8/15/90 ... the last time a pitcher has thrown a no hitter against former team when Terry Mullholland did it

Carlos Guillen is hitting well for the Tigers but he's not very good at 2B. Two routine double plays weren't turned because he was either very slow to get to the bag or made a bad throw to first. No errors charged (the throwing error 8 feet wide of first base should have been one) but it cost rookie Andy Oliver a run. Oliver is a nice lefty that was throwing 94-97 mph. The Tigers rush their pitchers too much though. It's the kid's first year in the minors. He started out in AA and they just brought him up which I think will be for only a couple starts. Porcello through a 1 hitter in Toledo as he is working on his secondary pitches. That's why some kids need more time in the minors. They need to develop their secondary pitches without worrying so much about the results. Plus they need to develop confidence. Hard to do that when rushed to the bigs.

Geez...Someone just feel out of the upper deck reaching out for a foul ball. I'm watching the Ranger-Indians game. Hope he's ok. Scary as hell.

Tigers have got a TON of youngsters on the team right now including many in the bullpen. Good future for Detroit!

They may have to just dump Zumaya. That dude can't stay healthy.

I don't know what's going to happen with Zumaya. I think he should just retire before he wrecks his arm permanently. There's a chance his career is over. Either way his arm movement is violent and he throws from a low arm slot putting more pressure on his arm. He will have to rebuild his throwing motion if he ever wants to stay healthy. His loss hurts the Tigers big time as he was pitching very well this year.

Tigers may be trading Rick Porcello which would be a terrible idea. I'm not sure how they can take on more salary (Haren possibly?) but Illitch wants to win and isn't afraid to lose money. He LOVES baseball and was a former minor leaguer and desperately wants the Tigers to win a World Series as an owner in his lifetime. He will be 81 on July 20th.

Yeah that surprised the hell out of me. Gave up Smoak though. But they're in position to win now this year.

Ya, I think Smoak's going to be a hell of a player. I really liked him. I never could be a GM of a team. I'm too loyal and the guilt of trading away a player I like would be too much to handle.

Rangers want to win now so to ease the pain they said:

    Chris Davis > Justin Smoak

Its possible Davis will still turn out to be a really good player. He plays plus defense and if he can ever figure things out at the plate he has the ability to hit 40 homeruns a season. In AAA this year he's hitting .354 with 10 HRs and 56 RBI's. He's a classic power hitter that will always strike out more that you like however if he can maintain a .280 average you'll be able to live with the strikeouts as he'll also provide 40 homeruns and 100+ RBI's. He's also only 24 years old so there is still time.

Cliff Lee gives up six runs in his Texas debut, but gets a CG.....weird. I wonder what the record is for most runs given up in a CG.

LOL the last time the NL won the All-Star game, I was about to or just started to:

    1) Get my driver's license
    2) Start working at McDonald's in Nebraska City
    3) Start my junior year of HS
    4) Played the hell out of Ken Griffey Jr.'s Winning Run

EDIT: Jumped the gun, thought the game was done LOL Top 9th

Meh, give the Rockies a week or two to find their 2nd half hot streak again and start reeling off wins left and right like in the 2007 and 2009 seasons.
