I've got a touchscreen but set Linux to ignore it. Couldn't get the specs I wanted without it.

So I did some research and supposedly office 2007 is compatible with windows 10 so i'm going to start with a download on my laptop (confirm it works) and then move on to the desktop.

How can you stomach 2007? Absolutely hated that version.

I kept everyone on 2003 until 2010 released. Wasn't very user friendly for most users. I just didn't like it.

Of course they changed their price model for 2013..along the lines of other companies doing subscribe yearly models. Which don't get started on that.

Yeah I am aware 07 is widely hated (not sure why). For what I need it works just fine (typing documents and making the occasional spreadsheet and power point) - and I just do not want to have to pay for a yearly subscription to the new office.

2007 is widely hated because of The Ribbon interface.

LibreOffice is my solution of choice, with OpenOffice available too.

I wouldn't pay for it either...I'd opt for OpenOffice if I were choosing or didn't currently have 2010 Pro from my work

You can install them from XP anyway. Just need the .dll files from the Windows/System 32 folder on an XP install machine.

Copy them over and boom Solitaire, Minesweeper, etc on Windows 8. Don't see why it won't work for 10 either.

4 hours still allegedly "Working on it..."

DUMB move to not put up a status bar, give me a % or something b/c now I have no clue if it is even working and I should just let it go or if something has gone wrong and I should shutdown/restart and try again.
