View Full Version : Features - Second Rd: Practice Mode 2.0 vs. Online Roster Editor
As always, vote for the item you prefer. However, also state how you would like both features implemented into the game and indicate any specific elements you would (or would not) like to see added for each item.
Practice Mode 2.0
Practice Mode is an area where many NCAA Football gamers devote hours of time learning their team, finding the perfect playbook, and preparing for their next Dynasty game. While the dev team has added the ability to pick a random play from a certain formation and an indoor facility to the mode in recent years, the community has been clamoring for more. Among the features mentioned: full-fledged Scrimmage Mode (offense runs series against defense - or vice versa - with full rules in place), ability to set Situation), on-screen indication of play result (as on last gen indicating catch in-bounds, touchdown, etc.), ability to use TeamBuilder squads, option to change playbook at any time in the mode, ability to change “opponent’s” playbook (to gameplan against upcoming opponent), drills (Option, Oklahoma Drill, DB Drills, etc.), ability to select random play from ALL formations, passing skeleton, etc. An improved and in-depth Practice Mode would be an excellent way for both casual and hardcore players to work on and hone their skills.

Online Roster Editor
With fans always debating the merits of the NCAA Football rosters out of the box, the community has asked for an online roster editing program. The program could either be a PC-based downloadable program or one on easports.com that would export the created file into a user’s EA Locker for download & sharing. The program would start with the base file from the game and allow users to edit everything that they can in-game – name, ht/wt, year, equipment, team, coaches, appearances, etc. plus team captains and Impact Players. Ideally, it would be released as soon as the game went into certification to help have files ready to go upon release.

Dont really care about either. I dont really use Practice, if they adds drills, then definitely. I chose Practice because I dont use Online AT ALL besides rosters, turners and patches.

REALLY disappointed that Teambuilder 2.0 lost already. It's super fun to make new teams and create things for them and being able to customize those things that much more is a huge draw for me.
Anyway, for this one, had to go with Practice Mode 2.0. The fact that I can do custom playbooks is that much more of a reason to have Practice Mode 2.0. I want additional options with Practice Mode.
Mainly, I want to be able to randomize an entire formation (3-4, 4-3, etc) without being able to only randomize a certain set out of that formation (3-4 Predator, 4-3 Over, etc). Same goes for the offensive side of the ball. I should be able to randomize entire formations instead of certain sets out of that formation.
I want to be able to make quick sub changes so that I can run a play with a certain player and then compare it to running the exact some play with a different player at any position to see how they handle that play differently. That way, I can see a true difference in my RB with 95 speed/acceleration running a sweep play and seeing my RB with 90 speed/acceleration running a sweep play and have a tangible sampling size to see the differences without having to go through all the hassle of changing things. On the fly subs ARE A MUST.

Practice Mode 2.0
I won't dispute the importance of an Online Roster Editor--and I voted for it last round--but there's no way something which, in the end, is a mere convenience will get my vote over something like Practice Mode 2.0.
As I stated last round in my vote for Practice Mode 2.0, the current setup for practice is essentially useless because there's no true way to set up situations or scenarios to practice as a real-life football team would. I know that I can move the spot of the ball around on the practice field, set it up on the left hash or right hash if I really want to, and then run whatever play I want. That's not enough for me.
If I'm in a Dynasty and I notice that I'm having trouble running a 2-minute drill with my offense, then I want to be able to go into practice mode and set the clock to 2:00, set my number of timeouts available, and put the ball on my 20-yard-line with the goal of putting points on the board before the clock runs out. If I want to start planning for 2nd-and-Long situations because I don't want to feel like my gameplan is out the window if I take a loss on 1st Down, then I want to be able to set my down-and-distance in the practice and experiment with play calls until I find something which makes me feel comfortable about my chances of either gaining a new set of downs or making a manageable 3rd Down.
I'll gladly weather the storm of complaints about "how long it takes to make rosters" after the game comes out if it means I can do those things in Practice Mode.

Basically, if you want rosters quickly after release....Online Roster Editor is the way to go, especially if they release it a couple weeks before the game comes out.
Don't care for either of these options. I do not believe EA would EVER actually risk further litigation with an online roster editor so I went with practice mode as it actually has a chance of making the game.

Practice Mode... I don't work on the rosters so I don't care how much effort it requires

I dunno if you really should vote based on "thinking" it cannot be done. You should vote based on what you would like to see.

I guess we know who to keep from knowing where the rosters are when they come out next year ;) :D

Practice Mode....just because I would use it a lot more personally.

Very well. I am not a roster editor and therefore would NEVER use online roster editor. I appreciate the effort roster editors have to put in to make a good set of rosters. However, I KNOW they will continue to do so with or without something that makes it easier for them to do their "work".
As such, I'll take a Practice Mode I will likely NEVER use over a roster editor I KNOW I will NEVER USE nor NEVER need to use thanks to the hard work of those wonderful roster editors out there in the community.

I went with practice mode here, just has more upside potential then Online Roster Editor.
I'll get way more use out of Practice mode improvements then Online Roster Editor.

Practice mode, you know how great that would be in OD at the beginning of the year. And can the formation packages work too?!?!

Shocked to see that practise mode is winning. Look at how many people were up in arms over how long it would take people to finish rosters. Here we have a solution yet people are voting for practise (insert Allen Iversen quote here).

Yep, because all those people whining about rosters back in July were either people who had been banned from OS and came here for the Gator/Buckeye rosters, or random people coming here solely to ask questions and create a new thread every 20 minutes asking who had rosters up and complete, and haven't been back since they finally got their rosters.
