40 seconds in 1-0 ---- perhaps my tally was too low?

Excellent start by the USA but gotta hope they don't blow their load early and then run out of gas. What's the temp/humidity like tonight?

I'm certainly impressed by that start. Now just gotta hold onto that lead for 85 more minutes. If USA can get a second goal, I'd definitely feel good about their odds of victory.

Not sure, but with Klinsman's biggest focus being fitness, I hope that is not a factor.

Obviously I was never world class in shape but I can tell you running 6-10 miles a day in the summer didn't matter when the temp was in the 90s and humidity high early in our high school seasons. Even with unlimited subs we were GASSED by the end of the game.

IMHO if Ghana wanna sit back down 0-1. Take the damn air out of the ball and just watch the clock run b/c at some point they are going to turn it up and you need the energy to respond.

England in particular appeared to collapse under the heat/humidity against Italy as they were making a ton of mental errors and just shanking passes/shots/crosses at the end.

Apparently US fans in the stadium have started chanting "I believe that we will win". Yeah, just a tad bit premature there.

Still 75 minutes to go with only a one goal lead. That's a lot of time for our defense to screw up or the players just plain get worn out under the conditions. Probably best to wait until at least mid way through the second half before starting that chant.

Not good for Altidore - he definitely pulled or tore something - way too early to be cramps (i'd hope)

Just looked up the weather. Temperature isn't bad, sitting at 80 degrees. Humidity is a bitch though with 73% humidity right now.

I'd be stunned of Altidore is able to return for the rest of the tourny - that just looked to me like something tore b/c he just immediately pulled up and it was without contact.

Hate to see Altidore go down.

Remember though, the US has 10 MLS players. They are used to playing a full schedule during the Summer months.

They just said 77° and 74% humidity. They should be fine.

Yeah, a lot of comments online and o Twitter of it appearing to be a hamstring injury. If he ends up done for the tournament, talk about a major blow to their already slim chances of getting out of the group.

Our defense looks MUCH more organized than it did earlier in qualifying. Either that or Ghana is way out of whack on the attack.
