The game releases tonight. Use this thread to discuss.
I have the game downloaded and just have to wait for 11:00 PM Central to play it. I'm going to put a good session in with it tonight and I'll be happy to stream, if there's interest (jaymo?).
I was going to buy this today and preload it, but it'll have to wait. Money's a little tight right now and got a week long trip to South Dakota coming up the third week of April that will no doubt suck plenty of money out of the bank.
Maybe after the trip, either last week of April or beginning of May, I'll pick this up.
15 minutes to launch! :))
Sorry buddy. Need to take a rain check. I cannot get these kids to bed. Let's try for something later in the week? Have fun!
I just got my first game in and, of course, I had to play one at Minute Maid Park with the roof closed. I must say that the game is beautiful. I really wasn't prepared for how much better it looks than 15. The lighting as the sun was going down and coming through the windows of the roof support in left field was fantastic.
Anyway, I put in all of my sliders and settings from 15 and the game played very well. The one problem I saw was with injuries. On 15 I had Injury Frequency on 9 because their weren't enough injuries unless you cranked it up. I'll probably go back to 5 because I had both George Springer and Carlos Correa leave the game with injuries. Springer had an arm injury that appeared serious and Correa had a less serious hand or finger injury.
As for the game, I lost to Oakland 3 to 2.
OAK 3-8-0
HOU 2-9-0
WP: Gray 6.1 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 7 K
LP: Keuchel 7.0 IP, 8 H, 3 ER, 0 BB, 8 K
Jose Altuve hit the game's only home run, a solo shot into the Crawford Boxes in the 6th. I also got a triple from Colby Rasmus, after Billy Burns missed on a dive attempt and the ball rolled to the wall.
The A's had 3 doubles.
Oakland pitchers struck out 7 and walked 4 - what seem to be good numbers. However, I struck out 12 and didn't walk anyone so I'll have to monitor that for potential slider changes.
Played a second game and took another L. This time, I lost 3-0 at Seattle. Hopefully as I get back into form with The Show and I adjust to the Fisheye hitting camera, my offensive production will improve without needing to make a bunch of slider changes.
HOU 0-2-0
SEA 3-8-0
WP: Iwakuma 9.0 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 7 K
LP: McHugh 7.1 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 5 K
I didn't have any extra base hits. The Mariners had 2 - both by Kyle Seager. Seager had a triple and a homer and was a double away from the cycle, going 3 for 4.
Can't wait to get home around 2 cst :))
Played another game and lost in Arlington, 5-1.
Mitch Moreland hit 2 homers, including a grand slam for Texas. Jose Altuve had a triple, the only Houston extra base hit. Texas added 2 doubles to Moreland's homers.
HOU 1-5-0
TEX 5-8-0
WP: Holland 7.0 IP, 5H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 8 K
LP: Fister 5 IP, 5 H, 5 ER, 3 BB, 5 K
I'm still not sure if my lack of production is related to the new game and new camera angle or to sliders but I'm going to keep playing as is to be sure.
Lost again, at home to Cleveland 4-1 in 13 innings. I'm pretty convinced that the human batting sliders that I used last year are hurting my hitting. I probably should take those back to default but I'm going to play a couple more before I decide.
CLE 4-13-1 (F/13)
HOU 1-6-1
WP: Otero
LP: Gregerson
CLE: 13 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 14 K
HOU: 13 IP, 13 H, 4 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 7 K
Cleveland's only extra base hit was a Jason Kipnis double, while Houston got a solo home run from Jason Castro.
After some more fooling around, I made a few minor tweaks to improve hitting for both the user and CPU.
I was able to get my first win and finally use Ken Giles in the process.
HOU 4-9-0
TB 3-8-0
WP Sipp
LP Webb
SV Giles
HOU: 9 IP, 8 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 5 K
TB: 9 IP, 9 H, 4 ER, 7 BB, 7 K
Longoria and Miller homered for Tampa and Loney had a double. For Houston, Valbuena had a double.
I'm still not sure I've done enough for hitting. My production was heavily influenced by the walks. Of course, it's just one game and I'll keep things the way they are for a few games to see what happens.
Beat the Twins in Houston, 6-1.
MIN 1-6-2
HOU 6-12-0
WP: Keuchel
LP: Hughes
MIN: 8 IP, 12 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, 2 WP
HOU: 9 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 7 K
The Astros got doubles from Springer, Rasmus and Gattis as well as a 2-run home run from Correa. Minnesota got a solo homer from Sano.
Lost to the Red Sox with the Cubs 2-1 on default difficulty.
BOS 2-10-1
CHC 1-7-0
Lester went 6.2 innings giving up 9 hits, and 2 ER with 10 K
Strop added 3 K in 2 innings of relief.

