NBA 2K16 Covers & First MyPlayer Info Revealed

It's official - your NBA 2K16 cover athletes will be Steph Curry, Anthony Davis, and James Harden.

An earlier leak had Kevin Durant on the cover instead of Davis, but speculation has centered on possible concerns over health and his status in OKC that may have led to the switch.

Info on how to interchange covers will be announced in the coming days according to NBA 2K Community Manager Ronnie Singh.

Today, the first info on MyCareer was also revealed in interviews with Spike Lee and through clarifications from 2K Sports. This year the storyline of the mode was written and directed by Lee as, in his words: "We follow a kid through the trials and tribulations of being a top high school player and the decisions he has to make." 2K spokesman Ryan Peters stated that Lee shot what amounts to 90 minutes of "cinematic narrative," which translates to about 12 hours of in-game drama and that there will be a protagonist and antagonist in the story.

With the mode featuring a top high school player, how will the game handle the one-year of college minimum before the created player can declare for the NBA Draft? Worth noting: Each of the three covers includes one background image showing that particular cover athlete in his college uniform.

The best guess that came to mind was echoed earlier today by community member Dougie Veney:

One of the primary characters within the mode will be someone with the nickname 'Frequency Vibrations' and it appears similar to the fictional Jackson Ellis in 2K14, 2K Sports has created a Twitter profile for 'Freq.'

Early speculation today was that users would be forced into playing as Frequency within the mode. However, 2K has since clarified that user-created MyCareer players will still be utilized front and center.
