    Iron Dragon's Coaching Carousel Career

    Coaching Career of Jay Draggo

This is my career as a coach. Using JBHuskers' rules:

    • Any OC or HC job is fair game.
    • First HC Job has to be at a or worse school in a non-BCS conference
    • If I am the HC at a or school, I can make the jump to a school.
    • Once I'm the HC of a school, I can only go up to a job that is more than where I am currently at.
    • If my contract is 1-2 years, I have to at least stay 1 year.
    • If my contract is 3-4 years, I have to stay at least 2 years.
    • If my contract is 5-6 years, I have to stay at least 3 years.
    • If my contract is 7 years, I have to stay at least 4 years.

    31-10

Offense only had 234 yards but Rhode Island really struggled punting. We had plenty of short fields.

We had 11 penalties for 92 yards.

Dale Martin rushed for 97 yards on 21 carries and had 2 TDs.

Our WR core dropped 3 passes.

Antonine Russell's impressive 32 yard TD.

Patrick Nicely threw for 164 yards and 2 TDs but threw an INT, but was only 12-30.

Nicely had -34 rushing yards on 5 sacks. Our offensive line blows.

Next week a trip to the Horseshoe to face Ohio State.

    62-7

    219 yards of total offense | 54 rush/165 pass
    2-14 on third down
    3 fumbles lost

Our only TD came on a 57 yard TD pass from Nicely to Keith Sconiers.

No INTs thrown by any QB.

Backup RB Broderick Alexander had a 22 yard run before suffering a mild concussion, our second longest play of the day.

Nicely had -32 rushing yards thanks to sacks. And lots of them.

TE Rhyne Ladrach had 6 catches for 77 yards.

Ohio State isn't on the schedule again.

    17-14

    374 yards of total offense
    141 rush/233 pass
    0 turnovers

Patrick Nicely threw for 220 yards.

He went out late in the game with an injury and is done for the season.

Backup RB Broderick Alexander had 79 rushing yards.

Nicely to Russell ended up in an 80 yard TD pass.

The defense held Temple to 14 points, enough for us to kick a field goal late and get to 2-1 on the year.

Might have to break the redshirt on a true freshman QB.

Two more solid games rushing will get me those early in the season.
Four wins looks very possible. Don't need the

    35-5

    390 yards of total offense
    164 rushing (1 TD)/226 passsing (4 TD)
    Defense forced 4 turnovers

Both of our backup QBs Rodgers and freshman Kyle Phol threw 2 TDs each.

    21-24

    391 yards of total offense
    180 rush (2 TD)/211 pass (TD)
    2 turnovers / def forced 1
    1-15 on third down

We got back into the game late with two late TD runs and took the lead at 21-17 only for T.Y. Hilton to return a kickoff back for a TD.

We lost it because of our great special teams defense which was a crappy way to lose.

    7-48

    302 yards of total offense
    154 rush/148 pass
    2-12 on 3rd down
    3-0-0 in redzone
    2 turnovers

Solid rushing game with three players over 40 yards. Ohio was 6-0 coming in and got another easy win.. they are running all over the MAC as the nation's #1 rush game put up 298 on the ground on our defense.

    21-51

    222 yards of total offense
    53 rush / 169 pass
    2-19 on third down
    3 turnovers

Crazy Stat: Central Michigan had 12 trips to the redzone and only had the ball for a little over 9 minutes compared to our 18:35. They failed 3 fourth downs, missed two field goals and still managed 5 TDs and a FG in the redzone.

We had the ball alot and didn't do much with it. CMU scored the game's final 5 TDs.

    21-12

    338 yards of total offense
    36 rush / 302 pass
    4-15 on 3rd down
    4 turnovers

We just committed way too many turnovers had too many drops. We had a 2-pt conversion dropped and then a late TD that could have made the score closer (21-19) on fourth down that was dropped. Our WRs didn't like to hang on to anything in this one.

Should be able to keep our points per game above 10, we only need one more win for another goal in wins, 8 games is impossible at this point, but I don't lose anything for not getting it.

    63% job security
as I have turned around one of the nation's worst offenses in 2010 and at least put us in contention for wins.

    Left on the schedule:
Kent (3-6), at Buffalo (2-7), at Western Michigan (6-3)
    Our record: 3-6

    20-7

    285 yards of offense
    34 rush / 251 pass
    3 turnovers

Our rushing game continues to struggle since the injury to starting RB Dale Martin vs Akron, as we have barely made it over 100 yards in the past three games, which we lost all of them.

    17-10

    232 yards of offense
    174 rush / 58 pass
    3 turnovers

Thankfully Buffalo was 1-14 on 3rd down and 0-4 on 4th downs and couldn't score as Dale Martin returned and ran for 108 yards and 2 TDs in our fourth win of 2011. We finally made that goal. Our pass game struggled as Kyle Pohl got injured for the rest of the season on his first attempt. Backup QB Rodgers was 5 for 20.

    24-3

    238 yards of total offense
    131 rush / 107 pass
    3 turnovers
    1-13 on 3rd down
2 trips in redzone, 0 points

Our season finale was a disaster with 2 picks in the endzone by Rodgers (10-28 passing), but Dale Martin did rush for 104 yards so that was good. It was going to be tough to beat a 7-win team in the finale and we were around but just couldn't put the points on the board.

    Final season record: 4-8 (3-5)

    Final Goal Update

    69 percent job security.

Now after checking in on the NCAA, the carousel will start spinning and we'll see where I'll get off..

Despite going 4-8, you still did pretty good with Akron, considering the Zips have gone 3-9 and 1-11 the past two seasons. Did rather decent with what little there was to work with. And nice work snagging that Fresno job! I can't wait to see what you're able to do on the field with that Fresno offense.

Yeah, that's pretty much hitting the lottery right there, going from OC at lowly Akron, and making the jump directly to Fresno. That's a major upgrade and a heck of a career advancement. Things just got very interesting. Can't wait to see where things go with the new career.
