have the [CENSORED] government tell me whether I can or cannot help treat my patients!"

She left the living room and went to read some of her research and do some work because "I cannot watch this [censored] any more!"

Unscientific survey of women's cancer physicians unhappy with Obamacare and the rationing board that will deny your wife/mother/sister proper cancer treatment because their life "isn't worth it".

florida still has the heavy republican panhandle results to come in. nc was just called for romney. virgina is very close but romney has a lead. we're losing ohio slightly more and more with each update. dont care about the other states as it doesnt matter if we dont win ohio.

I don't disagree with your conclusion that we are going to fall (i.e. we are in decline). However two points:

#1 The Liberals/Democrats are equally responsible for what you are complaining about me/conservatives doing. Conservatives just won an equal branch of government (The House)

#2 "In matters of principle, stand like a rock; in matters of taste, swim with the current." - Thomas Jefferson

"Be sure you put your feet in the right place, and then stand firm." - Abraham Lincoln

We are talking about principles (i.e. Conservatives do NOT play Class Warfare and dabble with socialism/government dependency)

Quite simply the country is divided (i.e. there are Red States and there are Blue States) and as we continue to self-select where we live (as we should do) this nation will continue its decline into irrelevancy.

I have the ability as a private citizen to support the candidates that support my values. If a member of my party violates my principles I have the power to remove them by supporting a challenger.

If a Republican in the House/Senate from a Red State thinks they have ANY room to compromise on tax/spending issues with Obama's current position, they are mistaken and will be removed the next time they are up for election.

This is the problem, why does it have to be one side or another when working on core problems within "our" country?? This is my biggest issue.

Sure I may have voted Romney or maybe I voted Obama but that isn't important because I know that our government would rather act like children who feel entitled to everything and could care less about anything that doesn't have to do with them.

B/c the "Core problems" in our country go to founding principles of Liberal/Conservative ideology. Conservatives believe in limited government and self reliance. Liberals believe people cannot do it on their own and must have government save them from themselves.

We are simply in a hyper partisan era as America goes into decline due to decisions that were made beginning 70+ years ago. It has happened in EVERY world power that went into decline. (Rome, Greece, England, etc...)

Actually it doesn't. When Obama took over he had a majority in the house and a FILLIBUSTER PROOF Senate and the Presidency. Republicans/Conservatives could have gone to the beach on vacation and it wouldn't have changed anything.

Obama got EVERYTHING he wanted in the 1st 2 years. Stimulus 1, Stimulus 2, Auto Bailout, Obamacare and the economy still blows. He played with fire and got burned in 10 and so the People decided they want a divided government.

Stocks Tumble 1% Amid 'Fiscal Cliff,' [AND] EU Fears ("triggered by worries over the looming "fiscal cliff" and as fears over Europe resurfaced.")
So... the stocks are tumbling due to Obama/American Liberal and European Socialist policies. :fp:

I can't believe people in america think like you guys do. WTF is wrong with you people? You'd rather the country go into the tank than actually work on making the country better. And you call us communists...

if it takes the country tanking to make people realize what a terrible mistake they made in re-electing this loser, then i'm all for it.

Moreover, the quicker the depression that is INEVITABLE comes the less severe it will be (it will be severe all depressions are but there are depressions and there are DEPRESSIONS) and the quicker the recovery can be.

Maybe if you had a candidate that was actually genuine and not a batshit crazy flipflopping fool, you might have had a chance against one of the least liked Democratic presidents EVER (because he's black and America is racist as fuck - think I'm lying? I know for a fact that WV didn't vote for him because he's black because we sure don't have a problem with voting for Democrat governors, mayors, and senate members).

America is a racist piece of shit and you still couldn't beat a black man. Get over yourself and actually do something to FIX this fuckin' country because, if you don't, there won't be an America soon.

the average salary for families is like $3000 lower than what it was 4 years ago, from like $53k a year to now $50k. its all but certain that it'll continue to drop. unemployment is still incredibly high. you can create millions of jobs, but if you create no incentive for people to go out and get a job, then it doesnt make a difference. ultimately, people are lazy and will always look for the easy way out. if they can continue to mooch off of others, using minimal effort, they will.

LMAO I'm not surprised you people cannot grasp the INEVITABLE depression that is coming due to the MASSIVE debt that the government and many of our people will NEVER be able to pay off.

Basically we are Greece/Europe but X years (X is an unknown variable of how long the debt crisis will come but it is going to come but it will come within everyone here's lifetime) out from where they are now.

Greece/Europe runs a "socialist"/liberal utopia where the vast majority are totally dependent on the government to live and the government has long taken money from its productive citizens and given it to the losers in the country for votes. They ran massive deficits for YEARS and now the bill is due and they cannot pay it.

Greece can no longer purchase life saving drugs for cancer treatment much less continue the entitlement state and the people are rioting in the streets when the cuts that MUST happen come.

There are 3 options with a potential debt crisis:

#1 Hyper-inflate your way out of the debt (i.e. make the $ worthless and pay the debt off with shitty $)

#2 Default on the payments and thus lose all access to credit from the market

#3 Grow the economy and let the private sector create wealth for the country and thus increase revenues for the government that can be used to pay off the debt

The Democratic party/liberals have taken #3 off of the table so option 1 and option 2 both lead to the same thing a financial collapse and a depression that will take years if not decades to get out of.

Yes stocks are likely to benefit SHORT TERM from the stupid monetary easing of the Obama administration. If you are artificially keeping the price of bonds down to below inflation people must invest in riskier investments (i.e. stocks) in order to protect their capital from losing value to inflation.

However, the debt bill will come due its ONLY a question of WHEN.

Greece has 120% debt to GDP in 2010.

The United States Government currently has a 101% debt to GDP.

Obama's OWN #s indicate the $1,000,000,000,000+ yearly deficits will continue and we will have a $20,000,000,000,000 national debt by 2016.

EVENTUALLY the market will REFUSE to lend American any more money and all the "free stuff" will go away and the economy will collapse.

I'll be honest, I've never once cheered for my friends to lose money. Your constant laughing though has me slightly wrapped tight right now and I'm going to just ignore this post.

Tommy feel free to lock this down at any point. It's clear where CLW stands and where the rest of us stand. Points have been made, some good some bad and it's clear there is no winner in a thread like this.

And this will not bleed into the Anything Thread or anything else.

Gas prices always go up and stock prices always go down after the election, it would have been the same if Romney was elected.

So you are "ignoring" the post by quoting it and posting?

I haven't checked but I'd be SHOCKED if I weren't losing 2%+ of my retirement savings today. It's funny to me b/c the ultimate result is so....... obvious to anyone who reads and thinks but most Americans are busy right now watching The Jersey Shore; Toddlers and Tiaras; Real Housewives; etc...

The vast majority will be STUNNED when this happens but if they had read/watched and learned they could have prepared themselves to absorb the blow as much as possible.
