ESPN Video Games: 'NCAA Football 12' Gameplay Tips from Strategy Guide Authors

Now that "NCAA Football 12" has officially shipped and gamers all across the country are heading online to battle it out against rival schools, I figured now would be a perfect time to seek the help of a virtual football expert, Zach Farley from the site "Madden Bible" and co-author of the Prima strategy guide for "NCAA," in order to provide everyone with some tips to get started.

Here are the top ten tips Zach provided on becoming a better baller.

    1. Start using the three headed rushing attack. Defenses can't stop all three options. Find a running formation that you like and find a combination of runs that allows you to attack the defense to the left, middle, and right.

    2. Use the Speed option form Singleback Ace. Add this play to your playbook and open games up with this play and force your opponent to defend it.

    3. Add the Wishbone Wide formation to your playbook. Focus on the power option and the quick pass audible "Verticals". Flip the play back and forth so your opponent can't tell which side you plan on running the option to. Use Verticals and throw to the half backs out of the backfield.

    4. Start hot routing receivers to Fade routes while in the red zone. Let the receiver break up field and throw a lob pass, then have the computer control the receiver and make the catch. This is one of the hardest plays to defend in "NCAA 12."

    5. Look up and down your roster for players that have high ratings in the following categories: SPD, AGI, ACC, CIT, JMP, BTK, HTP, TKL, MCV, ZCV.

    6. Start playing the best competition. Play in online leagues, find a group of friends to consistently play against, never back down from top level talent online.

    7. Run your offensive scheme for 5-10 minutes in Practice Mode just before playing each day. Get comfortable with your scheme and situations you could be in.

    8. Use the best available team. You play to win the game, yes your allegiance might be with your home town team, but make sure to play with the best team for your style of play.

    9. Remember your strengths. Remember your weaknesses. Forget that last interception. Don't let one bad play rattle you, there will be times when things don't go your way. Stay focused and stick to your scheme.

    10. Ask questions. Message myself (Sgibs) and Zfarls with your questions so we can help you with your game. @MaddenBible @SGibs7 on Twitter.
