RDR wasn't much better. People were just some overwhelmed by the excellent job they did with the atmosphere of making it a western, they forgot to pay attention to how completely shitty the missions were. That game was boring as hell, just like LA Noire. Of course, I don't much care for these type of games anyway. Me playing GTA usually revolves around putting in the all-weapons cheat and creating mass hysteria for a few minutes and then getting bored of it, again.

Sweet. I liked experiencing the story line and the different angles of the various major events that took place in GTA IV from the side of Nico, Johnny and Luis, and how they unknowingly were in involved in many of the various parts of the plot and seemed to be in the same place and same time on a lot of things, for different reasons/sides. So that'll be cool in GTA V, getting to continue to see different sides and angles of the story that you don't get to see with just one character.

Rockstar and Naughty Dog make possibly the best trailers out of all games IMO. I wasn't hooked on GTA IV... just didn't grab me like previous games (maybe because the concept is going stale), but I'll definitely keep track of V and likely purchase around launch.

During this afternoon's investor call, CEO Strauss Zelnick reiterated a point from earlier in the call that there are "titles yet to be announced for fiscal 2013." This is significant because the company expects revenues of $1.75 - $1.85 billion for the fiscal year ending next March. Look back at that blockbuster Red Dead Redemption year, and note that revenues reached $1.14 billion. So, what's the deal? [Overall, the publisher had a net loss of $108.8 million for the year, compared to the $48 million profit in the previous year.]

Officially, at this time, Take-Two plans to launch Borderlands 2 in September, NBA 2K13 and XCOM: Enemy Unknown in October and, finally, BioShock: Infinite in February. Although any one of those could be a runaway hit, there's still $600-$700 million missing over that impressive Red Dead year to hit the projection. Either Grand Theft Auto 5 is secretly on the docket for this year or Take-Two is expecting blockbusters from more than one of the announced games.

A Twitter account for something called the "Epsilon Program" (http://twitter.com/EpsilonismToday) has materialized in the past few days, linking off to a freaky (and annoying) website for a pseudo-religion called "KIFFLOM" (http://www.epsilonprogram.com/), registered by Take Two Software.

The site features a thinly-veiled parody of the real-life Scientology organization and includes such hilarious "facts" as: "If you have a birth mark, you may be descended from Kraff, the famous Emperor of the 4th Paradigm." Considering that the next iteration of GTA is set in a faux Los Angeles and that the Epsilon Program was featured in a gags found within GTA: San Andreas, odds are good that we're looking at an early viral campaign for Grand Theft Auto 5. Good timing, since only yesterday investors were asking why the hype train for GTA 5 had not yet left the station.

What does it tell us about the game? Nothing at all. But investors were wondering where the marketing was, and Take Two appears to have answered right away.

Yes! About time we get fucking planes back! I loved stealing the jumbo jets or the military aircraft in San Andreas and flying them high as shit in the sky. GTA 4 sucked in that regard as the only thing we had were the helicopters. Pissed me off that they didn't put any flyable jets in the game.

Even if almost all of the images are from the first trailer, that cover still looks pretty good. Gives you a good picture of various locations, vehicles and stuff in the game. Since you mentioned almost all pictures are from the first trailer, like you, I doubt that will be the official cover, but if it was, I wouldn't have a problem with that cover.

Grand Theft Auto 5's trio inspired by GTA 4 DLC storyline crossover

"It was partly just to do something totally new," Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser told the Guardian about the use of three separate protagonists in Grand Theft Auto 5. "Partly, too, it was because at that point we were deep into the work on the two DLC episodes of GTA IV, and we thought, well, the bits where all the stories cross over is kind of cool, so why don't we just do that in one game? So okay, let's just do multiple characters."

The storyline of the game – and remember, GTA games have storylines when you're not just trying to jump motorcycles over buildings or create impressive piles of exploded fire trucks – follows a series of five to six "mega-heists" (the Guardian's term), and three characters who are all involved with the jobs, and with each other.

