If you're using the photo you referenced as an argument for what the helmet should look like in night conditions, however, there are some flaws in that logic. The game that photo is from was played at Nebraska--which will have different light sources than a game at Colorado--and though I don't know what time of day that game was played, the photo looks nothing like the night-time conditions of the in-game screenshot you included. Not trying to be a jerk, just pointing out that different types of lighting have different effects on how things appear.
I really appreciate you doing this. I do understand what you are saying about the lighting, that screen was just an example. The helmets in 11 looked like that in every night game. They still don't look like they should but it's much much better.

If you have some time, find me a photo of Colorado playing a home game at night. I'll try and replicate that photograph later on when I'm back at my apartment. The HDR lighting really changes the way things look when you get into the instant replays this year, so I'm curious how close I can get it to looking like it does in a real-life picture.

No, they're definitely black, not blue stripe.
How do I know they are absolutely black? Because there was a slight uproar of including so much black in the uniform when black isn't a team color at all for WVU. In the end, it was fine because it represented coal, the #1 natural resource and moneymaker in WV.
It absolutely should be black.
For what it's worth, I did pass along the screenshot I took as well as the helmet close-up you posted here, mors. I honestly don't know if anything can be done with that feedback this year, but I didn't want you to think that it hadn't been noted and sent.
Huh... it's amazing how "yellow" those helmets end up looking in the night photos. Even then, there are different "tints" to the color based on what photos you find online.
My guess would be that the color they are in the game is meant to reflect as close as possible what the official team color is for the helmet. Messing around in the game just now, however, I've found no way to replicate the "overexposed" yellow from those images.
I'll pass those examples along.

I thought the TCU Rose Bowl helmets were so awesome this past Bowl Season--with the Horned Frog logo holding a rose in its mouth--and it is so cool to see them in the game this year.