Lost at the Royals, 4-1.
HOU 1-4-0
KC 4-9-0
WP: Ventura
LP: McHugh
SV: Davis
HOU: 8 IP, 9 H, 4 ER, 3 BB, 6 K
KC: 9 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 7 BB, 11 K
Houston got doubles from Gomez and Castro. Kansas City got doubles from Escobar, Moustakas and Hosmer and a solo home run from Perez.
I had my chances to get in this game but I left 9 on base.
Took another 4-1 loss. This time at home against Detroit.
DET 4-13-0
HOU 1-7-1
WP: Sanchez
LP: Fister
SV: Rodriguez
DET: 9 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 7 K
HOU: 9 IP, 13 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, 10 K
The Tigers got a double from Gose and a solo homer from Martinez. Houston got a solo homer from Singleton.
The https://t.co/eLoodq8Hmd will be down for a few days, we found some bad bugs there behind the scenes. Thx for your patience.

Also, the import music (Sounds of the Show) feature is not working properly.
@JW9779 I would stop trying to import music until the issue can be resolved.

JB and I played a few games online Wednesday evening and it was a MUCH better experience than the last time I tried to play online (MLB 14). There were a few twitchy moments but lag was not a factor at all.
It's a shame that Online Franchise is a turd, it could be fun.
I'm still enjoying the game very much but right now I'm just working on sliders and waiting for a patch to address the minor issues with carrying over a Franchise using year-to-year saves.
To get to work on sliders, I've started a test Franchise with the Pirates. I'll abandon this Franchise, however, when sliders are done and the patch I'm waiting for drops. I just think that working on sliders in Franchise is best because of fatigue (not to mention that I don't have to record any stats since the Franchise dies it for me).
I've played 17 games in that test Franchise with the Pirates and I don't feel like I'm close on sliders yet. So far, I'm all over the place and I'm finding that slider work is going to be much more difficult for me on 16 than I remember it being on 15.
Agreed with online Matt, that was a blast to play 3 or so games.

Reading online that this game is really buggy. What are your thoughts people?
I'm not noticing it being buggy. Played Matt online the other night and it was very smooth.
There aren't any bugs that are ruining, or really even affecting, my enjoyment. I'm just struggling with sliders. When I get those stable, I'll be ready to get started on my Carry-Over Franchise.
Still enough issues online that they are giving away some free stuff.

Framerate is still a bit off, especially in cut scenes. I use Auto Base Running and it is glitched right now. I kept getting kicked out of the game when it would first load up but I think the latest patch fixed it. I am hearing of RTTS progression issues and dynamic difficulty is broken. In my RTTS I am a starting pitcher and my coach is an idiot. Throwing a one hitter, up 7-1 and he keeps me in to throw a complete game, well over 125 pitches. They need a take me out of the game option as I would like to still have an arm by the time I get to the majors. ;)Quote:
In acknowledgment of the frustration these issues have caused, if you’ve played The Show 16 while connected to PlayStation Network before 1 pm PDT, Friday, April 8, we’re adding 5,000 stubs and 10 standard packs to your account. Stubs will show up automatically by Tuesday, April 12; no redemption required. Packs can be accessed in the “Open Packs” section by Tuesday, April 12 (via “Main Menu > My Locker > Inventory > Open Packs”).
Edit: CDJ beat me to it in another thread. Still, free stuff and that is great since I do not play online!