In fact, the protagonists spend more time hanging out together than with other NPCs, Houser said. "If you're playing as Michael and you want to play a game of tennis, you can call up Franklin and ask him. You are actually getting to see the main bulk of the story and also spend time with these people off-mission – that side of it gives it a vibrancy that's a lot stronger than with [Grand Theft Auto 4's] Roman or anyone else."

Sweet! Some sort of submersible, fighter jets, a commercial plane, hell yes. Hopefully both the fighter jet (you'd probably have to break into a military instillation) and the commercial planes are flyable by your character. I loved to go steal the jumbo jet in San Andreas, fly up to the highest possible altitude in it and jump out and do some sky diving, watching the plane crash to the ground beneath me. It upset me to have the airport and all those planes in GTA IV and you couldn't fly a single fucking one. All you could fly were the helicopters.

That was the beautiful thing with San Andreas, you could free fall from thousands of feet up in the air, and still live when you hit the water in the rivers. :D There were times though that I would say "aw fuck it" and let my guy go splat on the freeway or something.

yeah its interesting. the general thought is 720/ps4 come out late 2013 but some feel it won't be to 2014. if that is right rockstar pushing the game back might help them with sales b/c almost all of the "big" releases are early this year.

another interesting thought is perhaps they are prepping the game for a 720/ps4 launch release?

or (most likely) they think they need more time to live up to their own expectations and that of the consumers.

Well, it will still take a little time to get a load of games to come out for the PS4. I think my PS3 will be hooked up for a good year just to catch up the backlog. I'm not going to get every single PS4 game right away. And if the trophies are combined like I think they're going to be. I'll still have good use of the PS3 :nod:

I am getting really excited about thus game. I love rockstar games(RDR was my favorite) I just hope that the maps are just as big and that the multiplayer has an "open range" if you will like RDR. I also loved the co-op missions so I hope they incorporate that into the game as well.

Grand Theft Auto 5 developer Rockstar Games hadn't said anything about Grand Theft Auto Online until now, except for providing a brief clip of multiplayer footage at the end of the game's most recent trailer, but the company revealed the first details about Grand Theft Auto Online with a new trailer today.

Grand Theft Auto Online will be available on Oct. 1, a couple of weeks after Grand Theft Auto 5 comes out, and access to it will be free to owners of the game. According to Rockstar, it is a persistent online world that will "continue to expand and evolve after its launch." Rockstar will update GTA Online with its own content, but it will also allow for user-created content such as races and deathmatches that players can share with others. The mode will support as many as 16 players.

Players will have the ability to customize their character, as in the online component of Red Dead Redemption, and rank up by doing things like buying customized cars, purchasing property and going on missions by themselves or with friends. And as in Red Dead Redemption, users will also be able to partake in unstructured play, messing around in the open world of Los Santos. That world supports the same variety of experiences that the Grand Theft Auto 5 campaign does, whether by land, air or sea.

I actually had a lot of fun in GTA IV. The storyline sort of sucked, but I still enjoyed playing it throughout the past year and even had it in for a couple of hours the other day. I think V will be just fine. Even if the storyline still isn't up to par, the amount of stuff you'll be able to do in the game will more than pay for itself for me. I'll definitely have no problems putting thousands of hours into this game over the next couple years.

I don't understand people's fascination with playing completely HORRIBLE people in a video game. How is that enjoyable? These people are absolute SCUM. Nope. Just got my confirmation e-mail. I've NEVER not gotten a brand new release I wanted so long as I make sure I have at least one spot open and no other available titles in my queue.

Woo! GTA V time! UPS dropped off GTA V and my new controller at 1:24. Finally got to sit down and open the package around 1:40. Just finished installing disc 1 and starting up the prologue right now. :D

Fuck! I managed to elude the cops inside the airport and steal a private jet, only for a police chopper to shoot and damage the engines while I was trying to take off. Managed to get up in the air and gain altitude, but my left engine started smoking, grew into heavy smoke and eventually flamed out. My right engine started smoking around the same time the left engine died. Ultimately had to bring it down low and slow and ditch in the ocean before it crashed. But it was as fun as it was back in GTA: San Andreas. :D

Anybody know if you can hijack the freight trains in the countryside? It'd suck if they went to the trouble of making and putting freight trains in the game, only to not let you hijack and drive them. Granted, they made it impossible to fly planes in GTA IV (after you were able to in San Andreas). I'm very happy to finally get my flyable planes and jets back, but just wish trains were on the drive-able list too.

