The game releases tonight. Use this thread to discuss.
I have the game downloaded and just have to wait for 11:00 PM Central to play it. I'm going to put a good session in with it tonight and I'll be happy to stream, if there's interest (jaymo?).
I was going to buy this today and preload it, but it'll have to wait. Money's a little tight right now and got a week long trip to South Dakota coming up the third week of April that will no doubt suck plenty of money out of the bank.
Maybe after the trip, either last week of April or beginning of May, I'll pick this up.
Sorry buddy. Need to take a rain check. I cannot get these kids to bed. Let's try for something later in the week? Have fun!
I just got my first game in and, of course, I had to play one at Minute Maid Park with the roof closed. I must say that the game is beautiful. I really wasn't prepared for how much better it looks than 15. The lighting as the sun was going down and coming through the windows of the roof support in left field was fantastic.
Anyway, I put in all of my sliders and settings from 15 and the game played very well. The one problem I saw was with injuries. On 15 I had Injury Frequency on 9 because their weren't enough injuries unless you cranked it up. I'll probably go back to 5 because I had both George Springer and Carlos Correa leave the game with injuries. Springer had an arm injury that appeared serious and Correa had a less serious hand or finger injury.
As for the game, I lost to Oakland 3 to 2.
OAK 3-8-0
HOU 2-9-0
WP: Gray 6.1 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 7 K
LP: Keuchel 7.0 IP, 8 H, 3 ER, 0 BB, 8 K
Jose Altuve hit the game's only home run, a solo shot into the Crawford Boxes in the 6th. I also got a triple from Colby Rasmus, after Billy Burns missed on a dive attempt and the ball rolled to the wall.
The A's had 3 doubles.
Oakland pitchers struck out 7 and walked 4 - what seem to be good numbers. However, I struck out 12 and didn't walk anyone so I'll have to monitor that for potential slider changes.
Played a second game and took another L. This time, I lost 3-0 at Seattle. Hopefully as I get back into form with The Show and I adjust to the Fisheye hitting camera, my offensive production will improve without needing to make a bunch of slider changes.
HOU 0-2-0
SEA 3-8-0
WP: Iwakuma 9.0 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 7 K
LP: McHugh 7.1 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 5 K
I didn't have any extra base hits. The Mariners had 2 - both by Kyle Seager. Seager had a triple and a homer and was a double away from the cycle, going 3 for 4.
Can't wait to get home around 2 cst
The dude abides.
Played another game and lost in Arlington, 5-1.
Mitch Moreland hit 2 homers, including a grand slam for Texas. Jose Altuve had a triple, the only Houston extra base hit. Texas added 2 doubles to Moreland's homers.
HOU 1-5-0
TEX 5-8-0
WP: Holland 7.0 IP, 5H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 8 K
LP: Fister 5 IP, 5 H, 5 ER, 3 BB, 5 K
I'm still not sure if my lack of production is related to the new game and new camera angle or to sliders but I'm going to keep playing as is to be sure.
Lost again, at home to Cleveland 4-1 in 13 innings. I'm pretty convinced that the human batting sliders that I used last year are hurting my hitting. I probably should take those back to default but I'm going to play a couple more before I decide.
CLE 4-13-1 (F/13)
HOU 1-6-1

HOU: 13 IP, 13 H, 4 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 7 K
Cleveland's only extra base hit was a Jason Kipnis double, while Houston got a solo home run from Jason Castro.
After some more fooling around, I made a few minor tweaks to improve hitting for both the user and CPU.
I was able to get my first win and finally use Ken Giles in the process.

Longoria and Miller homered for Tampa and Loney had a double. For Houston, Valbuena had a double.
I'm still not sure I've done enough for hitting. My production was heavily influenced by the walks. Of course, it's just one game and I'll keep things the way they are for a few games to see what happens.
Beat the Twins in Houston, 6-1.
