Guys, I'm not sure what's going on but I had 2 of the greatest looking, feeling and playing games I've ever played last night in my week 4 game against C- UNLV at their place and then at home against B+ Arizona St.
Let me elaborate.
First a few general things. VARSITY IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN HEISMAN! It's smoother, the animations are better. The players play smarter and to their ratings. It just felt much closer to "It's in the game" than any other games I've played this year. All plays just worked better and like their supposed to. QBs made smarter decisions. They didn't just always immediately take off scrambling, they did still take off but it seemed more calculated and smart. Also when they did take off it wasn't always into the back of OL or into defenders, the actually ran through lanes or even towards the outside and then upfield. HBs hit holes smarter, OL held blocks realistically. You could run outside in the right situations, options worked much better with the QB making good plays there as well. Overall on offense it was light years better. The only minor complaints I have is maybe that the QBs are too accurate and the WRs didn't seem to ever drop anything but those couple things can be tweaked probably with minor changes.
Now on defense things were much better and more realistic as well. Very little if any of the psychic LBs playing the run or DBs playing the pass. All the defenders seemed to take that 1 or 2 drop steps before reacting to the play unless they were blitzing of course. And blitzing, yeah you can actually get to the QB at a realistic rate now when blitzing and don't always get burned doing it like on Heisman. I did get burned a few times at well but it's a risk/reward type play and there was some of both which is the way it should be. Even the DL and LBs were able to get at least pressure on the QB and not letting him sit back there all day long. CPU running game was very good but not ridiculously overpowered like some of the stuff we've seen. No long pass getting beat over the top type TD passes from either side. It was defended well and even got picked a few times going deep like that. Can't say enough good things about these last two games on both sides of the ball for both CPU and HUM. Now onto the games.

As you can see great stats from my point of view. You'd think I won this game but I actually lost 24-17 and loved every second of it. My freshman QB and his two turnovers really were the difference. Other than that the game was very evenly played and simply the most fun I've had playing this game even in a loss.
I've posted a couple videos on the OD site so check those out on this game because one was a great run by my bulldozing HB where he broke a couple arm that rarely if ever happened on Heisman and the other is of the last play of the game where I almost tied it up to go to OT, see for yourself.
Week 5 vs Ariz St
Defensive battle in the pouring rain. Their QB got hurt early along with a couple other guys on offense and that contributed to the low score and me pulling the upset at home.

OK so in this game the rain was pouring and hopefully that contributed to the defensive game, that along with injuries but as you can see it was another close game in which I pulled out with a nice drive and turnover by them in the 4th qtr.
I also got my starting HB hurt and you could really tell the difference between my starter and my backup. It was nice to see.
The QBs were still more accurate than I'd like to see so that can be adjusted. Ariz St had their starting QB and I think maybe two HBs get injured so their running game suffered and they ran a lot of WR sweeps and a lot out of shotgun which didn't help them. I was blitzing quite a bit as well when those backups were in so that contributed. Several penalties this game but I'm ok with that 5-6 a game for 50-60 yards was about average last year in the real world. That has always been an issue, HUM not getting enough penalties, we're always at the top of the list for least penalties and yardage. Hopefully that'll change and be more realistic or at least average.
T.O.P almost identical as well as total plays by both teams. I LOVE SEEING THAT!
Overall this game was great fun as well.
So right now guys sliders are closer than they've ever been from my standpoint. Now if you guys are seeing something way different after a couple or few games we'll address it but no more big swings, minor tweaks here and there. The first step will be to lower the completion % of the QBs a little.
So I lost to a lower rated team and beat a higher rated team but it was all legit, felt/looked great and was so much fun. I can't wait to advance again and play my next game.
