Always brings up the question, should athletes be playing other sports on the side for fun.
I think they should, but when this happens it gets magnified.

Depends on the sport/activity. Football players playing Golf is one thing. Golfers playing football, not so much.
Even something as simple as gaming can become an issue.
When I was running track at OU, about ten of us on the team would always go play basketball at night and the coaches hated it. I think it's not so much playing another sport, but knowing how hard/not hard to try when playing another sport.
