Yeah I will stay around the forums. I'm in the IT field so I do nothing but surf the web and stay on the forums ALL day. My forum activity goes down when I get home though understandly because I don't want to see another computer when I get home from work lol.

Its just been a rough 2 weeks, lack of sleep isn't helping at all after being up all night every night. Once I missed the game Tex and I had scheduled, I knew this could happen again and if anyone knows I absolutely hate missing games/standing people up or having my games simmed. Doesn't help that I am in 4 Madden leagues either which I have to drop out all but one of those likely.

My gaming will now revolve around playing the CPU in many games which I despise but I need to spend every chance I get with my wife and son.

I'll definitely stay around to check to see if Jeff is still bribing LB's from other schools lol.

I'm going to finish the season strong though

Why's everyone being so quiet lately? More to the point ... what would you guys like to do to get more chatter going on here? A smack talking thread?

With my user-user games done and the season wrapping up, here's a way too early Oklahoma 2012 starting lineup:

QB - Jones*, Bell/Allen
RB - Calhoun, Clay/Finch, Recruit?
FB - Musil
WR - Reynolds, Stills, Richardson? (FR), Muse, Huffman, McClain, Millard (WR/TE)
TE - Millard, Parsons/Haywood, Wallace
LT - D. Williams (RT), Recruit?/Kearney (rFR), Noel?
LG - Irwin, Recruit?
C - Habern, Ikard
RG - Evans, Thompson, Slaughter?
RT - Aladenoye, Recruit?

LE - Grissom/Recruit/Washington, Slaughter
RE - Chaisson, Washington, Favors
DT - McFarland, McGee, Walker, Humphrey, Peterson
LOLB - R. Lewis, Lee
MLB - Wort, Franklin, Jefferson
ROLB - Bird, Nelson (CB?)
CB - Hurst, Lynn, Richardson? (FR), Harris
FS - Trice, Hayes (CB?)
SS - Ibiloye, Jefferson, Lumpkin (LB?)
K - O'Hara
P - Way

Offense: If Jones goes, we'll have a gaping hole on the offense, Jones could be a 99 OVR next year if he returns and would be a great leader with a majorly inexperienced group of recievers. Reynolds, Stills, Millard and Erik Richardson, who could play both ways, look to be our four guys catching it next year. Brett Muse could be an interesting one, too. On the line, we'll have to replace three starters.

Defense: New starters at defensive ends, I love how quick Chaisson is, along with Slaughter. Slaughter needs to improve alot though. Slaughter could have high 90's ACC for a defensive lineman. Insane. We lose Travis Lewis, who's been a leader on D. Wort could see his OVR hit 99 as a redshirt junior. Our secondary should be improved but who will be our second CB? Who knows.

Special Teams: We'll have to find someone to replace Dejuan Miller as #2 KR, and I'd expect that to be someone like Brett Muse, otherwise, an improvement all around.

I am going to chalk it up to the usual lull once football season and school starts up. However, that is a good idea what would it take to get a bit more participation?

I really hope Whaley returns next year....at 250....he will finally have over 90 trucking and break tackle....combined with 91 speed and improved acceleration....he will be a beast....especially with Earl Campbell, Jr. backing him up. Whaley was healthy this year (and with Clay out....likely will lead the country in rushing TDs) so he'll probably take his numbers and leave as Earl "should" come in rated pretty high with his elite athleticism.

Oneback
09-25-2010, 09:53 AM
Nick Cleveland would like to challange that leading the country claim...as a true freshmen he has run for 1,136 yards and 17 touchdowns on 176 attempts so far...two games to go.

JeffHCross
09-25-2010, 10:13 AM
Erm, Oneback ... he's up 9 TDs on you right now (Whaley has 26, and I'm not sure if that includes the 5 he got today). And I'm not giving up that many to you today.

Unless we go into OT again, lol.

Pepe Pearson also got 5 today, lol. Obviously he has no hope of catching you, Papa, since I have no more games. But 25 in a season in which I played a more-than-steady dose of backups makes me pretty happy. I'm just hoping he doesn't jump to the NFL.

