The Tailgate Smorgasbord - September 14

Like a buffet, The Tailgate Smorgasbord will bring you odds and ends giving you a little bit of everything.

    - The new issues emerging from NCAA Football game update #2 (as well as those not fixed in the update) are now being posted at gaming news sites around the web including Joystiq.

    - In a follow-up to the recently announced NCAA Football fellowship, EA looks to former players for more authenticity in games.

    - "LeGrand Bowl" takes place this Sunday on the campus of Rutgers University.

    - The EA jobs site is currently listing openings at EA Tiburon on the NCAA Football team (Executive Producer and Tools & Pipeline Lead), extensive positions for their NBA (sim) title, and also a large number of openings for a new IP. Any guesses?

    - An alleged former EA Tiburon developer talks Madden NFL 12.

    - Just like many professional football experts, Madden NFL 12 designer Donny Moore says EA "may have underestimated (Cam) Newton."

    - Fans clamoring for a cricket, rugby or lacrosse video game may want to root for the success of NBA Jam: On Fire Edition, according to that JAM's Creative Director, Trey Smith.

    - Female players are appearing in EA SPORTS' NHL franchise for the first time in NHL 12, thanks to 14-year-old Lexi Peters.

    - Some buyers of Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 12 for the PC have received refunds as the game differs significantly in some features compared to the console versions.

I saw that news yesterday. Very smart (from a business standpoint) move on EA Canada's part ... and also very cool. It makes a lot of sense when you think about it, given the amount of youth hockey played by girls. The only thing that has me slightly confused is why EA legal had to be consulted. I'm sure there's a logical reason, but that caught me off-guard.

Based on the article I read yesterday, it wasn't because it differs in features, it's because the marketing for the PC and Mac versions implied (or directly said) that those features would be in the PC/Mac versions as well.