I do love they added an in car "high camera" in the options that raises the view a bit so you can see what is up ahead. I like the close in camera but before they added this it ade it tough to see what was coming ahead.

The intro mission is well done and the only real gripe I have is the aiming reticle is so freaking small you have to sit up next to the TV to see it. Not a problem with auto-aim which I plan to use but will be a PITA for free aim. Did not check to see if there was a way to enlarge it.

I seem to remember you could do something in GTA IV to make it larger? On the humorous side they must have pulled some of the rag doll physics from Madden. Running and jumping is a very dangerous proposition for your character. Heck just climbing or even walking over a step has proven to be a challenge in every Rockstar game.

I've gotten, according to my save file, about 18% of the way into the game. Currently in the middle of setting up my first heist, gonna be fun. :)

I'm loving the game, but yeah, there are some issues with it. The cops are definitely much harder to lose. I had to lose the cops after one mission, you automatically receive 3 stars during it. It took me over 10 minutes real time to finally evade them. Even when I'd pull away and break line of sight, it would only be a matter of moments before here would come a cop down the random road I'm flying down at 100 MPH to get away from the cops behind me. And thus, the chase would start all over again.

That also brings up the issue that, as is usual in the GTA series, the driving and handling of vehicles sucks. I try to make a 45 or 90 degree turn, my car ends up doing a 180 or something. When trying to flee cops, talk about aggravating. Also, is it just me, or are all the other cars in the game a bunch of brick walls? In GTA IV, if I came plowing down the road at top speed, I could at least plow through the cars in front of me and keep going (at reduced speed and a very damaged car, but I could keep going), but in GTA V, I hit a car at top speed and I come crashing to a near complete stop and the car I run into barely even moves.

So far those are the big issues I've had with the game. Otherwise, I love it so far and am going to spending the entirety of my gaming time for at least the next days/week playing nothing but GTA V.

Yeah, I'm having that issue. I've been involved in a couple of vehicle chase shootouts thus far, and it is damn near impossible to accurately aim and kill those bastards while speeding through roads and alleys.

And agreed on the phone. Last night before I shut down for the night, I laid back on the couch to relax while doing some stuff in the game, I couldn't even make out what the hell a text message on my phone was saying. Had to sit up and lean towards the TV to make out what the hell was showing on the phone.

And yeah, the physics are laughable at times. Tried to jump over a wall while running after someone, jumping into the wall and fell to the ground in such an odd angle, your leg would be fucked up for life.

I was able to take a little time off missions to branch out to activities. Got a round of golf in (started with a birdie but went downhill form there to end +4), did some street racing, whooped ass in tennis, went with Michael (playing as Franklin) to a strip club. Stole a boat and went out into the ocean (way out). I dove into the water, but couldn't see shit as the seafloor was deep as hell. I need to find me some scuba gear and go back out sometime, see just how deep that seafloor actually is.

Wooo! Just completed my first heist. What a fucking rush that was! Anyone know how often we can do heists in this game? Are we able to do them at will or only as part of the story? That was easy fucking money! It was a little bit of a bitch getting all the stuff necessary to set up the heist, but the heist itself was cake!

A word of wisdom for those still earlier in the game than me, when you get the option for your first heist, go with the smart (quiet) route and don't be stingy with who you hire and their cuts. The better hires (even though they receive higher cuts) will greatly pay off and you'll make more than you would with lower quality hires and/or going the loud method busting through the front door.

I would say that it's as good as RDR. Probably better, it has been a while since I played Red Dead. Basically, all the good things that was in RDR + all the good things in GTA 4 x stuff that wasn't even in both games = GTA 5. I love it, plus with the addition of the online portion in 2 weeks I'll be playing this til PS4, and then splitting time with it. I love it.