An offensive line that cannot block in the running game and a true soph QB that was starting his 4th game of his career, add in a defense that looked good early but then lost steam as the game went on due to consistantly being on the field and just got ran over in the second half.

Its not a good combination when you have a young quarterback with no running game and a play caller that is notoriously conservative.

I don't know if anyone just saw that return by Rodgers for Oregon State but, wowSaw it. Earlier today I commented to my dad that Terrelle Pryor's touchdown run (watch any highlight show and it'll be in there) was something I couldn't do, even in a video game. Rogers punt return was the same.

i love las vegas sands, if it was a women i would buy it 4 dozen roses and a diamond ring.

Im not looking forward to recruiting next year, i need to get a texas type hunk of good luck with top prospects to fill some critical positions of need and im not sure the game will give it to me ;)

looking over everyones rosters, i think michigan will make the biggest move as they have a super young team that will see some size-able jumps in off season progression and the only key loss seems to be at RB.

Miami is going to take a big hit at QB and WR, losing 4 of the top 5 WRs will hurt and i dont like any of the QBs on the roster at all, but im sure Tex will make the necessary playbook adjustments to be competitive.

FSU loses its top 3 Linebackers and top 3 WRs which will be their biggest losses, as the WRs behind them are unproven and have ratings gimpyness from weird EA initial ratings. The LBs will be the biggest loss though, they have mostly masked an average DL with their excellent play.

USC and Texas probably have the best initial rosters in our OD, so trouble is not there yet and with good recruiting we might not see a drop off, Im wondering if Connor Wood transfers from texas though with the logjam of talent at the QB position.

Clemson's offense should get better with great QB depth and WRs progressing, but the RBs are starting to get pretty thin and the OL only has another year in them before it starts to get dicey. The defense is also starting to thin out and will need some help at CB and DT imo.

wiscy and tsou sort of look the same to me right now, i would kill to have wiscy's OL who all seem to be badass So(rs) lol. Skill positions look ragged but great coaching will put them in position to win.

Have not looked at Oregon or Vatech since coaching flux is still in the air.

psuexv
09-27-2010, 02:37 PM
Next year ought to be interesting for USC. Offensively we should be fairly dominated with Barkley hopefully returning and a stable of WRs and young RBs behind a good Oline. The defense is going to be iffy with possibly replacing the entire Dline if Armstead leaves early and replacing starting MLB, FS and SS. The young guys I brought in this class are going to have to step up early.

LOL, just messing.

But I was just looking and OUCH. I knew how many and what positions but really looking at it like this has me really concerned.

I'm losing top HB, FB, WR

Losing 3 of 5 Starting Offensive Lineman

Losing all 4 Starting Defensive Lineman

Losing 2 of 3 Starting LB'rs

Losing 2 CB's (1 starter, one Dime)

Losing both Starting Safeties

Losing Punter.

Penn State, needs this year for a run because next year is going to be brutal. OUCH.

My biggest concerns right now are FB where I have no one, TE where I will hopefully have one, and defensive tackle. I don't know why but thus far I have found it extrmely hard to recruit FB's and TE's. I've got 2 nose tackles right now and if things go right in the off season I may have one DT.

Tate Forcier will likely return and be 90+ ovr however there are rumors coming out of Ann Arbor that Forcier has fallen out of favor with the coaching staff and they may turn to Devin Gardner next year. At HB Michael Cox who rushed for 1800 yards last year should return from his injury this year and true freshmen Nate Cleveland who will rush for 1200+ yards this year should see the bulk of the carries next season. Speedsters Vincent Smith and Fitzgerald Tousaint should again handle kick return duties and see some action on offense. At fullback there are two walk on's from last year and nothing in the pipeline thus far to take over.

Wide receiver will be interesting as Roy Roundtree should return, Darryl Stonum will return from medical redshirt, Ronnie Lewis who is redshirting this season should make a big splash next season as well. Behind them will be JeRon Stokes and two incoming freshmen.

At tightend there is Brandon Moore who better come back because there is no one else. Rocko Khoury who is playing LG this season may slide outside to be a blocking TE but unless the recruiting tables turn this position is looking mighty thin.

