View Full Version : Features - First Rd: DLC Team Updates vs. In-Game Saves
As always, vote for the item you prefer. However, also state how you would like both features implemented into the game and indicate any specific elements you would (or would not) like to see added for each item.
DLC Team Updates
There are two universal truths when it comes to sports gamers. 1) They want a fun and enjoyable game and 2) They want their team accurately portrayed in terms of details. Despite their best efforts in attempting to stay up-to-date, this is a significant challenge for the NCAA Football dev team with 120 FBS programs and more coming in future years.
In order to help keep the game fresh and up-to-date, possible items include:
Downloadable updates for field art, uniforms, future schedules, team recruit pitch ratings
Updated (manual or dynamic) Top 25 rankings
User ability to import/share created field art and uniforms
Run/Pass ratios
Coach Tendency/Aggressiveness settings
In-Game Saves
Many in the NCAA Football community like to use longer quarter length to help replicate realistic game statistics, however that often makes playing time a commodity in order to play in one sitting. In-game saves would allow them to resume the match-up at a later date. Technically this may not be easy to implement due to the size of the save file that would be created, housing game info, highlights, stats, etc.

I have to go with Team Updates. I would like In-Game Saves, only if I dont have to worry about freezes
I like the updates in NCAA Basketball

dlc.
you can add run/pass ratios to the list....maybe even the ability to tune the cpu playcalling in which formations a team uses most often? there's a lot of dlc ideas out there that could add a lot to the game.

Anyone with kids and a family will tell you that IN GAME SAVES is desperately needed. It won't win but this would be huge for all the people with young children.

In-Game Saves
This should have been something we had in NCAA 07.

So true. Squeezing in a half hour and then saving would be great. Never know when duty calls as a parent sometimes or when you are too tired to keep playing. No excuse for EA not to have in game saves. EA had them for Madden on the PS2 and now for Madden on the PS3. Both baseball games have had in game saves for at least two if not three years.

NBA 2K has them as well.

In game saves are super important. You could play a half and then pick it bac up when you have time.
In game saves. In no way would I support having DLC as a feature as it would be just too tempting for EA to start trying to nickle and dime us for these things.

In game saves.......wives have a bad habit of needing something from the store as soon as a guy starts playing a sports game.

I have never had the need for an in-game save. I would love to see some DLC for team updates to keep things fresh.

This item is for DLC not Premium DLC. It's based upon the updates NCAA Basketball 10 had which were free and included new plays along with updated Top 25 rankings.

DLC Team Updates
Provided that the DLC would be free and not Premium--as stated by cdj in this thread--then this is a no-brainer for me. I understand the people who want in-game saves, and I'll agree that it's silly not to have such a relatively simple feature available. But even as someone whose gaming time is limited by married life, I would rather have DLC Team Updates.
Just look at the teams who have uniform sets which are completely missing in the game this year; Oklahoma State, Maryland, Michigan, Notre Dame, TCU, and a good number more. People who are fans of schools like these are stuck using uniforms which--in some cases--are not used anymore in real life. That's a shame.
Being able to update team rankings would take care of a small issue that bugs me a lot when I play the game too.

I just think that Free DLC will only be used to quielty bring in paid DLC over the years. That's a slippery slope I am not willing to traverse.
Both would be nice, but I voted for DLC Team Updates.
Currently, the game is out of date in a lot of areas as soon as the season starts, if not earlier. Adding in new uniforms & field art and updated Top 25 rankings would help the game keep up with real-life and advanced features such as adding new plays would be a great feature as well.
Honestly, IMHO the thought of this turning into PDLC doesn't seem like a legitimate risk. Worst-case scenario, I'd see this tied into Online Pass. Best scenario, it downloads the new material behind the scenes and adds it in like NBA 2K12.
