Germany v. Portugal - best result for the U.S. - 0-0 draw with about 20 injuries.

Red for head butting a German for Pepe after a dive. Portugal is TOAST now playing with 10 against the Germans down 2-0.

BEAT DOWN. Por should just pull Ronaldo and save him due to his knee injury. No way in hell they come back from this.

Great result for the US, imo. Beat Ghana, draw with Portugal, play defense against Germany to stay within 4 goals and the just hope Portugal doesn't blow Ghana the fuck out.

Yep not a bad result. However, we MUST win today b/c Portugal should (in theory) come out really hard against the U.S. as they are basically in a must win now against the US

4:30 kinda sucks for the match. I don't get off work til 5, and I have somewhere to go after work.

Oh the pre-game must be at 4:30. I probably won't be home until after 6. Gotta drive across town and back, so I can listen to ESPN Radio.

    Yeah, 4:30 is pre-match commentary.

That Iran-Nigeria match was very entertaining today. I wasn't pulling for either team but it has some pretty good end-to-end play.

My prediction. Ghana 2, USA 1. Ghana's had our asses the last couple times we've played them. Until I see otherwise from the US, like in Vegas, gotta let it ride.

USA 4 Ghana 2 - i fully expect a wild game with defense optional for large segments

I would give Ghana more credit than that. They have some talent and should not be underestimated for a second.

You can't put too much stock into what happened 4 and 8 years ago.

Fact is, Football has gotten stronger in the States in the last 4 years. There are 20 MLS players on WC 2014 rosters (10 on US). That is the most since MLS started. In 2010, there were only 6 MLS players on WC rosters, which is the all-time low.

    1998 - 19
    2002 - 11
    2006 - 15
    2010 - 6
    2014 - 20

Not saying your pick is bad, just saying don't put so much weight on 4 and 8 years ago.

Oh, I know. A lot has definitely changed since 2006 and 2010, older players have gone, newer players have come. Both teams have at least changed somewhat since those two Cups. But, for whatever reason, Ghana always seems to have USA's number, either they come out hard or the US comes out sluggish. Hoping it's different tonight, but I'm sort of reserved until the US is able to actually get it done against Ghana.