Along the offensive line some alignment of RS Jr Patrick Omameh (LT may move to RG), FR Logan Cooper (LT), RS Jr Ricky Barnum (LG), RS So Quinton Washington (RG), RS So Taylor Lewan (RT), FR Bill Sykes (C), Rec Greg Buchanan (OG) will see most of the playing time.

Defensive end is going to be interesting as I am losing the perfect strongside DE in Ryan Van Bergen. If Craig Roh decides to come back for his senior season which I have every reason to believe he will, he will move from the weakside to the strong side where he is a better fit although not a perfect fit. On the weakside we will have pass rushing specialists Darren Jennings a JUCO transfer from last year, RS Fr Ken Wilkins who depending on the offseason could win the job and incoming freshman (ESPN 150) Chris Haynes will likely see most of his action in passing situations.

At nose tackle RS So William Campbell will man the middle, at 6'5'' 330+ pounds he is a perfect fit, incoming recruit Brandon Coe (4-star) will back him up and play some at 3-tech if no one currently on the roster can grab hold of the position.

Speaking of the 3-tech RS Fr Richard Ash is the only one capable and he shows the athletic ability to play the position but the coaches are worried about his strength. With a solid offseason in the weight room he could take the reigns.

Linebacker was a position of weakness this season with only two players capable of holding up against the bruising nature of the Big 10, only problem is that one of them is graduating and the other is really best suited for special teams play. The coaching staff however did a great job of addressing this need by bringing in two ESPN Top 150 recruits in #1 OLB William Logan who will likely move to MLB and #2 OLB Ricky Woods who will play on the strong side. Brett Nash joined the group and will move from MLB where he played in high school to weakside linebacker where he can really use his athletic ability, Nash will back up last years top linebacking recruit Jarred Roberts.

RS Jr Kenny Demens will backup William Logan at MLB and will see most of his playing time on special teams. He'll only see time on defense in mop up duty or if Logan struggles. If Woods were to be injured Logan would move to the strongside and Demens would then step in at MLB as well.

Junior Brandin Hawthorne will play the money position in the nickle unless RS Jr safety Jordan Kovacs is able to take the position away, if so Hawthorne will only see time on special teams.

At cornerback the same cast returns in RS Jr JT Floyd, RS So JT Turner, RS Fr Demar Dorsey and RS Fr Cullen Christian, they will be a year older and the coaching staff expects them to hold down the secondary all of whom have done a good job this year. Freshman Eddie Long shows good athletic ability but needs to work on his coverage skills.

At Safety Junior Vladimir Emilien will return to the rover position and make plays as he has done throughout his career and Thomas Gordon will patrol the deep using his superior athletic abiltiy to generate turnovers.

Both specialits are underclassmen this year and will return as probably the best unit in the Big 10.

Skill positions look ragged but great coaching will put them in position to win.Not much changing for OSU next year, except a year older and wiser. We lose our "best" two receivers, but only one of them will realistically be missed. Our 3 freshmen TEs will become 2 sophomores and a redshirt.

The defensive side of the ball is the only real concern ... losing stellar players at both DEs and a MLB that has anchored the defense. Losing some secondary players too, but that should be the easiest place to reload.

A line on this one might be a little difficult. It's probably about as close to a pick 'em as there is. However I think it comes down to two key battles.

Jacory Harris's 4027 yards, 40 TDs throwing to Collier, Streeter, Byrd with 1064, 889, 780 yards against Morris and Thomas with 8 and 6 picks on the year. Key to this match up I think it comes down to speed the PSU Dbs being able to keep up with and cover the wideouts. Collier, Streeter, Byrd come in with speed of 89,83, 90 against Morris, Thomas at 92,91 both with excellent coverage ratings.

The other battle - the 3 headed monster of PSU's running attack of Green, Redd, Beachum against a Miami defense built around speed with an anchor in the middle of Fortson and his 32 tackles as a DT. I think the PSU running game will be able to stay fresh with 3 backs and wear down the U defense.

Overall I think both teams will get their chances but it comes down to the PSU secondary picking Harris - 31-30 PSU.

Might not look the best for the viewers but might be interesting nontheless.

