Guys, I'm not sure what's going on but I had 2 of the greatest looking, feeling and playing games I've ever played last night in my week 4 game against C- UNLV at their place and then at home against B+ Arizona St.
Let me elaborate.
First a few general things. VARSITY IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN HEISMAN! It's smoother, the animations are better. The players play smarter and to their ratings. It just felt much closer to "It's in the game" than any other games I've played this year. All plays just worked better and like their supposed to. QBs made smarter decisions. They didn't just always immediately take off scrambling, they did still take off but it seemed more calculated and smart. Also when they did take off it wasn't always into the back of OL or into defenders, the actually ran through lanes or even towards the outside and then upfield. HBs hit holes smarter, OL held blocks realistically. You could run outside in the right situations, options worked much better with the QB making good plays there as well. Overall on offense it was light years better. The only minor complaints I have is maybe that the QBs are too accurate and the WRs didn't seem to ever drop anything but those couple things can be tweaked probably with minor changes.
Now on defense things were much better and more realistic as well. Very little if any of the psychic LBs playing the run or DBs playing the pass. All the defenders seemed to take that 1 or 2 drop steps before reacting to the play unless they were blitzing of course. And blitzing, yeah you can actually get to the QB at a realistic rate now when blitzing and don't always get burned doing it like on Heisman. I did get burned a few times at well but it's a risk/reward type play and there was some of both which is the way it should be. Even the DL and LBs were able to get at least pressure on the QB and not letting him sit back there all day long. CPU running game was very good but not ridiculously overpowered like some of the stuff we've seen. No long pass getting beat over the top type TD passes from either side. It was defended well and even got picked a few times going deep like that. Can't say enough good things about these last two games on both sides of the ball for both CPU and HUM. Now onto the games.

Week 4 @ UNLV
First let me show you the game stats, they pretty much say it all but I'll elaborate after.

As you can see great stats from my point of view. You'd think I won this game but I actually lost 24-17 and loved every second of it. My freshman QB and his two turnovers really were the difference. Other than that the game was very evenly played and simply the most fun I've had playing this game even in a loss.
I've posted a couple videos on the OD site so check those out on this game because one was a great run by my bulldozing HB where he broke a couple arm that rarely if ever happened on Heisman and the other is of the last play of the game where I almost tied it up to go to OT, see for yourself.

Week 5 vs Ariz St
Defensive battle in the pouring rain. Their QB got hurt early along with a couple other guys on offense and that contributed to the low score and me pulling the upset at home.

OK so in this game the rain was pouring and hopefully that contributed to the defensive game, that along with injuries but as you can see it was another close game in which I pulled out with a nice drive and turnover by them in the 4th qtr.
I also got my starting HB hurt and you could really tell the difference between my starter and my backup. It was nice to see.
The QBs were still more accurate than I'd like to see so that can be adjusted. Ariz St had their starting QB and I think maybe two HBs get injured so their running game suffered and they ran a lot of WR sweeps and a lot out of shotgun which didn't help them. I was blitzing quite a bit as well when those backups were in so that contributed. Several penalties this game but I'm ok with that 5-6 a game for 50-60 yards was about average last year in the real world. That has always been an issue, HUM not getting enough penalties, we're always at the top of the list for least penalties and yardage. Hopefully that'll change and be more realistic or at least average.
T.O.P almost identical as well as total plays by both teams. I LOVE SEEING THAT!
Overall this game was great fun as well.

So right now guys sliders are closer than they've ever been from my standpoint. Now if you guys are seeing something way different after a couple or few games we'll address it but no more big swings, minor tweaks here and there. The first step will be to lower the completion % of the QBs a little.

So I lost to a lower rated team and beat a higher rated team but it was all legit, felt/looked great and was so much fun. I can't wait to advance again and play my next game.

Which varsity sliders are these? I use the latest Authentic sliders posted in the OS forum and I love them. The two post that I made on the slider discussion thread were with these sliders.

Varsity with the right slider mix is the best thing to play on in my opinion. It has nothing to do with winning and losing. What it's really about is how. Last season on Heisman I won

like Eight games. My primary offense was the deep ball on third down. In fact my QB Melvin German holds the NCAA's all time QB rating for a season. Get this his QBR was a whopping 204.

Now that's crazy. The reason I was always in third and long was because we could rarely establish any consistent running game. Like you Coach Kernzy I agree with you about varsity.

When you play coach mode you have to rely on the CPU for execution and varsity seems to be the only level that provides this in coach mode.

Yep the current sliders for our OD are the Varsity Sliders from Authentic and his crew and those are the sliders I played my last two OD games with.

The game that I just played was a real grudge match. I took my FAU Owls to Louisiana to play ULL and boy was it tough. Some people say that the varsity sliders are to easy.

I think that we shouldn't be so quick to make that assessment. Think about it I just took a team that was probably better than ULL and could only score 6 pts. In my previous game I played Virginia

with the Heisman sliders. Now they are clearly better than FAU by far but they only beat me 30-27. But I could only muster up 6 pts against ULL with a varsity set of sliders. So I guess the point

that I'm trying to make is sometimes you are going to play well against superior teams regardless of the skill level Heisman, Varsity, or AA. What we see happening is a variety in out comes this adds

excitement. If you knew that every team that was better than you was going to beat you that wouldn't be very interesting. So when you pull off the upset it's not because your slider set was to easy.

Last season with Heisman sliders I beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Now was Heisman to easy? Of course not, because in that same season I suffered losses to MTSU, ULL, and Western Kentucky. Do you see where I am going

with this? The variety in results is a good thing. The most important thing is how you arrived at a win or loss. If you beat a bad team with trashy unrealistic game play that's not good but losing to a better team

because of terrible game play and computer execution is probably worse. Dynasty mode plays like a Role Playing Game (RPG). Things happen story lines are made teams get better and worse. You can't look at a

CPU controlled team like it's real life counter part because whats happening in the dynasty is different. The next time you beat a team you feel like you should have lost too follow them throughout the years in

our dynasty. Look for coaching changes, player production trends and win loss records because all of this will factor into how they play against you. Example let's follow Virginia my guess is that they are not going to be very good.

If they are good don't stop with them just watch how it all plays out. Remember in dynasty mode regardless of skill level the balance of power is constantly changing. I may be wrong but I honestly feel this is how dynasty

mode plays. So don't judge the sliders on how much you win or lose but rather how you win are lose. Here's the main stats from that grudge match that I mention before. Owl's lead the way! All the way!!!
