The crane toppled as soon as I fell off. You could see the shadow of it falling as I tumbled to my death

Beta has been extended for a week, and I have an extra code. First DM gets it.

Any of you guys still have a code for the alpha/beta or whatever they are calling it? My nephew is apparently into 1st person shooters (COD) and would like one if possible. Thanks!

It was just announced today via the Battlefield Blog that Battlefield Hardline will be delayed into 2015. This just adds yet another title that is set to launch in an already loaded 2015. Earlier this summer, people got to see an early build of the game via a beta. While it wasn't perfect, it was pretty good, and the game modes were pretty fun. With the disasterous launch of Battlefield 4 for most players, EA wants to make sure this launch is flawless. That is one of the two reasons why I'm not bothered by the delay. The other is the fact that we're still getting Battlefield 4 content, and speaking for myself, I'm still putting in some good time into the game. There is still some DLC left to launch for it, so there would have been a good chance that it would have been muddled with the Hardline launch. Click to continue reading EA's post from the Battlefield Blog:

Today we are announcing that Battlefield Hardline will launch in early 2015. Obviously, this is big news, so I’d like to address why we’re making this change.

Back at E3, we launched a beta for Hardline — we wanted to not only show you the game, but to let you play it for yourselves. Millions of you jumped in and had a great time. As a result, the Visceral Games team learned a lot from players about what they wanted in the game. We’ve been pouring over the data and feedback, and have already been putting a lot of it right into the game and sharing it directly with you.

This feedback also spurred us to start thinking about other possibilities and ways we could push Hardline innovation further and make the game even better. The more we thought about these ideas, the more we knew we had to get them into the game you will all be playing. However, there was only one problem. We would need more time. Time that we didn’t have if we decided to move forward with launching in just a couple of months.

We decided that the right thing to do was to take more time to ensure Hardline is the best, most innovative Battlefield experience we can give to you, our fans.

Here are a few of the things the new timing will allow us to accomplish:

    1. Multiplayer Innovation: Coming out of our E3 beta, internal focus tests, and work with our community, we have received a lot of great Multiplayer thinking. We’re going to be adding some new feature ideas direct from the community that will evolve the cops and criminals fantasy into a truly unique Battlefield Multiplayer experience.

    2. Single Player Story Depth: In order to ensure our Single Player experience delivers on player expectations, we’re spending more time polishing our core features, as well as adding a few new ones that will support a deeper “crime revenge” story experience.

    3. Stability: This has been a focus for our team since day one and we’re going to be using the extra time to continue to optimize the game for a stable launch. We have learned a lot from Battlefield 4, are continuing to learn from our Community Test Environment and will learn more from another Hardline beta. More time allows us to surface issues that the team can attempt to fix prior to launch.

We are doing all of this for one reason. Because we want Battlefield Hardline to be the best game it can be, and so that we can create the best environment for a smooth launch for our players. We will give you updates on our progress and we’ll regularly share updates along the way via Battlefield.com/Hardline as well as the Battlefield social channels.

In addition to the ongoing development of Hardline, it’s important to note that the DICE teams continue to drive Battlefield 4. We continue to explore new opportunities for improvements and we are still releasing new content, including “Dragon’s Teeth,” the fourth expansion pack that launches worldwide on July 29, and “Final Stand” coming later this year. We remain committed to giving you the best BF4 experience possible.

Needs more than a delay. It seems like nothing more than a $20 or $30 expansion to Battlefield 4 to me. On the flip side, I've been playing Battlefield 4 a ton lately and it seems that they've fixed most of the horrific lag that the game suffered from for so many months.

Wise decision to delay, though. Even if it was amazing (and it definitely isn't), it was going up against numerous HEAVY hitters - Destiny, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare, Evolve, Master Chief Collection, etc... Early next year is pretty barren so far so it was the smart thing to do.

Battlefield 4 is running a promotion between today and the end of Saturday to gin up interest in the upcoming Battlefield Hardline beta. If the community racks up 2 billion points in Battlefield 4's Rush mode, then Hardline's Heist mode will be unlocked for the beta.

This task begins today at noon ET and will run until 2.59 a.m. ET on Sunday.

Battlefield Hardline's open multiplayer beta will take place next week, according to an Electronic Arts announcement this morning, released alongside a trailer.

The cops-vs-robbers multiplayer shooting game will run from Feb. 3 to Feb. 8 and will be available on Windows PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. In Battlefield Hardline, heavily armed cops are pitted against equally tooled-up criminals in a contest for terrain, loot and lives.

The beta will feature three different maps including an urban downtown setting and a rural ghost town. Various modes will be available including Hotwire, in which both teams seek to possess stolen cars dotted around the map. Heist is based on a bank robbery, with various exits and entry points. Conquest is also available, offering battles for up to 64 players.

The beta is now available. If you play, let us know what you think. I probably won't be able to give it a try until tomorrow.

Initial install is only about 3 GB. Much bigger install in-game.

I didn't play much (any?) of BF4 online, so it's taking time to get the hang of each game mode, menu/interface layout, etc. It's fun, but I am surprised (shouldn't be, though) at how many players run around like chickens with their head cut off. I'm still more interested in SP than MP, though.

Well Hardwire is a chicken with heads cut off mode for the most part since it's basically Domination with moving bases.

    I love the mode though.

Following some initial reports, developer Visceral Games on Wednesday officially announced that EA Access members on Xbox One will get to play Battlefield Hardline on March 12, a full five days before the game launches to the public on March 17.