Skip, if you're still reading this, make sure before you retire from the dynasty that you set your playbook (Coach Philosophy) to something that's good for the CPU, with your current roster. I figure after two seasons you could probably be safe with whatever you choose, but we don't want to run into another situation where the CPU's PB is wrong. I think it's your call, Coach, about whether you leave your current PB or use Virginia Tech.

Along those lines, before we add a 12th member, we need to get either someone who has a 2nd name, or someone we can just ask to hop on, to double check the coach settings for the teams that are no longer user controlled. I have a gut feeling that since Kingpin swapped from TTU to Oregon that TTU will now have the Air Force playbook. Oregon running Air Force wasn't horribly wrong ... TTU running Air Force would be really, really bad.

Hoping my three headed monster leads us next year:

(rSR) Jermie Calhoun - 192 rush att, 1274 yards, 6.6 YPC, 15 TDs, 14 rec, 148 yards
(rSO, FR AA) Brennan Clay - 77 rush att, 489 yards, 6.3 YPC, 13 TDs, 3 rec, 45 yards
(rSO) Roy Finch - 50 rush att, 339 yards, 6.7 YPC, 6 TDs, 2 rec, 18 yards

They combined for 23 runs of 20+ this year, with 70 broken tackles.

Our 2317 yards on the ground this year total was pretty good with the nation's no. 6 pass offense.

Jeff I tried logging on and doing it, for some reason I was having issues accessing anything in the OD, the screen would just stay blank. After a while it let me sift through the menus and during the off-season he doesn't let you alter team settings. When I went to audibles though it listed VT's playbook as theirs and defense as the 4-3 which they run.

If it doesn't go back to the same, I'll check back when the season starts and hop on to change everything

Landry Jones is looking to break these records this year:

Passing TD (Career) - 84 // Jones: 53
Passing Yards (Career) - 7922 // Jones: 7920.. yes 2 more yards last year and this would be done.. unforently EVERYTIME he throws a pass the announcers will say "by god, he's broke the record (again)"

Jamarkus McFarland will look to break OU's 14 sacks in a season, he had 9 last year.

Snoop said it was decent watching it and we were able to talk throughout and the way he commented on plays it seemed like the feed was pretty smooth. Snoop can you confirm?

I know you can't do a group chat but I wonder if the person videoing can do multiple calls to different people? Maybe something we can test out.

The other nice thing is you don't need a webcam to participate in the chat. Snoop can't get his camera to work but he was still able to view the chat.

Some thoughts about my Sooners through three games:

Without Broyles, Miller and Trent Ratterree on the team, our leading receiver is true freshman Erik Richardson.

Brennan Clay who had an incredible freshman season is the "forgotten man" as he hasn't broken 100 yards yet as Jermie Calhoun has went crazy.

We haven't completed a pass for more than 25 yards. We haven't attempted all but maybe one, though.

It's fun to spread the ball around to five or six guys instead of just three, a different offense this year.

Oh yeah, Jermie Calhoun has 13 TDs.

And Jamarkus McFarland is constantly double teamed and is sack-less. Meanwhile, other guys are taking the load for sacks.

Looking at next year's depth chart, the Badgers are a bit concerned. At QB I'll be starting a Sophomore or Fr-RS, at O-line, I'll be returning a 94OVR, an 81 OVR (Fr-RS), and then everyone else is currently 73 or below. At LB I'll be returning two 80 LBs, but nothing worthwhile behind that. Currently at SS I have two Sr-RS returning but no one else... I'm thinking I'll probably end up either running a 425 or Nickel-based defense.

Hopefully my recruiting pans out as I'm sure I'll be relying on several fresh faces next year, particularly at Safety.

Yeah, I'll say in Papa's case that he has better stick stills of the DBs than anyone else here.

Personally, my DBs were hurt big time by a lack of progression. The only thing I can think of is that because I'm a Teambuilder team I managed to get freshmen that had low potential ratings because of how I moved players around. Otherwise it makes no sense. I have a handful of Juniors who were on my roster as freshmen with 40 AWR, and are now <60. At least one guy was still like 45 AWR.

Oneback
10-17-2010, 08:30 PM
I agree that AWR has a lot to do with it atleast if you want the DB to make plays for you, as does SPD, ACC and AGI to just get in place to make the play. However, when playing random online games I am averaging at least 2 user picks a game...I am sure having the INT slider at 35 has a lot to do with that however.

I guess I will need to get some better DB's.

It would take way too much time to sift through all the recruits on the console/website. In Excel I can sort quickly and find what I am looking for. Albeit they may be already heavily recruited there are a lot of recruits in the lower levels (3-star) that I would've never touched but fit my needs, without this tool I would've never known they were there.

Yeah, it'll definitely be worth looking at next preseason. Though I'm pretty much focusing solely on the Top 10 teams this year. A lot less comparing players, simply because it doesn't matter if I like a guy if I'm not going to be able to get him.

psusnoop
10-19-2010, 11:29 PM
I've found you can still crack a top 10 but landing them is a whole nother story. I mean once the CPU picks up that you are going after said recruit they are like a pack of wolves on some of these guys this year. Not always though so you can "steal" one everyonce in awhile.

I run my defense like the Jets/Ravens before that but with a 4-2-5. Or like V-Tech's defense. So I need shut down corners. Since I play alot of man coverage that's the only stat I look at with my corners. But if they can't run they don't play. So the best corner for my system may have the lowest OVR, but on the field could be my best player. Robinson set the school record for INT's in a season last year in his first season starting. And is on pace to shatter the Career Record for INT's. But if I put up that highlight against RC Singer, they make the plays themselves jumping routes when they are in Zone. I have INT's on Aggressive.

I know the CRT tubes usually last for about 7-10 years and are $700 a piece to replace, the unit only has 3 years (if that) of use on it. Any other information if you have any would be great.

The only thing that immediately comes to mind about CRT projectors is I seem to recall that burn-in is a major problem. With things like the score bar at the bottom of NCAA, that could be a problem. But that's just off the top of my head and may be completely wrong.

I'll have to watch for that. I know I will want to try it out as the image size ranges from 60-250 inches. Hopefully the Rangers win the ALCS and I can have this thing setup by the time the World Series starts.

About.com is one of my favorite (read: trustworthy) places to look for "the basics" on subjects I know nothing about. So here you go ... middle of the page or so.

http://hometheater.about.com/cs/television/a/aarearprotv.htm

Limitations Of CRT Video Projection

1. A CRT projection television is rather large. A CRT-based projection television can take up a lot of space, in terms of cabinet depth, not only in comparison to Plasma and LCD flat panel sets, both also in comparison to DLP and LCD rear-projection units.

2. A CRT-based rear-projection television has to be converged properly for best image reproduction. Since the modern CRT-based rear-projection television houses three projection tubes (red, green, and blue), the tubes need to be aligned so that the projected image does not exhibit color halos and the colors are mixed correctly. If one projection tube fails, all three have to be replaced in order to provide the correct color and brightness balance.

3. Although all projection televisions generate some heat, this is a challenge in CRT-based projection sets, due to the fact that three separate projection tubes must be cooled and kept at an even temperature. This is accomplished by liquid gels developed for this purpose. Although very rare, the liquid gels casings can leak, thus causing the television to malfunction.

4. CRT projection televisions are more susceptible to image burn-in from continuously displayed station logos and window box lines resulting from extensive display of 4x3 programming on 16x9 CRT projection sets.

I really don't want to do this but if we are unable to pick up the pace after the next advance I am going to start putting deadlines on getting games in before we advance and will only push the date if there are circumstances beyond control. So please let's make a better effort going forward to get the games scheduled/played.

On the upside, it's been 2 (days), 2, 2,4, 2, 6, 3, and 5+ between advance the last 7 weeks. So while a couple of "weeks" ago seemed extraordinarily long, and this week seems that way too ... we're actually still kicking butt, overall.

Yeah, I'm still convinced the odds are significantly in your favor so I chose to just play when I had a chance.

Remind me what your "normal" evening schedule is. My parents are coming in tonight, but they often go to bed "early" (compared to me), so that'd be the most likely time to play. But we should be able to play practically any time I'm at home -- they wouldn't balk at it too badly, I don't think.

I've got two words: Texas Longhorns

We are on the verge of a historic collapse in terms of teams coming off a #2 finish/losing in the NC game...

http://barkingcarnival.fantake.com/2010/11/07/this-is-not-normal/

Let’s be frank about how bad the fall of the 2010 Texas Longhorns really is.

I am not going to make any comment about the team, its two deep, its talent, or development. I will also reserve judgment for now on how atrocious it is to put up a (likely) losing record against one of the weakest schedules that Texas has ever played. And I’m not going to reflect on how bad the losses have been, as this team has been blown out repeatedly by multiple scores.

Let’s just keep it simple and talk about wins and losses.

All I want to focus on is a simple premise: is it common for a team that is nine months removed from playing for a national title to have fallen this far?

The natural answer, whether it be from an angry Texas fan or a casual observer of college football, would be — um, no.

But why leave this observation ambiguous; let’s see if history has proven it out.

74 DATA POINTS IN THE AP POLL

Let’s begin with the formal question: how have previous runners-up (2nd place finishers) in college football performed in their very next season? Bearing in mind college football has historically had a haphazard way of selecting its national champion (especially pre-BCS), the easiest way to try and answer this question systematically is to look at the teams that finish each season in the #2 slot.

Because the AP poll, by far, has the longest track record, I compiled all of the #2 finishers from 1936 to 2009 (Texas was #2 in ’09). I then compiled the winning percentage (giving half a victory for ties) for the #2 finishers in their immediate subsequent season. For instance, 2005 USC (#2 AP) went 11-2 in 2006.

THE OUTPUT

If Texas fails to defeat either Oklahoma State or Texas A&M (which most would put decent odds on at this stage), their 5-7 record (0.417 winning percentage) would be the 70th worst performance out of 74 runners-up since 1936.

It would be the worst finish (and only sub-0.500 record) among #2 teams since Arizona State went 4-7 in 1976.

Michigan State and two service academies (Army/Navy) are the only other instances, and those happened about half a century ago.

The only “modern” comparison would be 1998/99 Ohio State, which went 6-6 in 1999 after an 11-1 season where Ohio State’s national title aspirations were thwarted by Michigan State. This is not a clean comparison, because a) Ohio State did not end up with a losing record in 1999, and b) Ohio State did not play in the national title game in 1998 (Tennessee beat Florida State). Also note that John Cooper was fired one season later (after going 8-4 in 2000).

By the way, the 74-year average (or “normal”) winning percentage has been 0.770 (about 9-3).

THE CONCLUSION

Barring a major recovery to the season where Texas can stun either the Cowboys or Aggies and win a bowl game, this particular collapse of a #2 team is of historic proportions. It is not normal to fall this far this fast. It suggests this is not a normal “cyclical” retrenchment, but something far more serious.

The 1999 Buckeyes lost a lot of talent to graduation in 1998, much like Texas lost last year. Joe Germaine graduated in 1998, much like Colt McCoy graduated in 2009.

Though at least Garrett Gilbert is a quarterback ... we didn't have one in 1999.

What would everyone's thoughts be if I decided to use a 6-man OL? I've been experimenting with it in practice mode subbing in a OT for TE, particularly in 3WR sets from the Shotgun. On passing plays, I would hot-route the "TE" to block as I wouldn't use him as a receiver. Granted there would be some formations where I would use a true TE.

Let me know what you think.

I would not see a problem with it. It is very common in the pro game now. I've used this type of substitution in the past, especially when I couldn't get a decent TE recruit to come in.

Also I would say he is an eligible receiver and if you wanted to use him to run a route that's your prerogative, not sure how he'd catch though.

I don't have a problem with it. I had to move an OG to TE last offseason so that I had enough bodies, he's acted as my blocking TE all season long....I've even sent him out on pass routes but I don't think I threw to him even once this season.

No issues here and something that I've considered playing with as well, though luckly I have two very good blocking TE's right now that play above their attributes.

i think i played mw2 for like 6 months or so, it was a lot of fun and a nice break from ncaa, at this point in the year i usually only play my OD games for ncaa anymore, and i just finished fall out new vegas so im ready for online killing :)

papa and i need to get better at team death match, we got rocked yesterday afternoon...im more of a domination player though so i dont play very well in other game types.
